Good morning.  Thanks for the Report.

Happy Monday!

It's a holiday Monday for many of us here in Canada.  We've got showers in the forecast for today.  There are lots of mosquitoes.

An interesting collection of days.  I've never built a scarecrow.  I'll try complimenting my mirror, but not first thing in the morning.  Civil disobedience is sometimes useful.

I like the quote.

The meal sounds good.

I think I'll pass on the drink, it sounds too sweet for me.  Hope the wine isn't too expensive.

I have been to beautiful Norway, but not to today's port.  Thanks for pictures and comments.

Prayers for our world.

Have a wonderful day.

Thank you for today's daily reports.

It is currently 58°F and sunny here at 11.52am.

Lots of farmers build scarecrows to scare birds from their crops.

Civil disobedience should never be condoned.

I will give today's food a miss.

Prayers 🙏 offered to all who they will help.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning friends!  We had thunderstorms last evening and they continued for several hours.  It was still lightning and thundering when I went to bed at 10 pm.  Today it's 70 and partly cloudy, with a high today expected of 88 and a 50% chance of rain.

Thanks to Rich @richwmn for arranging to post the Daily and Fleet Report every day for us. I have no plans to build a scarecrow this morning, and find it hard to compliment my mirror but I will try if you insist.  I don't approve of disobedience because I am a rule follower.  I've seen way too much disobedience going on while watching my TV these past few years!  I've given up commenting on quotes.  Shrimp Cakes sound different and it will be interesting to see what Debbie @dfish says about them.  Oh no on the sugary martini!  If I liked red wine I'm sure I'd enjoy the pinot noir.  Thanks to Debbie, Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for their help with descriptions.

I had a prayer-athon on the treadmill this morning.  So many in need of prayers these days!  I hope they help and everyone sees better health and improvement in their situations.  I hope Terry's Lou @smitty34877 is doing quite well and ready to come home.  Also I want to send hugs and prayers to Joy @Seasick Sailor after her tumble trying to get the wheelchair up the porch with Allen in it.  Your poor toe!  I'm so glad he seemed to suffer no injuries though.  I'm hoping all the spouses are doing well.  🙏  As for the people on the Celebration list, have a wonderful time whether it be cruising or otherwise.  🥂  Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for your work keeping the lists updated.  Not an easy chore!

Today's port is the wonderful Stavanger, Norway!  This is our third time having it here, the first being Aug. 12, 2021 and the second Dec. 6, 2022.  Here are the links to those dates and I hope you will join me in posting photos.  Many, many photos!

We have been to Stavanger three times, twice on Prinsendam and once on Crown Princess.  It's a beautiful place with much to see.  Our second time there in 2016 was on The Best Norway Cruise Ever!  Captain D. D. was at the helm.  The weather was beautiful and we were able to take a cruise of Lysefjord with Rodne Fjord Cruise.  You can do that with your cruise line or purchase your tickets online for a lot less.

First I would like to show you what the lovely homes in Old Stavanger look like.  They are adjacent to the harbor where the ships dock.  I took photos of all the beautiful doorways with the flowers at their peak, and used those photos to make a wall calendar the following year, with my Shutterfly account.  Everyone I gave one to loved it.

There was quite a lot of scenery included on this tour and I would recommend it.  I can't show it all.  Hope you enjoyed the Lysefjord tour!

That was a lot of photos but I hope you enjoyed this view of Stavanger.  Have a great Monday and continuation of our holiday weekend.

Good morning. Disobedience is rampant and totally out of control these days. Society needs to put up scarecrows all over to control the disobedient. OK I got that off my chest.
Yesterday was a mixed bag of minor chores. Broken sprinkler head, some weed vines removed and I was elated to see my Myers Lemon tree that appeared dead has new shoots coming up from roots. This year’s deep freeze really took a toll on plants but they all appear to be coming back.

Again, not much on the agenda but a trip to Ace Hardware is needed for a new battery for thermostat. I had no idea thermostat has a small flat battery in them so when there is a power blip or outage they don’t have to be reset.

@kazu I do pray this morning brings better news and that Ivan has shown improvement and your rested.

A couple of more very hot days and then it should cool down some with high percentage of rain in forecast for rest of week.

Enjoy your holidays, stay safe and enjoy your Independence. Bruce

Good Monday morning everyone. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet report.

Last night I spent most of the evening in the basement due to heavy storms and several tornado warnings. Up here in Pennsylvania, over the years it seems we are getting an increasing number of tornadoes. They seem to be quite frequent now.

Today is a semi day off for me. Planning on doing a few chores and then relax. We will see how the day plays out.

Shrimp cakes sound delicious, and I would try the martini. I will try and compliment my mirror; however, we do not get along. I would build a scarecrow, but my main concern is that we have a huge population of vultures that we have yet to figure out how to get rid of. They are everywhere!

Thinking of all on the care list.

Celebrating with all who are celebrating.

Waiting for the 2025 Alaska itineraries to come out so I can book another cruise.

Have a safe and healthy day.

Great photos and renewed memories as we were there last summer. Thanks.

Good morning everyone.  An interesting group of days and thanks again to @grapau27 for enlightening us to what Compliment your Mirror is all about.  Pass on sugary cocktail but shrimp cakes sound great and we always love Pinot if we can get it.   Really looking forward to more photos of Stavenger.  @StLouisCruisers your photos were calendar quality, I am sure whoever received them were thrilled.

Thanks for the Cares reports @JazzyV.  So many illnesses and problems for people in our group.  Prayers for them and the people of Ukraine.

John and I will go fishing today.  He caught a keeper walleye yesterday so that is in the refrigerator waiting for more.  It will be in the high 80s so sitting in the boat over 70 degree water will be better than gardening.   Have a wonderful day!  Nancy

Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann.  Interesting that Dow Jones published it's first index and then presumably took July 4 off.  Non-violent civil disobedience is sometimes needed for progress, going back at least when Jesus overturned the tables of the money changers..  I'll pass on the other 2 days,  The Gandhi quote will be popular here although people will complain when ships slow down to conserve fuel.  I have not been to Stravenger and will pass on the meal.  My alternative is Sunset Salad, Chicken Breast with Israeli Couscous, and NSA Strawberry Ice Cream which could have been my choices on July 3, 2002 on MS Zaandam.

It will be hot here today.  Other than a 4PM church finance meeting,  not sure what I will do.

Good morning all,

I loved Norway and was in todays port in May. I took a HOHO and walked around. I was up early to check where the sprinklers are hitting the grass in the back (I have a dry patch). I got soaking wet trying to figure out how to adjust them. Molly was watching me from the deck stairs. I think she was laughing at me (if dogs can laugh). I was unsuccessful and will need to ask a neighbor.

Denise, I know how you feel about the storms. When I first moved to Kansas we had a lot of tornado warnings. As the years have gone by we get less and less. I think with the weather changes they have moved east.

Prayers to all in need and have a great day.

Thank you to all who post on the F & D.  Looking forward to many pictures of Stavanger, Norway; we will be there next August.

Yesterday, I wrote a post about the shooting in Baltimore but I deleted it.  When I saw that today was disobedience day, I thought of making “good trouble”. Sometimes civil disobedience is necessary to bring about the changes we need for our society.  I will use the words of John Lewis,

Two Paddocks Pinot Noir Central Otago The Fusilier 2020

This specific vintage of this specific Pinot Noir is not available to me - yet. I can opt for the equally praised 2019 vintage from several online distributors with prices starting at $69.93. But I have to wait for the 2020. You might have better luck if you live in New Zealand or at least don’t live in the USA.

ABOUT THE WINE

The flagship from Two Paddocks – an organically grown barrel selection from the estate properties. In 2019 this wine was produced from the four Neill family Central Otago vineyards. These small sites are high-density planted in a range of clonal material cropped to under 5 Tonne per hectare with most vineyard practices carried out by hand. As in the vineyard, the wine is hand crafted using traditional methods including a 46% whole bunch, indigenous fermentation and hand plunging. Maturation is in French barriques for 10 months, using a mix of older and new (18%) barrels.

TASTING NOTES

Vintage Comment:

A dry cold 2019 winter continued into a dry spring that was dominated some severe wind and snow events. The critical flowering month of December was still relatively cool and experienced 50mm of rain over three days. As a result, flowering was both late and drawn out. Finally, the summer heat arrived in mid-January and lasted until mid-March but the critical cell division stage for the berries was also cool and along with the challenging conditions at flowering, resulted in crop levels being 30- 40% down in many of the vineyard blocks. There were two pieces of very good news though – the smaller bunches and small berries were much easier for the vine to fully ripen in late summer and ultimately resulted in densely coloured, aromatic wines. 2020 harvest was one of the most compact that Two Paddocks has seen starting, on the 6th of April and all done by the 24th April.

Winemakers Notes:

Hand harvested, 54% de-stemmed and given a 7 day pre-fermentation cold maceration to extract colour and aroma. After an indigenous fermentation, with a single plunging per day, the wine was given another 5 days post fermentation time on skins. Wine is then transferred to 1-4 (18% new oak) year old French medium toast barriques for a 10-month maturation, before racking and bottling. Estate Vineyard composition: 31% The Fusilier - Bannockburn, 20% - The Last Chance – Earnscleugh (Alexandra), 15% The Red Bank – Earnscleugh (Alexandra) and 34% The First Paddock – Gibbston.

“Redcurrant with wild herbs and blackberry follow into a lovely gorgeous mineral flow giving exuberance, freshness and poise, showing complexity and evolving tannins which will age well.”

Ageability: Drink now and up to 7 years. This wine will drink well in its youth and has the potential to age.

Good morning. It is hazy, hot and humid.I did not post yesterday but was sorry to read about  Joy's accident with Allen in the wheelchair.I hope you are both alright. Also very sorry to read about Ivan and hope he is better today.Blue bubbles elude me.

We have  been to Staveger and enjoyed the boat tour.

I certainly engaged in acts of civil disobedience  in my youth and would not change a thing.

Yesterday was harrowing  for most of the family. My DS arrived to support us and was extremely  helpful.DH had a series of setbacks and  we left the hospital at midnight. We shall see what today brings.

None of the special days makes a lot of sense to me. Friends of mine had a dog that I think had excelled in Disobedience School.

Definite no on the shrimp cakes, but Roy's alternative would be OK. No on the pseudotini. For the wine, not available here, I could substitute Heart & Hands 2020 Mo Chuisle Estate Reserve Pinot Noir, sustainably farmed on the east shore of Cayuga Lake, if it were in my budget, but it's $65.99. I haven't been to Stavanger.

thanks for our Monday Daily, Rich.

While I agree with Tina @0106 that some disobedience can be good, overall there is far too much in our world.  I wonder if I’ll fell better if I compliment my mirror?  LOL.

I like the Grandi quote and agree with it.  Should have been in Stavenger in May but alas, it was not meant to be 😔

It’s pouring here - again.  My neighbour says the apocalypse is upon us 😉 I’ve lost count on how many days it has been raining now.  I know it’s over a week and seems endless.  😔

I think it’s going to be a very long day today.  Ivan is so dopey and sleepy he has no interest in eating or drinking.  Bless DD DH for his medical supplies.  (I gifted his equipment to the upcoming nurse practitioner he was mentoring but there were supplies she advised me to keep and I did, thankfully).  There are two big syringes in the collection of stuff and I might use them to try to get some stuff down Ivan’s throat.  The vet said that  this med would have a sedative effect but this is nuts.  Once it’s safe, I’ll switch him to the other one, I think.  My friend who went with me was very worried and told me I’d been through enough already without this.

Sorry to read of the wheelchair accident @Seasick Sailorand my prayers remain with @luvteaching @57redbird in these sad times and for all of our Daily-ites on the Care list who are facing difficult times 🙏🏻

Cheers to all celebrating!

Good morning, everyone!

My sinuses are a little better today.  It cooled down nicely last night, so we opened windows.  That probably didn't help, but the house smells so much better when there is fresh air moving around.

Thank you to @rafinmd Roy and @0106 Tina for mentioning non violent civil disobedience.  That brings to mind actions like the lunch counter sit ins and Rosa Parks on the bus.  Civil disobedience also played a role in securing women's right to vote.  I hope I would have had the courage to do as Rosa Parks did.

Today's meal is a nice alternative to crab cakes.  Shrimp isn't quite as expensive as crab, so a little easier on the wallet.  Check out this first recipe.  https://cafedelites.com/shrimp-cakes/

I like the addition of the lemon aioli in this recipe.  https://natashaskitchen.com/shrimp-cakes-recipe-video/

These shrimp cakes are delicious as they are, but the recipe lends itself well to tweaks based on your own preferences. Feel like adding more veggies? These have been made these with corn and even chopped kale before and they taste wonderful. You can also add herbs or even jalapenos to switch up the flavors. They always come out tender and delicious every time!
