Is it true regarding Elite and Laundry tokens?

Recently I heard but wonder if there is anyone that can confirm the following?

That Elite passengers or anyone having the benefit of free laundry service can if thy choose go to customer services and get tokens to use in laundromat to do their own clothes.  If so can passengers use both options?  Items not willing to have shrunk do their own.  And send other items out at no charge.  Sounds good maybe too good to be true.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Yes, you can get tokens for both detergent and the washers and dryers at passenger services.

I, too, wondered if this rumor was true.  On our recent B2B on Island Princess, I went to Passenger Services during our first cruise and got tokens with no problem.  On the second cruise I returned to Passenger Services and requested the tokens.  I mentioned that they were free but was told, “We don’t do that.”  I pressed that it was done on our first cruise and the lady relented and gave me tokens but couldn’t resist reminding me it was against policy.

As usual, counting on consistency with Princess is not possible.

First before asking for tokens try using the machines without them.  Push the slider in and press start, most ships right now laundry is free for everyone.

I believe there is a charge though for laundry soap and dryer sheets but we take our own.

Will be curious to see what the Grand Princess has when we board next month.  Have never had free tokens since becoming Elite many moons ago so maybe the upcoming cruises on the Grand will be a first.

Same here. Board September 26. With a total of 63 days aboard Grand Princess we will definitely be doing some laundry. We may send some out for the Elite laundry benefit but have been less than impressed when trying that in the past. Also not real interested in having holes in our clothing or having it washed at 1,000° K.

I was on the Regal in July.  I asked and was told no free tokens. Only free if you send it in. I commented about this on the after cruise survey. It seems this would be easier and cheaper for the cruise line.

We were on the Regal in March and Sky in June/July.  Had no free tokens and the machines didn't work without a token.

Having free tokens for elite members would be cheaper for Princess over having them do the laundry but if they did that, what's to stop people from giving them to friends that are not elite.  Always somebody looking to take advantage of a program.

  • 1 month later...

Today my wife went to Passenger Services here on Grand Princess and inquired about free laundry tokens. They said nope, nope, nope. No such thing as free laundry tokens. We currently have a load in the washer but it definitely wasn't "free".

Gotta love the consistent inconsistency of Princess 😠

Why, oh why can’t passengers expect the same experience fleetwide?

We had to push to get the free tokens on the same ship on a single cruise!!

To us it's simply not worth the effort. Free is "nice" but not necessary. On Royal Princess last year I went from deck to deck in search of a working token machine. I finally gave up and went to Customer Services. They not only wouldn't give me free tokens but didn't seem to care that the machines were broken. They finally said they would have someone "take a look" at the token machines. An hour later I checked and nobody had fixed them but I did find another passenger who was using the laundry and she told me of a laundry location where she had finally found a working token machine so I was able to procure tokens to do our laundry. We haven't had the best luck with the free Elite laundry so we tend to do our own rather than sending it out.

I am on the Crown now. Tokens are needed for soap but all washers and dryers work by just pushing the slide in. We bring our own washer sheets so all free. There are now signs so just give it a try you never know

I see tokens required for washing. What about the dryer? Separate token for that??

Yes, a token is required for both.

We have only been provided with tokens at GS when token machines were not functional, which happens frequently.  A couple of times GS charged us for the tokens and a couple of times they did not. 🤷‍♂️

Because I read this thread before I left for my cruise on the Enchanted (Sept 2) I asked at GS for laundry tokens.  They gave them to me.  Asked again a few days later and got more.  Maybe we were lucky?

Maybe they should put a token machine in the casino.  Sometimes lucky; sometimes not.
