I hadn't thought of that, but yeah, a lot of folks seem to have a need to share all of their medical issues -- in way too much detail.
Truepeacenik Posted October 22, 2023 #78 Share Posted October 22, 2023 Drink (I’m a zero proof/bubbles etc sort) Gamble. Partake in sales activities Tried the spa…felt like my old job! Nope. Not a meetings person (I’m shy, but I was in a fan cruise, so that segment had a meet n greet, and I’m personal friends with a few others there) Neglect to have at least pleasantries in the local language in ports (even if I cheat with a note on my phone) Eat just because food is available. (I wish I had this control with soda) Wear graphic T-shirts with lettering. Discuss politics, aside from quietly one on one…and not for long. I am interested in others people’s opinions. But I’m also interested in problem solving over just yammering. Bother with the TV!

RICKnVICK Posted October 23, 2023 #80 Share Posted October 23, 2023 I don't wear t-shirts announcing I am on a cruise lol (because I and everyone else know I am) I don't do the art gallery shopping talks regarding ports of call I don't complain about things on my cruise because a vacation is what you make it and I enjoy all of mine! Happy Cruising yall! Vicki

crystalspin Posted October 23, 2023 #82 Share Posted October 23, 2023 Spa. Pool. Trivia. Gamble. Art (auctions or other purchases). Photos (although I have vowed to let them snap us, as they get paid for taking not selling). Oh, and also do not turn on the television after watching the muster video. It does not look like fun to me. I don't enjoy the alcohol tastings either. I am perfectly okay with my beverage package. 🥂
Rare Kmkub Posted October 24, 2023 #85 Share Posted October 24, 2023 Never do any of the pseudo-science stuff offered by the spa. Never let another person’s attire ruin my meal.

No ,I guess I can tell you because nobody who will read this knows my name whereas on a cruise everyone introduces themselves . I spent 6 years as a Health Insurance Frauds Investigator and many of those who I cited lost their licenses to practice. Two went to jail but not solely because of my investigation .There were several investigatory groups involved.

Passenger led services are usually held in a private room and they don't bother anyone. We sometimes attend Shabbat services on the ship. We don't bother anyone as we are in a private room and people of any faith are welcome to attend if they wish. I do agree that ANY public display of religious stuff is a no-no including saying a blessing before the meal. DON I bow my head and say a silent grace at every meal. I would never expect/demand my table mates join in. On 2 separate cruises we sat with people who were quite insistent that the whole table say grace. Both times were quite a lot. 🙁
navybankerteacher Posted October 24, 2023 #88 Share Posted October 24, 2023 Act like a vulgar schlub - which activity seems to be enjoyed by a fair number of cruisers.

But if you look at the list of things we DON'T do, I have to break up the Kindle reading and drinking my Beverage Package with something! My husband looks at expensive watches even though he has one for every day of the week I think.

That too me is forcing their views on others.

I’d retort that if they are willing to give thanks to Beelzebub with me, I’ll thank whomever they want,. Because, C’mon… that’s utterly ridiculous. I’ll happily sit quietly while others do their thing. If they insist on my compliance, I’ll just ask the Maitre D for a new table and won’t hesitate to explain why. 4 2

We have been on almost 20 cruises, and it has only happened twice. On our 1st cruise at the Midnight buffet, and then a few years later when DH and I took our first "No Kids" cruise. Both of these incidents took place when we sailed Carnival. I don't think the line matters, it was just the only cruise line we sailed on where we shared a larger table with strangers. If someone expected/insisted that I partake in their grace then we are going to have a problem. That would be the same as me insiting they cannot say grace - it doesn't work that way. We have to respect each other and understand that your beliefs are just that - YOURS. Religion and politics do not belong at the dinner table. Like you said, bow your head and say a silent grace and everything is fine. Heck, I don't even care if you say it out loud. I just don't want to partake in it.
OldCaver Posted October 27, 2023 #98 Share Posted October 27, 2023 I would NEVER Be disrespectful to any staff person. Pressure bar staff to violate the rules about sharing my drink package. Go to the buffet and put more food on my plate than I am likely to eat. Sit outside near the pool. I would NEVER AGAIN (see the difference?) Attend an art auction. Once was more than enough. Put money into a slot machine. Stay dressed up after formal night. In fact, I'd rather just hit the buffet and stay away from the promenade, or wherever they've stationed the photographers. Participate in the "Karaoke Super Star" thing. I can entertain a crowd, but competing takes all the fun out of it. Think of a ship's excursion as the highlight of the cruise. That will only triple the odds of it getting canceled just before we get to the meeting place. 😜
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted October 27, 2023 #99 Share Posted October 27, 2023 I never use the swimming pools or hot tubs. I never use the spa. I never buy expensive jewelry in the luxury stores. I never miss a production show. I never fail to tip extra to the room steward even the worst ones because I really appreciate what they do. I never use the casino, even the non-smoking casinos. I apprecate all those who do gamble because it reduces the price of the cruise for everyone. Many thanks. I never book an inside room because I am claustrophobic. I do appreciate the good value those rooms offer to hardier folks than I am. I never under pack, but always always over pack and swear everytime I will bring half the stuff next cruise.
