Can I tell kids to leave the solarium during the times when they are NOT allowed?  Should I report them to a crew member? As a 65yo, this is my fortress of solitude, and I go in there for the peace and quiet

Report to the crew member or security.  I have done it in the past, yes that is why it says Adults only.

We had kids in the Solarium on our recent cruise.  They appeared to be 13-15 y/o.  I think 16 y/o and up are allowed.  I mentioned it to a pool attendant as we were leaving and we didn't see it happen again but I don't know if anything was said to them.  On Equinox, family hours were from 4-7 pm.

What times during the day are kids permitted?

It depends of the ship, the weather, the climate you're sailing in and the Captain's discretion. It will be posted in your Celebrity Today and sometimes with signage.

I am just off the Millie and during normal hours it was fine but come 4pm.....it was like the scene from Caddyshack when the caddies invade the pool! WOW is all I can say.

At least people recognized and only came for their designated hours as far as I understand you.

Personally, although I no longer travel with children, I think the Solarium family time is a great idea and at a time most adults will not be using the space anyway…

Most adults by 4pm are finishing a siesta, returning from an excursion or beginning to shower and dress if they dine early and want to enjoy a cocktail first.

For families (especially on sea days) they can follow the ‘adults only’ rule for the Solarium but know they can take their kids for a swim later. So necessary for children to get some exercise on wet sea days!

When you cruise on Celebrity you need to take on board it is not an adults only line. You need to expect there to be children on board and that sometimes there will be decisions made to promote their cruise enjoyment too.

In no way am I condoning children being unsupervised and entering the Solarium at none family time or staff turning a blind eye to it but most of the time on most cruises it simply isn’t an issue…Quite simply Celebrity is making a facility useful for some of its customers (children) at a time when it is less used by others (adults).

We are E+ so have done numerous cruises in all areas of the world and children in the Solarium has not been an issue. Most parents encourage their children to follow the rules and the fact there is family time later in the day accept the rules.

Most staff are alert to children entering and will remind them of the rules also informing them when they can come in.

If you are on a cruise with children/families who do not follow the rules then a quiet word with a member of staff will make a difference.

If you choose a cruise outside school holiday times the number of children on board drops further and it really becomes a none issue.

Enjoy your fortress of solitude! On our last cruise the only interruption to our peace was by a man you took a lengthy (and what sounded like a business) phone call. He was politely challenged by staff who encouraged him over to the side of the area…

If a cruise is sailing to a  colder climate where kids could not use the outdoor pool, its entirely appropriate to allow them to use the solarium during designated hours. Not allowing kids to swim when there's a pool is a bit cruel, IMO.

Celebrity is not an adults only line so there's an expectation that there will be children aboard. Its unrealistic to think that children should always be in the kids club. If people enjoy cruising celebrity, they do so with the knowledge that children will be on board. Does that children should be undisciplined? No. Is it appropriate to take them everywhere? No.

But if you want to cruise with the fewest amount of children on board, avoid school breaks and holidays. And take a longer cruise. The demo of 8+ day cruises is older and fewer kids aboard.  We did a February cruise and hit the sweet spot after the holidays but before Feb break. There were only a handful of kids on board.

Is the Retreat adults only?

Going back to the OP's original question, I'm glad there appears to be 100% agreement it would be inappropriate to approach someone else's children.  It would not take much for that to go sideways and it would not be the children being escorted away.  Contact the crew instead.
