Good morning from a cloudy 46°F North East England.

Many thanks Sandi @StLouisCruisers for bringing us today's daily reports.

3 interesting days.

Not sure about today's food.

I have a physio appointment tomorrow morning about my hips.

I hope everyone on the care list is improving.

Good wishes for wonderful cruises to those on or currently due to cruise.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Graham.

Bicycle day.

Today in History:

1770 British explorer Captain James Cook first sights Australia. Writes in his log book that “what we have as yet seen of this land appears rather low, and not very hilly, the face of the Country green and Woody, but the Sea shore is all a white Sand.”

Good morning friends!  This morning we have a temp of 50F, but will have a high of 82 and sunny skies.  Perfect!  Thank you to Rich @richwmn who prepared the items on the Fleet Report and Daily.  I see today is Debbie's @dfish's favorite, National Garlic Day!  Somehow we missed Carrot Day on April 4!  Just kidding Debbie!  Also today is National Hanging Out Day.  According to daysoftheyear.com that means we should help the environment by hanging our clothes out to dry and help to extend their life.  I was kind of thinking I'd like to just "hang out" and do nothing today.  Take your pick!  It's also Bicycle Day, but I don't have one. 🚲 As a kid of course everyone had a bike.  Lots of fun times riding around with your friends.

A good quote today by Friedrich Nietzsche, and Grilled Tilapia Piccata for the menu item. 🐡 The drink is called pineapple crush and definitely sounds fruity. 🍍 Then we have another pinot noir this time from New Zealand.  🍷  Many thanks for all that Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard do to represent the Food and Beverage Department.  Lots and lots of good info from them.

Thanks also go to Vanessa @JazzyV who has been doing the Care and Celebration list since February.  We appreciate how hard it is to keep track of everyone.  In addition we'd like to offer our prayers to everyone who is sick or having surgery or has lost someone special in their lives.  Prayers for all, and we're thinking of you this week @Mr. Boston.  🙏  We'd also like to congratulate everyone with celebrations and cruises.🥂🎉🎈  Bon voyage!   Also a big thanks to Rich @richwmn for his this day in history posts.  Very interesting today about Australia.

Today our port is Flam, Norway, the second time we've had it here.  Last time was February 17, 2022.  Whenever we hear that port the Flam Railway comes to mind.  I enjoyed my visits there and will post my photos again.  I hope you have some to share, too!

We were happy to visit Flam twice on the Prinsendam in 2016 and 2017.  The photos are from the 2016 Best Norway Cruise Ever as we call it.

There's only room for one ship at the dock so we tendered over to Flam.  DH and I had purchased our tickets online for the train ride up the mountain and back down.  It was much less expensive and we didn't want to wait and possibly have them sell out.  This little village gets very busy when the ships are in town and everyone wanting to take that train ride.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLcVpCwHxj5PsIqcP3nsnVb?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468080155

There is a small museum, a tourist train, a little "mall", and of course the visitor center.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKBmlTfpEK8_oJmBkizGp8O?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468080165

You see little towns, colorful buildings, and beautiful scenery with waterfalls and rushing river water.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLue59Sg74VUsqSJ4ddqyRP?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468080293

We went by several small stations along our route.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLDqf2aFAMhHOSg-sKe4PvJ?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468080405

Sometimes we pulled off the main track and let a train pass by going downhill to Flam.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKycHmljvHIChLC-V1BjBYk?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468080449

The train stops and lets everyone see the Kjosfossen waterfall.  Pretty misty right here!00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVL2xQi0ofyFm6iCxDbKlOtc?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468080564

Keep your eye on that little stone ruin there.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKCx4geqAtaDMDLPsOcsAp9?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468080581

Suddenly you hear some eerie music coming from hidden speakers and we see a seductive forest creature emerge to dance for the tourists.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVK3e4KNMgICrKKwCQ7z6bE-?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468080595

The train then continues up to Myrdal with more nice scenery.  This is supposedly the steepest train route in Europe.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVL8DpJqjTCRWXIpjtSEB8on?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468080635

The train stops in Myrdal and that's where we do our backtracking to Flam.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIB9BA_Cc1IT-gKRxFlFffX?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468080684

Going back down you of course see the same scenery only on the opposite side for better viewing.  The train stopped again at the waterfall to see the nymph once more.  Different moves!  Hope that wig doesn't fall off!00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIxqF6nRROPGsu5V-bxQ-TP?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468080825

Lots and lots of smaller waterfalls on the route.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLvvaiI0XFFY5HUuxaQkmIe?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468083867

I'd say the whole trip took around 2 hours.  We walked around the small town a bit and headed back to the Prinsendam.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIyWylQHw_swUEirB2c855v?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1468081216

Thanks for the Fleet Update and General Info SLC & JV too.

I thought National Hanging Out Day was to hang out with your buddies for the day but no; it’s hang out your clothes day. Y’all no what that means. Outdoor clothes shopping for me. Hope I can find something hanging that fits and easy to get too. Last year on this day the neighbors put locks of their clothes pins.

And Bicycle Day. I think I will ride my special bike today.

Good morning.  Thanks for the Hump Day Daily and Fleet Report.

Another cold day here, we had a dusting of snow overnight.  Ugh.  I did laundry and hung it on the clothes line to dry last Saturday, too cold for me to do that today.  I love garlic!  I don't have a bicycle now.

Though provoking quote.

I'll pass on the meal.  The drink sounds tasty, hope the wine is too.

Thanks for the pictures and comments about Flam.  I haven't been there, maybe someday.

Prayers for everyone.  Cheers for all the celebrations, no matter how small.

Have a wonderful day.

Good morning on this chilly Wednesday in Pennsylvania.

Thank you for the Daily and Fleet Report.

In honor of National Hanging Out Day, I am hanging out at home and will see clients virtually this afternoon.

Love all of the pictures. I will have to try the Pineapple Crush; it looks like a lovely drink. The meal looks good, I just have a terrible time cooking fish.

Today I have a dentist appointment.

Not that I'm counting, but 39 days until I sail to Alaska.

Keeping you all in my thoughts!

Good Morning, thanks for today’s daily fleet report.  It’s a beautiful day with the sun shining, although a bit cool.  Today’s drink sounds very good.  I’ll pass on today’s meal suggestion and am planning on making spaghetti.

We needed to turn the heat back on since yesterday was so overcast.  Slight glitch when turning on the upstairs split unit, it wouldn’t turn on.  We thought it the batteries in the remote so I ran out and got aaa batteries. That wasn’t it.  I then remembered that we had the electrical add the surge protector last week so I went to the fuse box.  They turned off the split.  Once it was turned back on everything worked.  DH was happy since he was the one complaining about the coolness in the house.

I hope everyone has a good day today.

Thank you Sandi & Rich, for bringing us today’s R & D! Another lovely, slightly nippy morning, but the sun is already warming it up. The birds are all happily singing and a couple of fawns are frolicking outside my patio area. 😎

Vanessa, thank you for taking such good care of our Cares & Celebrations! As Sandi said - We appreciate it!

My fridge’s ice maker is sick. Within the past two weeks it went on strike for two entire days. So before it dies completely, my appliance repair guru is going to look at it. The fridge is an LG, so I am hoping it can be replaced, since it is more than 7 years old. So this should make for an exciting afternoon. Bindi walks, my 🤞🏻 final plant delivery and chores will fill my day. If the stars & planets align, I will make my HIIT class.

Prayers for all who need our support.  Cheers to all who are celebrating! Get well & stay well everyone!

2019 Craggy Range Pinot Noir, Martinborough, New Zealand

I used the 2019 vintage info, since that was the most recent vintage with reviews. But since all released vintages share the same superb - excellent reviews and similar prices - grab whatever vintage you find. I found several online distributors with prices starting at $27.98.

Winemaker Notes

Notes of strawberry, blueberry and white truffle. Undeniable depth of flavor that is exciting and vibrant.

Pairs well with pan seared and roasted duck leg, fresh pasta and sautéed mushroom risotto.

JS97 James Suckling
This has hit an impressive trajectory with very well-curated, fresh blueberry, red-cherry and black-cherry aromas, swathed in sweet baking spices and fresh-tilled earth. The palate has sleekly defined tannins, carrying intense, ripe blueberry and red-cherry flavors, amid deeply buried spice. Impressive, this is the finest Aroha to date. Drink or hold.
WE95 Wine Enthusiast

This is not a timid wine. It's rich and round, wearing its brambly, medicinal, earthy, spicy and floral colors loud and proud. The silky mouthfeel is tugged into place by sappy tannins. There's intensity, balance and structure, and a real sense of place. Drink now.

Thanks for our Hump Day Daily, Sandi.

Great collection of days.  Love garlic and I often hang out the laundry every season BUT winter. 😉 I’ll pass on the bike since I don’t have one.

Interesting quote - true in a lot of ways, I think.  I was supposed to be visiting today’s port in a month - but alas, that cruise is not to be. 😔  Perhaps another time.

Sorry, while I did read I didn’t get back to posting yesterday - busy day with the visit and pondering.  Thank you all for your good wishes for my visit with Ivan.

He’s a toy lover, curious and affectionate.  He is bigger than I had originally been told and understood, though.  Mind you he needs grooming badly (which always makes a dog look bigger) and to lose some weight IMO.

I am pondering and considering a trial.  Need to make sure there is room at my dogs’ vacation home, too.

Best wishes for your eye surgery today @dobiemom I hope all goes well and recovery is not too difficult 🙏🏻

I hope Bruce @aliaschief is feeling better today.

Extra prayers for our daily-ites who are all suffering losses and for the too many shooting victims of late 🙏🏻

Have an appointment to get the tires changed today - that was always DH’s job so I don’t look forward to it.  But it has to be done.  I don’t even know why I put snow tires on the SUV.  It was in the garage for months between my trip and inability to drive LOL.

Prayers for those on the Care list & for those that need them and a toast 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Good morning.  Another freezing morning in Michigan.  It is really a problem for the fruit orchards because the 80s started the budding process.    All my plant sale plants are perennials and they are up against the warm garage and they look just fine.  Sorry I missed yesterday, minor surgery which was a repeat of 5 years ago.   I felt fine when I was home at 11:30 but after lunch I promptly fell asleep for 3 hours.    All is well.

Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports Sandi and Rich.   Sandi I remember your beautiful photos from Flam from last year, especially the guy in the wig brought back my recall.   What a beautiful place to stop.    I will pass on the Tilapia, we aren't big on farmed fish, a weird cocktail with sage in it but the Craggy Range sounds like a winner.    John had a 1/2 case of 2005 when he moved in and the bottles were still good.  @JazzyV thanks for keeping our care and celebrations list.   Prayers for all on our care list, the continuing list of shooting victims and for the people of Ukraine.

I will try to bundle up later today and get some outside cleanup.   I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday.      Nancy

Good morning, everyone!

It is a cold start to the day with a temperature of 29F.  We are supposed to warm up to 55F.  I'll take it.  The messy paint job has been postponed.  I forgot about having to pay for my surgery in March along with the withdrawal by the IRS for my federal taxes.  That brought me down close to zero.  So, painting will have to wait.

Nothing on the agenda for today except a nice walk later this morning when things warm up a bit. National Garlic Day is my day!   I love garlic and would put it in my oatmeal.  There are so many health benefits to garlic.  It was used as an antibiotic in WWII when they couldn't get any on the front lines.  A doctor once "prescribed" garlic to me when I had swollen glands.  Relief within an hour!   Here are the health benefits of garlic:

  • Boosts immunity

Who knew boosting your immunity could be as simple as eating more garlic? According to one study involving 41,000 women between the ages of 55 and 69, those who routinely ate garlic, fruits and vegetables had a 35% lower colon cancer risk.

  • Works as an anti-inflammatory

Research has shown that garlic oil works as an anti-inflammatory. If you have sore and inflamed joints or muscles, rub them with garlic oil. The Arthritis Foundation even recommends it to help prevent cartilage damage from arthritis.

  • Improves heart health

Research also indicates that garlic can have a positive impact on your arteries and blood pressure.

Researchers believe red blood cells turn the sulfur in garlic into hydrogen sulfide gas. That expands our blood vessels, making it easier to regulate blood pressure.

Before putting your blood pressure medication away, though, consult your doctor to see if adding more garlic to your diet could be beneficial for you.

  • Clears up skin

Garlic’s antibacterial properties and antioxidants can clear up your skin by killing acne-causing bacteria. One study shows rubbing raw garlic over pimples can clear them away.

Be aware, though, that garlic could cause a burning sensation on your skin. Consult your dermatologist first before trying this technique, especially if you’re using any other skin care products.

  • Protects your food

Those same antibacterial properties in fresh garlic can kill the bacteria that lead to food poisoning, including Salmonella and E.coli. Don’t use garlic as a substitute for proper food sanitation and food handling, though.

  • Treats athlete’s foot

Garlic also fights fungus. If you have athlete’s foot, soak your feet in garlic water or rub raw garlic on your feet to attack the itch-causing fungus.

Today's meal is another versatile one.  If you don't like fish, substitute chicken.  If you don't like tilapia, use a different type of fish.  I love piccata and this sounds like a great dinner for me tonight!  https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/grilled-tilapia-piccata/

This next recipe dusts the fish fillets in flour first.   https://www.seriouseats.com/fish-piccata-5212223

This last one uses some white wine in the piccata sauce and cooks the fish in a packet.  You can put the packet on the grill if you wish.   https://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/grilled-tilapia-piccata-en-papillote

Good morning.  Prayers for all in need.  Roy — happy to hear of your positive medical reports.

Very cold here again.  Walking is more of a chore when temperatures are low and the wind is blowing around.  But it is good for one’s health.

I was able to book a trip for next February.  It is one that my sister has been bugging me to book since both she and her husband will be going.  But the accessible cabins for DH are few and far between.  One opened up yesterday but it can accommodate 3.  Had to get “permission” to book.  Royal seems to be getting fussy about letting 2 people book cabins that can accommodate more than 2.  But after about an hour on the phone I was successful.

Best wishes for a great day.  I am off to my card club this afternoon.  I joined the club in January, 1980.  Yikes!  Some of us are getting old.  😀  Katherine

Happy Hump Day and thank you Rich, Sandy, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann and Dixie.  Clothes lines are prohibited in my area, while I don't dislike garlic I'm not really a fan.  I was an avid bicyclist from youth until about 1990, and have ridden from Lakeland to Miami and from Baltimore to Montreal.  Interesting quote by Nitsche.  I have not been to Flam.  As well as Captain Cook finding Australia today is the 28th anniversary of the Murrah Building bombing,  That hit me personally as it was the local Social Security office.

I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Papaya, Pineapple, & Orange, Turkey Roast with Giblet Gravy, and Cranberry, and Blueberry Sundae as served on MS Zaandam April 19, 2017:

Good morning everyone. Better to be under the weather then under the ground. Between Mucinex, Day Quill and Afrin Spray I’m feeling better or maybe it was the wee dram of whisky! Not sneezing, coughing so I believe I will go on today’s excursion. A walking food tour!

We chose sleep last night over going to see Boy Band Evolution in main showroom. Tonight Tom Hanks A Man Called Otto is playing twice in showroom. Last night was Orange Night and I believe we saw more folks dressed in some form of orange clothing then ever before.

We’ll be headed for breakfast in the Pinnacle. Will probably be a lite meal in order to keep room for food tour.

Thanks for putting me on Care List but I can be removed.

Thanks everyone and have a great Hump Day!
