Biker mentioned, in one of the CC threads somewhere, the glass floor staircase between deck 14 and 13 on Ovation (all Quantum class??). We never noticed it on Quantum and almost missed it on Ovation. It’s definitely a

long way down!

We took these same two shots when we were on the Ovation last month.

Took some time to catch up (last I checked in was about page four!). What a fun trip! I was scared there for a bit (your wife's hip) but it all seems to be working out great.

also, going back even further, I've been a fan of Dolly Parton's since I was a kid and saw 9 to 5 so I always knew I Will Always Love You was her song. When Whitney had such a huge hit with it, I remember Dolly being interviewed and the interviewer asked, "Are you upset that Whitney has a bigger hit with it than you did? [For a few years it was Dolly's signature song.]" And she responded with, "Oh, yes. I cry all the way to the bank." She's a national treasure.

Looking forward to the next leg of your trip. Thanks for taking us along.

Just curious. Did you hear or know about Covid cases on your cruise? Quantum following you has many in quarantine.

I didn’t hear about any cases, but not sure that I would have. I didn’t hear about cases when we were on Quantum either though.

Enjoying your updates so far.

Is there any chance you could try to find out what capacity the ship will be sailing at on the Sydney cruises. We are on the 16th Nov cruise for a b2b, check in opened yesterday but still no covid protocols announced.

Thanks, hope you continue to have a lovely time.

Sorry for the late reply but I kept forgetting to post. I asked Carlington about how full they would be for your cruises. He does not get that info until a couple weeks before each cruise, so he couldn’t provide an answer. Sorry.

Our flight from Honolulu to Lihue airport on Kauai was quick and easy. Also easy to pick up our rental car, although the cars all have some miles on them and show it. No big deal.

We stopped at Duke’s for lunch before headed to the hotel. Very good. I just love the open building design for many places in Hawaii. Covered but with a full view and a nice breeze. No Hula pie yet…we’ll probably be back there for dinner

We continued on to our hotel, the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa. Beautiful property. I’ll have many more pics of the hotel grounds later, but here’s the view from our balcony. I can live with this.

No problem, thanks for asking.

I've really enjoyed following along, hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Hawaii, a TP crossing is on our bucket list.

Good morning from beautiful Kauai. Another day in paradise.

Today is helicopter day. This is one of the things that I’ve most looked forward to this entire trip. We have a 1 hour flight at 1:40. We chose a small helicopter where we can fly without doors for completely unimpeded views (and photographs). Micheline has not made her final decision about whether to fly with or without doors on her side. She can make that decision at the last minute. No decision at all for me…nothing between me and Waimea Canyon or the Na Pali coast. More info about the tour here:

https://maunaloahelicoptertours.com/kauai-helicopter-tours/the-kauai-experience/

We’ll enjoy the hotel pool area for a few hours this morning before checking in for our tour.

More to come…

The helicopter tour in Kauai was the highlight of one of my early trips there. I went through several rolls of Kodachrome.

Now you know how long ago that was.

Enjoy that flight.  It will be amazing.

Thanks Mark. No Kodachrome for me, but I’m again wishing that I’d brought my full DSLR kit. I guess it’s better if I’m actually watching the real world instead of my viewfinder.

The hotel is just stunning. Open, airy feel with breezes blowing through the hotel. Water and lush vegetation everywhere. Here’s the breakfast buffet area. A little different from Windjammer.  🤣

I like the way you travel , suites on cruises, flying first class and staying at beautiful hotels, that is the only way to travel . Nice that KC plays tonight giving them one less day to prepare for Bills.

This hotel looks to me like heaven on earth -- green, blue and sunshine 🌷

[Wishful thinking -- one way cruises to Hawaii year around, like Vancouver to Honolulu, spend some time in Hawaii, and back by ship.....]

Thats a great way to describe it Dani…heaven on earth.

Wow. Just got back from our helicopter tour. Wow…just…wow. I need to arrange the way too many photos and videos that we took, but here’s a few quick pics.

There are a lot of waterfalls in that 1st pic.  I bet that was a fun ride.
