devonuk Posted December 18, 2022 #27 Share Posted December 18, 2022 I watched her travel up the Solent and into her berth, so now I just need to board on the 6/1/23 on a TA to the Caribbean 🙏

Much tooo big for us, no interest at all. We will stick to the little old ships . Like Iona and Britannia .🤣
purplesea Posted December 18, 2022 #34 Share Posted December 18, 2022 We were supposed to sail on her on the 6th January but unfortunately had to cancel, but we are sailing on her in May instead - looking forwards to it.

Snow Hill Posted December 18, 2022 #38 Share Posted December 18, 2022 It’s a big ship, not really something we would go for, I am sure some people will enjoy it, but it’s not for us. I suspect it will be one of a number of cruise ships of this size P&O will commission over the next few years and it will seek to move it smaller ships on. 2

besberry Posted December 18, 2022 #41 Share Posted December 18, 2022 I watched her sail in. She dwarfed Spirit of Discovery (which I was on last July). Can't wait for Friday, got some shows booked 😄

jeanlyon Posted December 18, 2022 #45 Share Posted December 18, 2022 (edited) Aurora actually looks like a ship! These monsters don't. But good thing we are all different. Edited December 18, 2022 by jeanlyon

Very true many of the "old" P&Oers on Aurora and Arcadia maiden voyages moaned about the size of them and said they were "huge". They said they were horrible, big and ugly compared to Victoria and Canberra. How times change and people's moans.

Britboys Posted December 18, 2022 #49 Share Posted December 18, 2022 As much as I don't like the bigger ships, I do think that the exterior lines of Iona & Arvia are an improvement on Azura & Ventura. Britannia seems to be the sleekest of the modern fleet but to my eye Aurora is far more elegant and streamlined to look at on the outside. I fully accept though that beauty is very definitely in the eye of the beholder.
Rare Windsurfboy Posted December 18, 2022 #50 Share Posted December 18, 2022 It's clear new ships are diverging, most getting bigger and bigger, except for a small niche of smaller luxury ships. However since the universal demand for balconies, non are sleek good looking ships of 40 years ago.
