thanks for our Friday the 13th Daily, Roy.

i don’t have a rubber duckie but some determined people found one on the ship!  I’m getting skeptical about my elbow (OUCH -as sleep evades me for pain) so I guess I will  celebrate skeptics day.  It sure feels like Friday the 13th.

love today’s quote.

to answer  a question from yesterday - i am in a sling.  A wrapping and rigid thing under my arm and elbow.

my apple air tags told me my luggage was at our airport but there were no calls to deliver it.  A kind neighbour was chauffeuring me to drop off medical reports to my doctor for the appointment for next week and a couple of groceries and she said let’s go get it so we did.  Sheesh no one said anything when i picked it up.  Anyone could have taken it IMO.

I am blessed with kind neighbours and friends - 1 picked me up from the airport and got me bread, etc.  another picked up ice melt for me, another brought cut up chicken, muffins, chowder, etc and opened cans for me and another is helping me with medical dvd’s and picking up my mail.

the miserable storm started early this morning.  Thankfully, there is nothing i need and nothing to go out for.

this one finger typing is for the birds.  Takes forever and too many typos 😠

prayers for all who need them especially Kathi & Sarah.

Glad you got your suitcase. Apple air tags are so worth it. But I know what you mean about nobody checking it was actually your case. Same thing here in Windsor, just walk in, take, go.

typing with new finger will get better, especially if you can use an iPad to do your typing. My DSIL is always amazed at how fast I can one finger type on my iPad. Can’t do it that fast on a laptop or desktop and prefer to use the full keyboard and all fingers there. But the iPad is great for one finger.

hope your pain diminishes sooner rather than later so you can sleep better. Take care.

Good morning to all. My niece in Atlanta sent a picture of her family(baby, husband, two dogs, two cats) sheltering in the basement yesterday afternoon. They lost power for a while but otherwise no damage. Sandi,  @StLouisCruisers, I am so sorry to see the pictures of destruction near you and hope you get power restored soon.

I can be a skeptic but will eventually come around if something is well explained. We have not been to the port and the recipes look so good. Thanks , Debbie @dfish. We might try the hoisin sauce creation tonight.

In honor of. Friday the 13th, our two black cats

Today is Friday the 13th.  The Mega Millions jackpot is up to 1.35 billion dollars.  If everyone buys 13 tickets, it is bound to be bad luck for the Mega Million's people, and someone will take all their money.  If you don't believe me, well congratulations, you have officially celebrated International Skeptics Day. Thank God I am not superstitious at all.

Thank you for today’s Report & Daily Rich & Roy! I hope all our fabulous wild men Dailyites enjoyed their feast yesterday. I think we’d all appreciate pictures.

A bit of rain this morning. It was already 62, when Bindi and I went out earlier. I believe that is warmer than the high temperature of the next two days.  Just a gym class for me. Not sure what else I will do today.

A couple of aged super heroes…

Prayers for all who need our support. @Scrapnana & @kazu special prayers that you recover quickly. @grapau27 Graham, praying that the injections really help Sarah. I am also thanking God that she has you & Pauline by her side.

Cheers to all who are celebrating! Get well & stay well everyone!

************

Alexana Revana Vineyard 2019 Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills, Willamette Valley, Oregon

This Pinot sounds amazing. But it is outside of my budget. Maybe just a taste…

I used the 2019 vintage info. Quite a few online distributors with prices starting at $53.99.

Winemaker Notes

As Alexana's flagship Pinot Noir, this wine expresses their entire estate’s dramatically diverse terroir. An outlier within the famous sub-region of the Dundee Hills AVA. This unique expression of Oregon Pinot Noir comes from one of the Willamette Valley’s most respected vineyards.
WS93 Wine Spectator
Satiny and multilayered, with floral raspberry and pomegranate flavors that are laced with fresh violet and toasty spice notes. Drink now through 2029.
WE92 Wine Enthusiast
This pings the palate with cola and black cherry flavors, along with minerally acidity that buoys up rather than tarts up the palate. It's lighter than the previous vintage, balanced and appealing, with that streak of cola lingering on through the medium length finish.
W&S92 Wine & Spirits
This wine typically shows a spicy warmth, as it does in 2019—brambly and rich, with horehound, cherry and violet blossom scents giving way to a generous texture. It’s round and mouth-filling, quite irresistible, for something with wild mushrooms.
JS92 James Suckling
Pretty aromas of dried violets, fresh cherries, plum stones and nutmeg. It’s medium-bodied with fine, powdery tannins and fresh acidity. Sleek and refined. Elegant finish. Drink or hold.

Thank you Ann for your lovely words and concern for Sarah.

Good morning.  I would say I’m a pretty skeptical person… but in a positive and useful way.  I think everyone on this board has made a lot of their dreams come true.  I don’t think we are meant to have them all…. But I can keep dreaming!!

It’s Rubber Duckie Day!  I was on the Sky Princess in March.  In one of the window wells — where I always drank my early morning coffee — I found a duck!

(For those of you who are skeptical that I drank my coffee in an actual window well… I did not!)

My sister and I were in Nafplion mid-October.  It was lovely and peaceful and clean with narrow streets full of wonderful unique boutiques and tavernas.  I could easily rest here for an extended period.

This was a tender port.

In a park cross from the cliff he said “Go that way”.  So I did.

Which lead me to beautiful back streets.

Very late getting back today.  I try to be skeptical when appropriate, don't have a rubber duckie, and probably one of my dreams that came true was visiting Antarctica which has happened 3 times.  I think some decisions have to be re-thought and will pass on the salmon.  My alternative is Pineapple, Bannana, and Guava Compote with Oven Roasted Chicken, and Blueberry Sundae as served on MS Prinsendam  January 13, 2019:

I woke up to some sad news today.  One of the career firefighters at a station my county has lost his son in a snowboarding accident at Vail.

Good morning from sunny, cool (41F) and breezy central Texas.  So far this morning the heat pump is still working.

We both tend to be skeptical about somethings, but hopefully not many.  We made several of our dreams come true through traveling by motorhome and cruise ships.  We don't have a rubber duckie, but I think the DDs did have one when they were little.

The quote is pretty good, and we've learn to be flexible, especially when cruising since "ship happens".  Just don't say it fast.  🤣

I would take today's meal without the cucumbers.  However, like Debbie @dfish and Graham @grapau27  Graham, I think salmon is good by itself.  We'll pass on the drink, but the wine sounds nice even if it is a bit pricey.

We were in Napflion in 2019 on Veendam.  I find my pictures in a few minutes.

@ottahand7  Nancy, I'm not surprised the Machu Picchu excursion was canceled after so many were left stranded there last month.  The tour in Lima sounds lovely.  Thanks for the pictures of the Cellar Master's dinner.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, I'm glad you are all right, but sorry about the destruction of the nearby town and the loss of power, phone and internet.

@kazu  Jacqui, you have such lovely and nice neighbors.  I'm glad you now have your luggage.

@dfish  Debbie, I hope your doctors are following orders.  😉

@smitty34877  Terry, thanks for another great picture of Miss Camilla.  I can't believe how much she's grown in the past 18 months.  She is as cute and precious as ever.

@rafinmd  Roy, our condolences to the family of the firefighter who's son was killed, and to you and the other firefighters at the station.

@grapau27  Graham, I can believe all the controversy and confrontations did have an adverse affect on the Queen's health.

Thank you for today's lists Roy and your kind mention of Sarah.

I'm so sorry to hear the son of a career firefighter from your county has died in a snowboard accident.

Our prayers and sincerest condolences for his family and friends.

I'm sorry if the links I posted to @richwmn Rich's post with Napflion as the port of the day did not work.  They didn't work for me just then.  The only thing I can think happened is I posted them on my tablet, not my laptop.

In 2019, the Veendam took us to Napflion in the Peloponnese.  When we couldn't rent a car, we walked around town and then took the Ho-Ho which took us up to the fort overlooking the town.

Good Friday Morning Dailyites!  I read the list of days to DH, he didn't believe it!

A lot of pictures last night on the news about what happened near Sandi.  The worst part was that the building without the roof, was a Hobby lobby.  I was imagining balls of yarn blowing around the south, with hundreds of cats chasing them through the streets.  However, there are not many streets open down there,  lots of trees down.  So @StLouisCruisersSandi-stay home if you don't need to go anywhere. The governor has declared a state of emergency.

Highs yesterday upper 60's, today,  highs are low 40's.

I have not had a bloody nose for years,  and today, I was sitting in the bathroom, and I felt my nose drip.  I have had that cough for years, I felt like I was coming down with something yesterday, so a runny nose would be expected.  Nope, it was blood, all over the floor, all over me,  it wouldn't stop.  I tilted my head back, and about drowned.  After about 10 minutes I got it to stop.  DH was asleep, otherwise I would have called out, it really was scary.  I wonder if this was an created by the shots I had yesterday?  Has anyone else had this happen after the boosters?  Booster 3, and flu shot.

Other than walking the dog, and fixing crock pot ribs, I have nothing planned.  So once the dog is walked, I will fix lunch and then go down for a nap.

To everyone who is posting food porn, thank you.  I had a granola muffin this morning,  the pics are making me hungry.

There are only two Friday the 13ths in 2023.  So celebrate the day.  The next one is in October.

Good morning. Sunny and cold here in Durango but the temps are supposed to climb up into the high 40's today. Will feel sort of Spring-like. Winter is forecast to make a return appearance on Saturday night and then last through next week. Yesterday I restocked the fridge and made sure I have plenty of dog food.... we are all set. I have the snowplow bills all paid up to date so hopefully he will make appearances as necessary to keep the driveway and parking lots as clear as possible. There is no where i absolutely have to go next week so I can ride it out.

@kazusorry to hear that you are having pain with the elbow although I guess that is not unexpected. Glad you, and not someone else, liberated your suitcase. Sounds like you have good neighbors. A couple of mine are worth their weight in gold, and I do try to return the favor when I can. Now, if we can just get Kathi and Sarah on the road to recovery. And everyone else stay healthy. If you are cruising, continue to have a wonderful time. If not currently on board, think positive, dream on and stay well.

Susan

@kazu, how are you eating?  I know that the time or times I had my hand in a sling it was very difficult to find something I could eat not being able to use a knife and fork together.  My church was very nice about offering to shop for me but I could pretty much handle that; it was what to shop for that became a problem.

It really isn't a big deal for me to continue the Bon Voyages for a while since I still have 2 working hands.

Thank you Rich, double-thank you Roy, thank you Debbie, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for your daily contribution! And thank you all for being here!

Today is the unfortunate anniversary of a maritime disaster. In 2012, the Costa Concordia capsized off the coast of Iso del Giglio, Tuscany with the total loss of 33 people: twenty seven passengers, five crew, and one salvage team member. Smithsonian Channel in the US will be broadcasting a program this evening  "Cruise Ship Down: Saving Concordia."

Stay Safe!

Good morning all!

Interesting collection of days.  I like the quote, would like the salmon without the bun (especially the one with Hoisin Sauce), but will pass on the wine and drink.  We were in Nafplion in 2021, photos to follow.

I've been a little frustrated since our long-time physician retired a year ago.  I like her replacement but have only seen her once (Thankfully I usually don't have reason to see the doctor except for discussing my labs etc.).  My last physician always had my future labs set up in the system so all I had to do was make an appointment for them and go.  I realized there were no labs set up now, so contacted the clinic and finally they are set up (but no message from her or a nurse).  I really wonder sometimes how people who aren't proactive manage.  😞  I'm hoping for some good labs, especially because I lost almost 10 pounds when I was sick and haven't put it back on -- always good for the diabetic labs anyway 😉

DH and I started watching The Crown last night (we're always the last to see new movies lol).  Somewhat ironic given the latest discussion here.  I'm enjoying the movie so far, but we've only seen the first episode.

Tonight we'll be picking up the grandsons after school and have them here overnight.  Looking forward to that!

Terry @smitty34877thank you for the photo of your beautiful black cats -- I'm partial to black cats. 🙂  Also the new photo of adorable Camilla!  She's so cute!

We were in Nafplion in 2021 on the Eurodam.  We took a tour to Ancient Nemia and wine tasting.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Friday the 13th Fleet Report/Daily.

I try not to be too skeptical. I hope everyone's dreams come true. I'll salute national rubber ducky day; we had a large one here a few years ago, on the river. Good quote. I'll pass on the meal (not big on salmon), and drink; yes to the pinot noir if someone buys it for me.

I haven't been to Nafplio, but I have been to the Acropolis at Mycenae.

It's colder here today, in the low 30'sF, with snow flurries. Not much on my agenda, just continuing to try to organize the house. I find I don't get as much done on dull, dreary days; I prefer sunlight coming into the house.

@ottahand7 Enjoy Lima. And that meal looks great.

@grapau27 Continued prayers for Sarah, you and Pauline.

@StLouisCruisers I'm glad to hear you were safe from the tornados. Scary!

@kazu Wonderful to see you posting on the Daily! Thank goodness for you neighbor driving you to do errands you needed to do, and other neighbors helping you out. And I'm glad you got your luggage back. Prayers for less pain and good healing.

@aliaschief Thanks for the food photos.

@smitty34877 I'm glad your niece and family are ok. Thanks for the picture of Camilla; she's a big girl now!

@*Miss G* Thanks for the Nafplion photos.

@rafinmd Thanks for our lists. Condolences on the loss of the firefighter's son.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Good news that the heat pump is still working. Lovely Nafplion photos.

@marshhawk Good that you're ok from the storms. Sorry to hear about the serious nosebleed.

@Cruising-along I just got Netflix about a month ago; first I binge watched The Great British Baking Show, now I'm on to The Crown. Thanks for the Nafplion photos.

@Cruzin Terri Good that the house is coming along, although I'm sorry you and Jim have been on your own recently. I hope the PMR quiets down; are you back on Prednisone?

@USN59-79 I'm glad the leg is coming along well and you no longer need the bulky boot.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay well everyone.

In honor of Rubber Ducky Day, a photo of one on the Ohio River.
