Notice about Diamond Lounge on Harmony 2/26-3/12

Recommended Posts

We're sailing for two weeks on Harmony of the Seas.  Got this email today:

"Starting February 26th, 2023 through March 12th, 2023, we will be making some enhancements on Deck 4. During this time, we kindly ask for you to please pardon our dust.

Due to the Diamond Lounge's proximity to these efforts, we'll be hosting our Diamond Lounge morning and evening hours in alternate locations. Please check the virtual Cruise Compass for hours of operation.

Daily breakfast in Jamie's Italian

Evening cocktail hour in the Card Room

The Diamond Lounge operations will will continue as usual, but please know, we expect noise and dust in the surrounding area as our teams work. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused by this and thank you for your understanding."

I will be interested to see what "enhancements" they plan on deck 4.  My DD and I both reached  Diamond status last year, and we really enjoyed having coffee and playing cards in the Diamond Lounge on Oasis of the Seas.  We were looking forward to doing that on Harmony between 2/18 & 3/4.  Looks like our second week will be affected.

Wonder if they are actually serving breakfast in Jamie's.  Have never seen anything more than bagels, lox, donuts, toast, fruit, yogurt or a small breakfast burrito.

I hope not, Jazz on 4 is one of my husbands favorite places.

Da dup,...........Da dup........, Da dup..., Da dup,..Da DAAAAAAA!!!!!! The RCI JAWS of progress might be chomping at Jazz on 4.

There have been many postings and speculations about what is happening. Is it going to be a Casino smoking lounge (creating a smoke free main casino)?

These are the first confirmations of some sort of change.

The intrigue continues.

Stay tuned for the next installments........

Not really surprised, it was not very busy in there in March.  Was hoping that would improve with fuller ships.

I do not mean to make jest of a place that you and your husband enjoyed so much. 😔

At this time, it all seems to be about the "Benjamins" with RCI.

Jazz on 4 is adjacent to the DL.  There have been rumors that the jazz clubs will be converted to additional casino space, so that is a possibility.

See,,, but Royal has it all wrong with the casino. Like on the wonder, they have a tiny non-smoking casino. It should be the main casino as all non-smoking with a small smoking casino for those who can't make it to a designated smoking area. That is what NCL does.

I have read the rumors about Jazz on 4 being repurposed as a smoke-free casino.  I hope there will still be jazz there during our first week.  On other ships we have spent time in there almost every evening.  I think I saw comments from RCLL that there will still be jazz, but in different venues.

I agree with you….that’s what makes sense for the US market where the % smokers is 12% and falling.

I imagine it will still be the same "breakfast" as before, and the same appetizers in the evening as before.  The notice also mentions that the operation of the Diamond Lounge will continue as usual.  I hope that means that coffee and card playing can still continue, as long as we don't mind the noise and dust.  Maybe they just need to get the food away from the dust.

Our first "week" will have 8 days, taking us as far South as Curacao and Aruba.  Our second "week" will be only 6 days.  I avoid sweets, so we never went to the DL in the morning, and we dine early, so we were never there for the evening food.

Sadly, I think it will most probably mean the loss of Jazz on 4 for our second week. Boo Hoo.

That is my guess as well.

Maybe we will run into you onboard.  We embark Saturday (2/18) but only doing the 8-day leg.

Will try and make a point of stopping by the Diamond Lounge.  Due to it's location and our usual onboard activities, we only stopped in once on our last cruise and that was when we were coming back from being ashore and had to use the forward gangway.

I thought that did away with these when we started getting 4 free drinks?

It's for the hors d'oeuvres, you still have to use your vouchers.   We eat late, will sometimes go to the DL for a snack and a drink, and to talk/meet with others around 5 pm.

Last two cruises on Ovation and Quantum a few months ago the DL was packed every night. On Quantum the back of the DL was opened into the music hall to accommodate everyone.

The cocktail hour  hor d'ourves in the Diamond Club lounge is just temporarily being relocated here due to the construction.  What they did away with was having to be in the lounge to get free drinks.  Now you can get your drinks at most bars and the dining rooms as well as the Diamond Clube Lounge using the vouchers.

While I also agree, the cruise lines have been very cautious about kicking smokers out of the main casinos. They might only be 12% of the overall market, but they're a significant percentage of casino patrons. It was easy to see on Harmony last month. The "smoking side" (which is laughable since the whole place is full of smoke) was noticeably busier than the non smoking side.

DL is a great place to grab a cappuccino before heading into ice show
