Lady Hudson Posted July 18, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2023 Someone posted a bit ago that there is a way to input name on luggage tags before printing. Think I can remember where I saw that? No. Anyone here who can help me out — either pointing me to the right post or give directions for printing name? Thank you.

Rare island lady Posted July 18, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2023 I simply print out one tag from my cruise documents. Then hand print my last name, then scan and make copies for all of my bags, two on each checked bag of course.
chazzinator8 Posted July 18, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2023 You can do it with MS Word. Simply open the downloaded luggage tag PDF in Word, edit and add your name via edit mode, then save again as PDF and print. That's the method I use each time. You can do the same if you have a PDF editor program, most folks will have access to MS Word.
Tromler Posted July 18, 2023 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2023 there are free PDF editors available for download...or if you have Adobe Acrobat you can edit and type your name.

Rare jean87510 Posted July 18, 2023 #8 Share Posted July 18, 2023 This is new to me. I have never written my name on my luggage tag. Was under the impression the room # was sufficient.
Ashland Posted July 18, 2023 #9 Share Posted July 18, 2023 We get our tags from the porter and write our cabin number on them...good to go and have never had a problem.
smokeybandit Posted July 18, 2023 #10 Share Posted July 18, 2023 There's no reason to put your name on the tags.
Rare ReRe71 Posted July 18, 2023 #11 Share Posted July 18, 2023 I save the document on the computer as a PDF and use typewriter to input our names.
inkling808 Posted July 18, 2023 #12 Share Posted July 18, 2023 Using my Mac book pro, I download the pdf to me computer. Using preview in edit mode, I use a text box. Prints out very nice.

Was under the impression the room # was sufficient. I think the room # is sufficient -- the crew doesn't care about /doesn't need your name. They just want to get your luggage to the right hallway, and the colors /codes on the tag give them that information. However, I like to add my name with Sharpie. If it were to go astray (which has never happened to me), I figure it could only be helpful.
Rare BirdTravels Posted July 18, 2023 #14 Share Posted July 18, 2023 I snap a screen capture of the PDF. And overlay name and phone number on the bags. I want a name and phone number on bags, when (not if) there is a problem. We use Amazon luggage tag holders and put a tag on the top and a second tag on the side handle of each of our bags.
crzndeb Posted July 18, 2023 #15 Share Posted July 18, 2023 I just like to practice writing with a pen, whether it’s needed or not. After pretty much typing everything nowadays, I’ve noticed my handwriting has gotten a little rusty. 😉 1
Rare moposh Posted July 18, 2023 #16 Share Posted July 18, 2023 I have Adobe Acrobat Pro so I can put my name on the tags before I print.
Weluv2cruise2gether Posted July 18, 2023 #17 Share Posted July 18, 2023 I just write it on too, but another idea if you don’t want to write it or take the time to figure out how to input the info before printing, slap one of your return address labels on that if like me you get a million of for free in the mail!😂

Merion_Mom Posted July 18, 2023 #22 Share Posted July 18, 2023 This reminds me of the old old old joke. "When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface, and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300 degrees Celsius. The Russians used a pencil." KISS - I write it in myself.

shaycamp21 Posted July 18, 2023 #25 Share Posted July 18, 2023 We live in Canada and lately my Amazon orders have been unreliable-- things I have purchased with one day shipping on Prime Day still have yet to arrive. I have a laminator and film so figured if it's allowed I'd just laminate them.
