The rain has ended and the day looks promising, lots of sunshine and some warmer temperatures.🙂

Not much on the agenda for today, hope to get a nice long walk.

 

A great collection of days.  A big THANK YOU to the Red Cross.  Waiters and waitresses work hard, I know, I worked as a waitress while in university.  I write memos all the time, most of them for me.

Blue Stallion Julep cocktail:

 

Ingredients
2 parts Maker's Mark® Bourbon
1 1/2 parts DeKuyper® Blueberry Schnapps Liqueur
1 part Simple Syrup
Fresh Blueberries
Fresh Mint Sprig

Instructions
Muddle together 1/3 cup fresh blueberries, DeKuyper® Blueberry Schnapps and simple syrup. Add the Bourbon, stir well and top with lots of crushed ice. Garnish with fresh mint.
(Optional Mint Simple Syrup: Bring equal parts sugar, water and a handful of mint leaves to a boil, stir frequently. Turn off heat, set aside to cool and strain / remove the fresh mint.)

Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! Another lovely morning here! Yesterday turned out to be a lovely day.  
 

Eva, thinking of you and your family. Thank you for sharing that your Dad took care of his final arrangements. My family knows what I want, but I am planning on taking that burden off their shoulders altogether. 
 

Off to the gym early, then Aldi, Bindi walks, yard work and pool time. 
For you white wine lovers - my friend served an Australian Viognier with dinner last night that was lovely. It was medium- full bodied, dry and not very acidic. It had such a fruity nose, I was afraid it would be sweet, but it wasn’t. And it had the color of a Chardonnay, but it certainly didn’t taste like one.

Nice collection of days - the Red Cross is such an invaluable organization and so worthy of celebration.  Like many, I was a waitress for a number of years to help pay for my education and they all deserve our appreciation.

 

LOL on the quote - It seems one of my big temptations doesn’t avoid me 😉 

 

 

the meal sounds good - looking forward to the description of it and the wine.  We went to Tangier a few years ago.  It is much cleaner & nicer than Casablanca IMO.  

 

 

My helper showed up and my compost bin is nearly full of dandelions.  (I have enough flowers for the pollinators.) and he helped me move up my boxes of dahlias and the heavier ceramic planters.  Since it wasn’t going to get too cold, I put all my begonia planters out and decided to leave them out overnight.

 

BIG mistake.  It is pouring rain and very windy so I slowly moved them back in and got soaked before the wind ripped them apart ‘sigh’. Looks like an indoor day - at least until the rain stops.  Wicked out.

 

Hopefully some of this rain finds it’s way to Alberta - it would sure help with their fires.

Good morning friends!  This morning's weather report is 64, partly cloudy with a chance of occasional showers this afternoon and a high of 77.  Thanks to Rich for today's Fleet Report and Daily.  Several worthy days to celebrate.  The American Red Cross Founder's Day honors the organization and its founder, Clara Barton.  I also think waiters and waitresses should be appreciated for that difficult job.  I was a waitress at around age 16 for a couple years while in high school and you really have to be on your toes. I suppose memos can be an important method of communication but not as important to me as some of the other days we've celebrated.  I am interested in hearing about the spicy fried "chicken" sandwich.  Are we going to be fooled into thinking tofu is chicken?  The cocktail sounds different, and the wine I have no idea from that name what it is.  Another aviator to honor, this time the first female to fly solo across the Atlantic. 🎉  Almost forgot the quote!  Very funny about avoiding temptation as we grow older.  Some folks never get to that point though as they always seem to find a way to get themselves into trouble.  So thanks Rich @richwmn, Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for helping us out with those fun facts, menu suggestion, drink and wine today.

 

Prayers for our Care list this morning.  Special prayers for Eva @superoma and family as they prepare to lay their Father to rest.  Hoping for improvement for all those ailing on the list.  🙏  Hurray for the Celebration list folks, and for Father David back from his pilgrimage.  I suppose Annie @marshhawk is disembarking today in Vancouver so we may see her home shortly unless I missed a post-cruise vacation mentioned.  Cheers to you all!🥂

Morning everyone. @dfish Debbie, last night I finally had the opportunity to grill your chicken honey mustard recipe you shared months ago. It was very good. Thanks.

Church services at eight and we haven’t planned anything as yet for today. Maybe more cruise planning which is always part of the fun of cruising. Good planning produces great adventures. Always amazes us how so many folks embark onto the ship without a clue as to what they plan to do.

Good morning, everyone!  

 

What a day yesterday.   I was up by 5:30 am and out the door at 6:15 am.  We met River and her aunts and other grandma for breakfast in Reed City and then went to the soccer game.  It was cold and misting, so we earned our wings being there for 3 little girls.  After the game we stopped by Sue's old house so she could dig up her flowers.  Then we stopped to say hi to a friend of hers.  They tried to hire me as a Math teacher at their high school for next year, but I declined.  Too far to go, no interest in full time work.  We got home in time for me to make a cake for later and then attend my 2:00 pm Zoom meeting.  One of Sue's former bosses came over to take her out to eat in celebration of her retirement and then they came back for dessert and coffee.  They were here until early evening.  

 

We have nothing planned for today.  We might go for a walk.  If we have the energy.

 

Today's meal sounds great to me.  You can control the level of spice by limiting the hot peppers, but I rather like the bite to it.  I do think since there are so many great chicken sandwiches out there that I would probably just go buy one.  This first recipe calls for the chicken to be soaked in a buttermilk marinade.   https://www.cookerru.com/spicy-chicken-sandwich/

Good morning, everyone. Thank you for the Daily and Fleet report. Nice collection of days. 

Today will be warm, high of 80. Nothing much going on today except a family get together via Zoom. 

I am packed! I got the checked bag under 40 pounds. I am ready to go. In 7 days, I will be boarding New Amsterdam in Whittier. Of course, this is after 14 hours of flying cross country. Jet lag will not be my friend. As I am spending the night in Anchorage, I have to figure out how to sleep when there will be only a few hours of darkness. It will be a great adventure. 

Thinking of everyone today.

Good morning. The rain finally stopped but left behind some humidity. It will be warmer today and up to 75. The quote is funny and very true. My BFF has been saying for years that one becomes invisible as age progresses….I also was a waitress during college and never forgot how hard the job can be.  We have not been to the port and look forward to the recipe.  
Yesterday I made the ceasar  salmon in foil packet recipe in the oven since the outdoor grill was  out due to rain. I think the  group liked it as much as the strawberry relish recipe. Thanks once again to Debbie @dfish.

Thank you Rich, Eva, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann.  Red Cross Founders Day is special and I'll celebrate the many who have followed, including our own @cruzn single.  I think Email may be the new version of memo.  I'll salute all waiters and waitresses, especially those who balance platters while at sea.  I'm OLD but still not quite old enough to avoid tempataion.  Interesting that both Lindbergh and Earhart made their marks in lat May but 5 years apart.  I've been to Agadir and Casablanca but not Tangier.  I prefer my chicken mild and not really in a sandwich.  My alternative is Fruit Palette and Oven Roasted Chicken as served on MS Prinsendam May 21, 2015.

 

Worship will be from home today.  The entire AV crew has the day off and the equipment will be tested in automatic mode.

Good Morning from Portland,  thanks for today's report.   When I woke up at 5 it looked nasty outside.  Now that we are docked it's nice and sunny, although too cool for DH.  We dont have anything planned so will walk around after 10 when the stores will open.  I like today's meal suggestion. I finally remembered to book Pinnacle Grill for lunch.

Thanks for the information given today!  It is very interesting to read.

 

It is supposed to get up to 96F (35C) today - which is like heaven to me - but if the humidity is over 25%, I will melt!!  Hopefully, will straighten out my outside porch to get it ready for me taking off on my road trip June 1st.  I probably will be gone for the majority of June.  Decided to stop off at Mammoth Caves so I have to be there by June 4th (after a stop near Dallas to participate in a research project on June 2nd).  Luckily, I LOVE to drive.

 

Thoughts for those on the care list and smooth sailings to those on ships.

We were in Tangier in April while aboard the Zuiderdam.  We chose a half day tour that gave us the highlights of the area.  We first drove through some nice areas of the city on our way to an overlook area on the coast where the Atlantic Ocean was to our left and the Mediterranean Sea was to our right.  We then returned to the city for a walking tour.
