FYI - I did a 10 night non-stop TA (Lisbon to San Juan) on Azamara Journey (30k GT) and would do it again. Almost, entire crew and guest count of Empress would fit on 5 oasis class lifeboats. We recently did 17 nights on Ovation and Quantum, ships felt small and narrow. We have done three sailings on Navigator post covid, It is just a short drive away, and I would call it tiny. Liberty on the other hand have beautiful outside promenade where you actually can see the ocean.

I am a "folk" who sails basically on all sizes of RCI ships every year (Radiance class escapes me). From Vision class to Oasis class which I also like. This is why I am asking this question. Honest question. Edited June 1, 2023 by Tatka
Tatka Posted June 1, 2023 #32 Share Posted June 1, 2023 Liberty now has AMAZING shows. On the Air is Circus de Soleil type of show. Saturday Night Fever is a great Broadway show.

sbjnyc Posted June 1, 2023 #34 Share Posted June 1, 2023 I disembarked liberty this morning on my first cruise. I also wondered how crowded it would be (I don't mind crowds). The only places I found really crowded was the buffet during peak meal times, the schooner bar during trivia and the casino on sea days. The pools can get a little crowded too but I'm not much of a swimmer.

It was there pre covid out of texas and after covid for the 7 day cruises. I thought it was dated. The last time my toilet didnt flush hardly and we called maintenance at least 6 times during the b2b. Excessive imo to not get it fixed once and for all. Elevators always had issues. That green just looked dated.

They really didn’t have a lot of entertainment scheduled and I just missed all the action and options on the big ladies.

ShillyShally Posted June 1, 2023 #40 Share Posted June 1, 2023 Been on Liberty a few times, love this class of ships as I feel you still feel connected to the sea where I just don't on the Oasis class (won't stop me from sailing on that class either, just more picky about cabin). Now I haven't been on her in over 9 years so I can't speak on when/if she's been refreshed!

This allows for a separate Sorrento’s and café promenade in the Royal Promenade as well as a splash zone by the pools for kids. The freedom class looks wider on paper, but that’s only because it has the cantilevered hot tubs off the sides. The main body of the ship is just as wide. In my opinion, voyager and freedom are WAAAAAAY MORE similar than different.

Been on both many times and I’m struggling to see why you think that? We LOVE the crown loft suites on the Oasis class ships. Also do not recall if the liberty has a true suite sun deck and bar- Since we sail in suites, it makes a difference for us. Of course the ship is larger and carries more passengers which some people might not prefer. A personal choice.

I think you said it backwards in that comment. Otherwise I’m very confused. I think oasis class has way more bells and whistles. You said the opposite. I honestly cannot say how this assessment was made. No visible wear and tear. Mind you we sail on much newer ships to have something to compare. The video doesn't do it justice as it doesn't look all that dramatic but it felt like we were going to fly off the ship at the top of the ramp. Probably did it 20 times over the course of 7 days. 23182.mp4 Edited June 2, 2023 by HBE4

And when the Freedom-class was still under development, it was referred to as a stretched Voyager since - as you pointed out - the same basic design, just a bit longer.
