Good evening all,

I am late to the game again.

Spent the whole day working again.  However today we had help.  Two of the ladies from Service Master showed up.  Boy, are they good and fast.  They empty boxes so fast that I hardly have time to think where the things go.

The plan is for Jim and i to move in by the weekend and then clear out the apartment by the end of next week.

We are loving our new furniture and as soon as there are no boxes around and it looks nice, i will take a photo and post it.

We are getting there, slowly but surely.

On another note, the PMR is getting better.  It is not as bad as it was a few days ago.

Hope everyone is doing okay.

Praying for a swift recovery for both Jacqui and Kathi,.

Hope that Sarah is holding her own until she is able to get her injections.

Prayers for all the cares list an Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.

Dear Dad and I are doing fine.  We had a nice Christmas that we had to host and man was it a lot of work from the decorating to the cooking, although that part was a waste, we don't eat like we used to, and a lot of leftover food was thrown out in the end.  We've already made the decision to cater if we do it again next year.  Health-wise, No ER visits or hospital stays the last few months.  Currently we're waiting for the V.A. to deliver a hoyer lift and wheelchair, then PT will come back in for a month or so and train us on the equipment.  Even better news, a spot finally opened in the primary care at home program, I believe they got more funding, the need for better home health care is one of the few good things that came out of the pandemic.  However, we still got the townhouse stairs to contend with and we're considering a move to a 55+ community where all floor plans are designed on one level, that'll be either this year or next.  

 

I'm trying to figure out if we can handle a cruise.  Poor Dad has to sit there all day and watch commercial after commercial for wave season.  I know he terribly wants to go somewhere, but I have mixed feelings about it.  For one thing, it'll be far different than anything we've experienced in the past because of his disability, however if his CKD remains stable like it has been, it's possible.  We're looking at Oceania for the smaller ships, we're looking at NCL because of the Haven.  We're looking at Neptunes on HAL of course, anything that meets our wheelchair needs due to the lack of accessible staterooms, which never seem to be available on the sailings we're considering.  We were really interested in the 28 day arctic circle itinerary in 2024, but....the cost to rent equipment for that length of time would almost get us another cruise, in reality that might be too long for DD to be away from his specialized bed and care team.  This is just the tip of the iceberg, there are countless other issues too numerous to get into here.

 

I sure hope all of you had a nice holiday season, whatever you celebrate.  And I hope your enjoying your cruises as well.

Bruno, thanks for checking in.  That is good news that things have been stable medically for a while.  I'm also having to learn to cook less, or to cook things that will freeze well.  I hope 2023 is a much better year for both of you.

Terry, good to hear your niece's family were safe and sound.  Basements aren't as common in Georgia as they are in other parts of the country.  I'm happy we insisted on a basement lot when we bought here.  It's very reassuring.  And our electricity was only off for about an hour thank goodness.  We had a pot of ham and bean soup simmering so we turned that off for a while because it just seemed like a smart idea in case a tornado came through.  😳  But once we headed back upstairs we continued on with it.  Thank goodness for gas stoves!

It’s Rubber Duckie Day!  I was on the Sky Princess in March.  In one of the window wells — where I always drank my early morning coffee — I found a duck!  

 

 

(For those of you who are skeptical that I drank my coffee in an actual window well… I did not!)

 

My sister and I were in Nafplion mid-October.  It was lovely and peaceful and clean with narrow streets full of wonderful unique boutiques and tavernas.  I could easily rest here for an extended period.

In 2019, the Veendam took us to Napflion in the Peloponnese.  When we couldn't rent a car, we walked around town and then took the Ho-Ho which took us up to the fort overlooking the town.

A lot of pictures last night on the news about what happened near Sandi.  The worst part was that the building without the roof, was a Hobby lobby.  I was imagining balls of yarn blowing around the south, with hundreds of cats chasing them through the streets.  However, there are not many streets open down there,  lots of trees down.  So @StLouisCruisersSandi-stay home if you don't need to go anywhere. The governor has declared a state of emergency.

 

Highs yesterday upper 60's, today,  highs are low 40's. 

 

I have not had a bloody nose for years,  and today, I was sitting in the bathroom, and I felt my nose drip.  I have had that cough for years, I felt like I was coming down with something yesterday, so a runny nose would be expected.  Nope, it was blood, all over the floor, all over me,  it wouldn't stop.  I tilted my head back, and about drowned.  After about 10 minutes I got it to stop.  DH was asleep, otherwise I would have called out, it really was scary.  I wonder if this was an created by the shots I had yesterday?  Has anyone else had this happen after the boosters?  Booster 3, and flu shot.

 

Other than walking the dog, and fixing crock pot ribs, I have nothing planned.  So once the dog is walked, I will fix lunch and then go down for a nap.

 

To everyone who is posting food porn, thank you.  I had a granola muffin this morning,  the pics are making me hungry.

 

There are only two Friday the 13ths in 2023.  So celebrate the day.  The next one is in October.

 

 

We've definitely been staying home because local officials have begged people to stay out of the way for one thing, but mostly because there are so many trees here and they say trees and lines are down everywhere.  Hard to tell from our little cul-de-sac because everything looks exactly the same as before.  It will probably be a shock when we do leave here.  We had planned to do some grocery shopping yesterday but after the storm decided we had enough of everything to get by for several days.

I've been a little frustrated since our long-time physician retired a year ago.  I like her replacement but have only seen her once (Thankfully I usually don't have reason to see the doctor except for discussing my labs etc.).  My last physician always had my future labs set up in the system so all I had to do was make an appointment for them and go.  I realized there were no labs set up now, so contacted the clinic and finally they are set up (but no message from her or a nurse).  I really wonder sometimes how people who aren't proactive manage.  😞  I'm hoping for some good labs, especially because I lost almost 10 pounds when I was sick and haven't put it back on -- always good for the diabetic labs anyway 😉  

 

DH and I started watching The Crown last night (we're always the last to see new movies lol).  Somewhat ironic given the latest discussion here.  I'm enjoying the movie so far, but we've only seen the first episode.  

 

Tonight we'll be picking up the grandsons after school and have them here overnight.  Looking forward to that!

Annie, thanks hon but we had power (electricity) the whole time except for one hour.  I hear there are a lot of people still without power though.  There were actually 3 tornados here so it's supposed to be a real mess in parts of the town.  I realized how much I depend on internet for communication and cable to keep up to date on news and weather.  I hated being without it.  And yes, it's turned really cold and the wind isn't helping things any.🥶

Hi Lenda!  So kind of you to reply.  Yes, a lot of adjustments are having to be made.  But I'm thrilled Dad's health is better, that means more opportunities to do things, including travel.
