We did a wonderful tour of the island this afternoon!  Photos to follow later.   We dined at the Castle View restaurant tonight located behind the ruins of Sam Lord's Castle.   It was excellent!  We board tomorrow and hopefully the internet gods and goddesses smile!

Firstly, I would like to apologize for the delay in posting.  Apparently my time management skills have fallen by the wayside since we left home.

I'll start with our stay in Bridgetown prior to boarding.  We spent 2 nights at Sam Lord's Castle.  It was beautiful.

We sailed on December 18th.  The boarding experience was seamless.  Our suite was ready when we boarded at around 2:30 pm.

The next day we were in Bequia.  We did the Bequia Heritage tour.  We visited the site of Fort Hamilton, a fishing village, a model boat shop and then we had a delicious rum punch.

Today we were scheduled for a  St. Kitts Scenic Railway tour from the Basseterre , St. Kitts port.  Photo from the sail in...

Here is the map of the intended route.  West coast by bus and east coast by train....

Here is the bus.....

DSC00327.JPG

We arrived at the transfer station at about 11:00 am.  We were informed that the train had broken down and that a mechanic was on the way to the train to make repairs. We sat around until 12:00 in an airconditioned bus waiting for the train to arrive.

Many of us did not want to wait for the train to be repaired and wanted to return to the ship.  That was not an option because the buses were needed to take the passengers on the broken down train back to their ships.

Finally the train arrived.  Myster and I refused to get off the bus because the train ride no longer appealed and we did not want to be stranded somewhere.  We got back to the port at about 1:30 pm.

Not a great tour.  Not the fault of Silversea!

Tomorrow is Gustavia, St. Barts.

We are considering this excursion for a future Caribbean cruise.  Did the passengers who took the full route enjoy it?  [I realize that the broken-down train would have impacted their views – and possibly their views!  {see what I did there? 🤣}]

The train broke down a mile from where it was scheduled to arrive to disembark passengers and pick up the embarking passengers.   Those on the train had access to complimentary beverages and snacks.  Their trip was probably very good.  Those waiting for the train to arrive to board....not so much.   Once again not a Silversea snafu. 😁

Today we were on anchor in Gustavia, St. Barts.  We had a 10:30 am excursion, Ernest's Tour, St Bart's Highlights by Minivan.  The tour started a little late due to traffic jams.  It was a wonderful tour.

Here is a map of the island.....

First stop was Grand Fond.

We headed south from there and then along the east coast and around the top of the island.  Next was Grand Cul-de-Sac.

We haven't.   Things were extremely hectic at the beginning of the cruise.   We are considering it for the next leg from Fort Lauderdale to San Francisco.  😁

Today we were at anchor in St. John, Cruz Bay, USVI.  We were required to do a face-to-face with US Immigration.  Our tour was scheduled to depart at 10:00 am with the immigration clearance beginning at 8:30 am.  The Immigration officers were delayed.  We eventually went through the process and headed to the tenders at about 11:00 am.

We took the St. John National Park Island tour.  We travelled in open air, covered transport.  The scenery was gorgeous.
