@Oceansaway17  Bon Voyage!  🍾🛳️

Good morning everyone.   We have another gloomy day here after three straight days with rain.  It is cool too but the shut up cabin is staying warm.

Thanks for the Daily reports!   I forgot my cameras so I am thankful for my phone camera.  With our weather this week we have our share of mud especially on our newly repaired road.  I think Keillor's quote is very true.    We have been to Ushuaia on the Volendam this year.  Rather jealous of the sun and ships at the pier.   We had to tender in with cold weather.

@summer slope thanks for today's cocktail, a rarely enjoyed treat.  Probably will pass on the meal, we are having pot roast tonight but would bet today's wine would go great with it.

@JazzyVthanks for keeping our cares and Celebrations reports.    Prayers for everyone needing them and the people of Ukraine.

We did a private tour since Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego was a bucket list visit for me.  Our guide Marta Velazquez was wonderful and a lifetime resident except to go to college.   We wanted to see the sights in the National Park so away we went.  Since we had to tender John was worried about time so we couldn't go visit her home.

Good morning, everyone!

Woke up to thunderbumpers this morning.   I'm hoping the rain can wash some of the smoke out, but the AQI keeps going up, not down.  We were down to 78 last night and now we're up to 159.  We were going to try for the zoo today, but it isn't looking good.  Maybe today is craft day.

Prayers for baby Murphy.   I hope she comes through surgery well.

Today's meal looks good to me!   While it shows it made with shrimp, you can substitute shredded chicken for the shrimp.  You can also swap out vegetables and use your favorite.  I'll look for something to replace the noodles.  I think I liked how fresh the meal looked.  This first recipe has some good ideas on how to customize the meal to your liking.  https://www.aheadofthyme.com/vietnamese-salad-rolls-with-peanut-dipping-sauce/Saladrollswithpeanutdippingsauce1.jpg.55770f6a22c624e2cb9d4e9bdd22d20a.jpg

In this next one the peanut sauce is a little different.  Also, vegetables used are different.  https://cookieandkate.com/fresh-spring-rolls-recipe/

I'll offer one last version of the salad rolls.  https://www.thelittlekitchen.net/vietnamese-spring-rolls/

I hope these give you some ideas!

Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Good morning. We have unhealthy air today that is expected to worsen tomorrow. It will get up to 85 or so. Summer here is always humid and it certainly is that outside.

I am on my way to the hospital to meet with the surgical oncology team. There were some complications that started yesterday and decisions need to be made regarding treatment. We are a mere five miles from the hospital but there is a traffic backup from there to here….the main problem with going into Manhattan.

I will check in later when I know more.

Thank you all for keeping us close. It really helps.

Terry

Prayers 🙏 for you all Terry.

Graham.

Good morning from a sunny central Texas where it is 79F.  Our high should be about 101F.  While we are still in the triple digits and still getting heat advisories, the highs are not as high as originally predicted.  Unfortunately, the heat is moving east toward those Dailyites in the southeast part of the US.  This morning after a quick walk, I have some errands to run, and I plan to stay inside and keep cool.

I'll celebrate camera day, and I still use my small camera when we cruise.  It has a wrist strap and is less likely to get dropped than my phone.  Hugs are always nice and welcome.  Mud Day not so much.

I like the Garrison Keillor quote.

The meal sounds interesting, and we enjoyed the food when we visited Vietnam.  I'll pass on the drink, and was interested in trying the wine until I saw the price.

We have been to Ushuaia twice.  In 1999 we were there on Noordam III in the predigital age.  We were there again in 2015 on Ruby Princess, and I'll post my pictures in a few minutes.

Another interesting day in history.

Good morning,

I need to ask for prayers today. My great niece who was born Monday night has a heart defect and going onto surgery today. She has Transposition of the great Vessels. This means the aorta and the Pulmonary artery are transposed and need to be switched back. Her name is Murphy which was my DS last name. She has a sweet angel in heaven looking out for her.

I love the quote  and I have been to Ushuaia. It will be another scorcher today so I am off early to the store.

Lorraine, sending positive thoughts for Murphy as she undergoes her surgery. for her family and for the medical team.  I hope she has a quick and easy recovery after  her successful surgery.

Good morning, all! The meal sounds good, and I may try that tonight. DD is visiting from Taiwan. She’s vegetarian, so my usual dinners have altered for the time being. Last night I made one of Debbie’s sweet and sour chicken recipes, using cauliflower bites instead of chicken. It was delicious!

DD is on a working holiday, and spends July in Kamloops with a group of students from Taiwan. She flew in early to have a visit before, she meets her group at Vancouver airport on Sunday.

Fingers crossed I can post this time without my post disappearing. I won’t risk adding a picture!

Happy Thursday, everyone, and cheers to our favorite BHB’s wherever they may be!

Enjoy your visit with your DD.

Good Morning, thanks for today’s daily fleet report.  Today’s meal suggestion sounds good if I use chicken instead of the shrimp.  Today I’m making pork and sauerkraut in the crockpot.  It’s the last work day of this week. Looking forward to not using the work laptop tomorrow.  I’m sure I’ll get hugs from Tucker and Zander, Tucker is busy making biscuits beside me.  I hope everyone has a good day today.

We have been to Ushuaia twice.  The first time was in 1999 on Noordam III.  The second time was in 2015 on Ruby Princess.  We walked around town in the morning and took the tour to the end of the road (the Pan American Highway.).  By the time it reached the end in South America, it was a well-maintained dirt road which is how it begins in Alaska.

These first pictures are from our morning walk.

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn.

I'm a camera fan (mainly Nikon), and have quite a few, including some vintage ones. I've learned to like hugs, after growing up in a non-touchy environment. Kids like mud to play in. Good quote; it takes actions and deeds to show Christian faith. I'll pass on the meal and drink (amaretto). Yes to the wine, if someone else is buying.

We couldn't dock at Ushuaia on my SA/Antarctica cruise on Zaandam, due to high winds. I was disappointed as I wanted to go to Tierra del Fuego.

Very strange weather here. Dense fog and an AQI of 254! So no going outside for me today to mow the lawn. It's supposed to improve tomorrow, so I'll try to fit it in around going to PT. Rain from Friday evening through Monday.

@StLouisCruisers Thanks for the Ushuaia photos.

@grapau27 Fun for Pauline and Sarah to go see Rod Stewart in concert.

@cruising sister Prayers for your great niece Murphy as she undergoes surgery today. Nice photo.

@ottahand7 Nice photos from Ushuaia.

@Horizon chaser 1957 I'm sure you're excited to have DD home for a bit.

@smitty34877 Sorry to hear of some complications for DH. Prayers for you all and any decisions you need to make regarding treatment.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Great photos.

Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating something.

Good Morning to All!

Thank you for the information.  Used to have a camera but no longer; I give hugs and love playing in the mud!!  Love the quote, the food, the drink???, but the wine might be okay.  Never been to the end of the world!  Been to the top of the world (Barrow, AK) though.

@cruising sister Thoughts for Murphy.  My grandson was born with transposition but also with a VSD, ASD, double outlet syndrome, PA stenosis, and aortic interruption.  Surgery at 2 days, then emergency surgery 12 hours later.  Several surgeries and hospitalizations later, he is now a healthy 18 yo (? I always forget what year he was born!!).  So there is hope.  Thoughts for her surgeon and team.  Chin up!!

Another hot one today and back to my workout regime (today at 0630).  My insurance problem was fixed (I was right and the SS employee was WRONG!!  Go figure).  My little red bomb had her checkup yesterday and all is well.  Getting back to a routine - albeit a different one since I am no longer working - is a work in progress.

Thoughts for all on the care list.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning Dailyites. Many thanks to all who contribute. God bless our food and beverage ladies and to @JazzyV for our lists.

I would love any of the recipes from Debbie today. I don't make them myself but anytime I'm near a vietnamese restaurant I'll stop in for a spring roll. And the peanut dip is delicious!

Hug day is every day here.

Camera day. I have only used my phone for pictures. I have a camera around here somewhere!

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  With our smart phones, we've not used a camera for a very long time.  Our DS still has his DSLR professional camera, but when they went to Japan, only took his phone and the quality of photos he took were amazing.  I'm a hugger, so today is a great day for me - I had to teach DH how to hug, as he didn't grow up that way.  There's nothing to compare with the feeling of warm mud squishing through your toes.  I really like today's quote.

It's a beautiful, clear and sunny day out there this morning, but the smell of smoke is still very prevalent; there are no air quality statements, so I guess it can't be too bad.  We're looking at a high of +30, which will mean a nice warm day to do some yard work.  That will take place after I have a pedicure this morning - I'm long overdue for one.

@cruising sister sending prayers for your sweet Murphy and her surgical team.

@smitty34877prayers for Lou and I hope the complications can be easily rectified.

@Oceansaway17 Bon Voyage!

I'd like to try the drink of the day, and would seriously love the wine, but would have to take out a short term loan to buy a bottle . . . why is it the reds are always the most expensive ones???  We had a phone call from the husband of our friend who passed away last year - he's been having the occasional glass of wine with a neighbour lady who was recently divorced (after 38 years and 9 children; abuse was involved).  He wanted to go out for dinner, but didn't want it to seem like a date, so asked if we'd join them for - wait for it - Vietnmese food tonight.  You don't have to ask me twice!  We'll be enjoying salad rolls with peanut dipping sauce and a few other dishes at the restaurant tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, cheers to all with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Good afternoon to all

Happy Thursday.  Thank you to Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie and Ann for your dedication to this thread.

I like the quote and it can apply to any religion.  Interesting collection of days.

Forget the mud.

I like the hugs.

Cameras—well, sometimes I use my phone but I like to use a camera.  I have a DSLR and now found out that Canon says it is obsolete and can’t get updates for it and it would be nice if it had Wi-Fi.  i have a Nikon A900.  It is small, takes great pictures and easy to carry around.  Has Wi-Fi and automatically downloads to my iPad.

The drink sounds interesting.  However I will pass on the food and wine (above my budget)

We have been to Ushuaia and it was a fun day.  Took a private tour with another couple.  Went to El Fin del Mundo.  And then as they say it.  The “Southest Golf Course in the World”. We made a few other stops.  Photos are not on my iPad so I cannot share.

Today we are in Karlskrona, Sweden.  It is a tender port.  Both of us were really tired and Jim was a bit under the weather last night.  We decided to stay on board especially since we will be here again before the end of the cruise.  Tomorrow is an early day.  Have a four-hour taxi tour in Copenhagen.  We are only in port from 7-2. Who ever thought of that schedule for an important port????

We are staying in Copenhagen at the end of the cruise so it will give us a good overview of the city.

@smitty34877 Praying for your DH and hope that the complication will resolve and recovery will continue without any more problems.

@cruising sister special prayers for Murphy.

@luvteaching i hold you and your family in my prayers during these difficult and sad times.  May your wonderful memories give you comfort.

Prayers for all others who need them.

Cheers to thos celebrating and cruising.

God Bless,

Terri

Good morning all. It should prove to be an interesting day. A company is coming to build a large carport next door, which sounds good but they plan to put it one inch inside the property line on top of the 7 1/2 foot drainage easement that houses our neighborhood's covert from road to river. My sons told me that as long as the one inch is there it isn't my problem. They don't even plan to be home while it is being built. I guess we are all different. I plan and research everything so it is beyond my understanding of how they can do this.

On a lighter note, I was informed yesterday that myself, son and two teenage grandkids will go to disney world this summer. I foresee a lot of planning in my future.  At least the Mobile airport in town is having cheap flights to Orlando. It is the first flights going out of the remodeled airport.  Should be fun but my old body will have a hard time keeping up with all the younger ones.
