By the time we get up in the morning she will be at sea heading to Dunedin, NZ.  A little more difficult to keep up with our time differences.

Looks like a lovely day there.

My DB has seen a specialist about his lung disease and definitely has pulmonary fibrosis, scarring in the lungs causing trouble breathing.  This is a terminal disease and doctors tell him average lifespan is 3 years.  There are 2 FDA approved treatments to slow it down, each cost $10,000/month with possible grant availability for what insurance does not cover. It might help bring down the cost to $3,000 a month, still a ridiculous amount.  The application process for one of the treatments, OFEV, has begun. The process is convoluted. Once he begins treatment, he will see the doc once a month with blood draw to check liver function. After 3 months, if everything looks good, he will be seen and tested every 3 months.  He is almost certain this was caused by his job as a lithographer at a can factory where they made soda and beer cans.  They use a printing method on aluminum that uses a chemical reaction.  He said he thinks part of it was caused by 25 years of breathing toxic fumes, using hazardous materials, and working around asbestos.  He was never a smoker.  He also states a majority of his former coworkers died of emphysema or lung cancer.  I wonder if we could put him on the Care list rotation?  Terry @smitty34877 is this the same disease that Tana has?  Didn't you mention that hers got worse after having Covid, because that is what happened to DB.

Sandi, I am so sorry to hear this.  He is definitely in my prayers.  Sometimes the drug companies will cover the cost as well as a trial.  He is definitely in my prayers.

I am so sorry I missed this before.  I am so wrapped up in my own situation that I am forgetting about everyone else.

Prayers for your brother and his family and for you as well.

God Bless,

Terri

Thank you Terri.  We all have our problems that we are wrapped up in.  All any of us can do is pray, and I appreciate yours and the others here.

Good evening. It was a gorgeous day here today. Now it's thundering! And my eye is red and light sensitive, sigh. I hope the pharmacy can find a bottle of my strong drops which were out of stock; I have one, but want a backup..

I spent time going through scads of herbal meds at BFF's Dad's place. Most was expired and of questionable value. He paid lots for it, and I think much of it had no real value. Then I went through 3 large drawers of photo equipment. What a collection! When we get back from our trip, I may try to put some up for sale on ebay.

@durangoscots Sorry to hear about the roof leak. I'm sure you can't wait until you're off the BOD of the shelter.

@luvteaching Good to hear about the nice conversation with DH when you couldn't be there.

@marshhawk Oh my on you and DH both being ill after having dinner. I hope you're ok today.

@Cruising-along @Sharon in AZ Thanks for the Saguenay photos.

@kazu It sounds like your therapy is going well and you have a good PT person.

@StLouisCruisers Good news on the blood tests. I am so sorry to hear about your DB's condition, and the cost of the medications. All these new cutting edge treatments are so expensive; I hope he can get assistance with the cost. Prayers for him. I had an acquaintance with IPF, and he got a lung transplant.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Excellent news about DH's report from the surgeon.

Supermarket this morning, several items on my list were not available, for instance, no Cauliflowers, as the truck transporting goods had broken down near Christchurch.

But we did buy Pork Chops.May try one of the recipes posted by  @dfish  Thank you.

@JazzyV In case no one has already asked, could we please add to the Care List the family of the Nieuw Statendam entertainment crew member who died in a diving accident during a port stop in Curacao yesterday?

Thanks,

-M.

@Quartzsite Cruiser,Lenda, I was happy to read that D H got a good report on his spine.I am sure you were both very happy to know things are healing well.

Thank you for your kind thoughts about Tana. She is an excellent  fighter and keeps up a good front. She worries  about all of us too much.

Terry, thank you.  Yes, we were both very happy with the doctor's report.  As I've said before, I admire Tana's attitude and fighting spirit in the face of all her problems.

First of all, many, many thanks to all for the wonderful answers to me for the communication information!  Last time I traveled to Europe was before the cell phone age, so staying in touch wasn't the issue.  Guess it is just the info about the outcome of DSSon's surgery outcome that was mu concern.  I have an iPhone, as does DDIL, and DSDaughter!

Got my airline seat situation resolvesd.  I was talking to my PCC and he got the seat assignment for the London-Dallas leg.  That one was my concern, since I had paid for business class.  And he also got my Dallas-home seat, which was of no concern at all.  It is a 10:30 pm flight and I have been on it several times, and I can literally stretch out, if I want.  FEW passengers.  During this conversation, I also took advantage of a decent upgrade.  This TA will be a once in a lifetime for me (because of paying double), so I want as much as I can feel comfortable with, $$$ wise.

@StLouisCruisersI was so sad to read of the IPF diagnosis with your DB.  That was what my late DH had.  He lived almost 4 years after diagnosis.  The medications were in very early stages at the time, and because of his age, he wasn't eligible for them.  Besides his WTC exposure, I am sure that Agent Orange in Vietnam didn't help.  Hope that a grant can be obtained for the meds.  From what I learned, the meds seems to be successful.

That is good news your PCC got your seat assignments for your flights.

Vanessa, there are some camera stores that will buy old photo equipment.  They might also be able to give you an idea of their worth.  I know your BFF appreciates your helping him go through his DF's things.
