Looks like Celebrity has change their smoking policy ,

In casinos on itineraries where smoking is allowed, there will be visible signage designating the areas for both smoking and non-smoking guests.

Cigar and pipe tobacco is limited to designated outdoor areas and cigar bars (if the ship has one). Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only permitted within the designated smoking areas.

"Test," my foot - they've already made their decision!

For the comfort and enjoyment of our guests, our Celebrity ships are non-smoking. Hookahs and other types of water pipes are prohibited from use under this non-smoking designation.

This is the first paragraph in the section.  Celebrity then follows up with complete contradictions.  If the ships are non smoking how can there be smoking in certain areas?

Equinox is currently in the Caribbean.  I almost think there is a higher number of people who are likely to vape onboard now.  The demographics for a Caribbean cruise are a bit different than other X cruises I think.  I wonder if they had conducted this "test" in say the Med on a 12-day voyage if they would have even more negative feedback?

Idk when we sailed the Med and traveled in Europe in general, I was surprised by the number of European tobacco users. Seems to me, if Celebrity was looking for a skewed data analysis (pro vaping) they might have started there first.

Do passengers on European itineraries have the same level of interest in the casinos that I’ve seen on some Caribbean cruises? Corporate doesn’t care about tobacco users who don’t gamble. I’ll admit that I haven’t paid much attention to ship casinos while in Europe, because I’m usually focused on getting up early to spend time in the next day’s port.

This verbiage has been there for a while and hasn't changed with the current test.

I find it interesting that the great majority of posts on CC and other social media forums are referencing Equinox. Where are the Eclipse cruisers in this?

I’ll be on the Eclipse after the test is over in December.  Well I think it will be over.

I’ve sent an email.

The only time I seen a quiet casino in Europe is on a Holy Land cruise when there is a lot church groups on the ship 😉

Cruising on other lines where supposedly smoking is only allowed in the casino WHILE ACTIVELY PLAYING, we know it’s not enforced. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen someone light up as they walked in or be sitting at a slot machine smoking and not playing. I’m afraid it will just turn into an indoor place to vape. After cruising mostly other lines I was so looking forward to Celebrity’s nonsmoking casino.

Is it the President's cruise on the Eclipse this week or has that passed?

Maybe I am just putting two and two together and getting 5.

I wonder if she is planning on going on the Equinox in the next few weeks without any fanfare?

If you are referring to the one that went to Alaska, it just occurred at the same time as the mass cancellation of Beyond's TA Mediterranean sailings / CocoCay 2024 announcement.  Maybe the new President is a vapper, or fan of secondhand vape?

Europeans gamble. X's wording also says vaping will not be allowed when ships cruise from ports where vaping/smoking is banned that could well apply to all European ports and I imagine Australia/New Zealand.

... and should also include Alaska if they sail from Vancouver (BC Canada).

Nothing to do with vaping, but talking about the President's Cruise... Capt Kate was on that before heading back to work on the Beyond. Interesting tidbit no one pointed out... She is the primary Captain on the Beyond. Her husband is working as a Chief Engineer on the Reflection.  Guess which ships are together in the Caribbean next summer.

Things that make you go hmmm...

Understood. I know Europeans gamble. My post was poorly worded. In my response to @Georgia_Peaches post, I was trying to say that I hadn’t noticed the casinos on my Celebrity European cruises being as packed as some of my Caribbean cruises. That said, I have spent more time in casinos on Caribbean cruises. Thanks for the information about vaping/smoking and European ports. I knew about Australia and New Zealand.

Quite a few threads on this whole topic and rightly so.  Even though a number of us CC members emailed Celebrity Executive Office, we tend to overstate our importance I think.  The actual number of complaints from here is pretty small in the big picture.  But any cruisers on the ships involved are very important to state their objections while on board and in the post-cruise surveys.  That will have a larger impact IMO.  If you are on board these ships in this trial period, please talk to others on your ship about sending Celebrity feedback while on board.  Thank You!

@TeeRick while I agree with much of what you say, I refuse to believe that those of us who email the executive office have little or no impact. We are part of a larger group posting on other social media platforms, and they send emails too. Celebrity must know that they’re getting a trivial and skewed sample response during their onboard “trial period”. Onboard or on land, we should all give Celebrity our opinions while we have a chance.

I believe both methods are of equal value. Encouraging passengers whilst on board should be done carefully as X's rules forbid "soliciting'.

Most cruises we have been on have a talk in the theatre with either the Captain or other senior officers which includes a Q and A. These provide the ideal opportunity to raise the issue.

All Elite and above members who attend the Coffee House breakfast have the opportunity to put their points directly to the Captain's Club Host and they in turn report directly to Head Office.

The most important thing is to keep up the pressure.

This is not “soliciting”.  It is a discussion amongst passengers who might or might not be bothered by the vaping.  So it is feedback to officers on the ship as you also suggest.

I didn’t say no impact.  We are just a small portion of the feedback.  It is estimated that CC members are 5% or so of the cruising population.  And then only a small portion of that will send the vaping emails. And many of those unlike @Georgia_Peaches will not be onboard one of the impacted ships.  So less relevant to the immediate issue for Celebrity’s “test”.  So better for passengers on these ships and sailings to provide direct feedback IMO.

I sent my email on July 3 and have yet to get a response.  I am not a big spender per se, but I am Zenith if that matters.  Thought by now I would at least get the canned response.

As Zenith, your opinion matters a lot - at least, I would hope so!!  Have you been in touch with any other Zeniths about forming a united front? Theoretically, as the most loyal of passengers, your united voice should be impactful.

Though I don’t disagree CC members are a small proportion of the cruising population, a few more on other social media, but I’d guess the vast majority of cruisers have no idea this experiment is under way.  Maybe one of Celebrity’s semi daily or more emails could advise guests of this “great new feature” that we only have eight weeks to enjoy.  Before it’s gone for good.  Or extended.
