Good morning.  Happy Friday!  Thanks for the Report.

Another nice day in the forecast for us, should be a sunny 24°C (75°F) this afternoon.  Still lots of things to do in the garden.

A big thank you to everyone in the Maritime industry.  I've never been to Broadway.  Confucius was supposed to be very wise.

I like the quote.

I'll pass on the meal, not sure about the drink or wine.

Alaska is a great place to visit, I'm sure there will be lots of pictures.

Prayers for everyone on the Care List.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a wonderful day.  Stay safe.

Thank you for the Fleet reports Rich.

It is currently sunny and 62°F.

3 interesting days today.

Excellent quote.

Cod meal sounds intriguing.

Prayers 🙏 for all they will help.

It is lovely to see how many Dailyites are due to or cruising which is what we all love to do.

I hope everyone is safe and well.

Let's all have a wonderful day.

Thanks for our TGIF Daily, Rich.

And thanks to Ann, Debbie, Dixie & Vanessa.

Great collection of days!  I like the quote by Lincoln - there’s a lot of truth in it.

Looks like another nice day here.  Still tons to do in the garden and I am trying to avoid panic mode.  Definitely time for a priority list (and maybe a packing list? LOL).

My BFF and I are getting together later today so I will be sure to have a box of Kleenex out and maybe some wine too. Joining the widow’s club is a tough go.  Her grand daughter sent me the sweetest, most eloquent email last night to thank me for their dinner and support.

@Quartzsite Cruiser I hope you and Steve were able to get some rest last night & his pain has subsided 🙏

@rafinmd Bon Voyage Roy!  have a great cruise and a WONDERFUL time!

IMG_1205.thumb.jpeg.b4d4c5cb41fd9fd9565d41aed339859c.jpeg

Prayers for those on the Care list, those suffering losses, health problems, worries & those that need them.  🙏 Cheers to those celebrating & cruising 🥂

Good morning friends!  Wow, the temp this morning is only 55 degrees!  It really is fall!  High will be 81 with sunshine!  Thank you Rich @richwmn for the Daily and Fleet Report.  Interesting days to celebrate especially for cruisers, World Maritime Day.  I know many of us are honoring that day with cruises!  A salute to Broadway and to Confucius.  I really like the Abraham Lincoln quote - very nice.  I'll pass on the cod dish and the sour apple highball.  I would give my glass of cabernet sauvignon to DH, one of his favorites.  Very interesting about the start of the London police force back in 1829.  Wow on the Willie Mays stat!  Thank you Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard for the great reports every day.  I hear it's also Coffee Day so have an extra cup to celebrate.

Prayers for our Daily Care list, especially Steve and Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser who we hope will be going home today after his procedure yesterday.  Also we really hope you both got a decent night sleep.  Prayers also said for Baby Murphy and family, @Lady Hudson's DH, @Tbay's DH, my DB, my friend's DB Mark, and also we hope Carol's @mamaofami's DH Sam is doing okay.  Three cheers to the Celebration list people!🎉  Smooth sailing to our cruisers!  Bon Voyage Roy @rafinmd!  Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for the great lists.

Our port this morning is Anchorage, Alaska including Denali National Park.  We've had Anchorage before on Sept. 22, 2022.  We've also had Denali National Park as a stand alone port on Nov. 24, 2021 and February 7, 2022.  Not only those dates, but we've had Seward (Anchorage) once before on Nov. 1, 2021.  I can provide all the links if you can figure out where you put your photos!  LOL

And finally Seward, Alaska

I'll post photos from Anchorage for myself, and from Lenda.

Anchorage, Alaska is a large city, Alaska-wise.  The city and metro area have a population of about 288,000.  Our first time there was when we flew in to board our first cruise ship (Star Princess) in Seward in 2002.  We did a southbound 7 day cruise ending in Vancouver and enjoyed it immensely.  To get to Seward we boarded the train and enjoyed all the beautiful scenery along the way.  Our DS and DDIL accompanied us on that cruise.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJTi4ikQnbYzdv2hmg7CLzQ?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1346950826

Then in 2010 we cruised on Diamond Princess from Bangkok to Anchorage.  We docked in Whittier and took a bus to Anchorage where our flight home left in the late evening.  The bus dropped everyone off at the Convention Center downtown.  We spent the day walking around Anchorage, then took another bus to the airport for our flight to St. Louis.  Here is a picture taken upon arrival in Whittier.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKJY_LCb4xovP0hX--QNyzY?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1616011386

In 2019 we boarded ms Amsterdam for our 14 day Alaska cruise roundtrip Seattle.  In Anchorage we took a shuttle bus to the downtown area from our docking spot.  I'm sure this mural took a long time to paint.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVK87LLLcSR1eiAb0nEz_u7T?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1568232103

A very early good morning from Dallas.  I think the sign is just for d how about not disturbing us during the night.  They were in several times so got very little sleep.  When they found DH awake about 4 am they arranged the ordered CF scan.  I went with him and we got to see the back of the house so to speak.

Three good days to celebrate.

I like the quote.

We'll pass on the meal, drink. But the wine would be nice of not too pricey.

We've been to Anchorage many times by land and sea.

Good days in history.

@Cruzin Terri  Sorry about needing the bedroom floor replaced.  Your living room is lovely.

We're waiting to see the surgeon.  The resident was in and it looks like we will be going home today.

DH' s pain is better.

Lenda's photos:

This is my post with pictures of Anchorage from November 1, 2021.

I found some pictures of downtown Anchorage. As we usually rent a car, we don't often spend time in Anchorage.  In 2018 on the Zaandam, we did not have a car rental reservation, so we walked around the area where the shuttle drops us off.  We then checked with the company and were able to rent a car.

The Alaska Mint is actually an unique store that is worth wandering through for a few minutes.

There are flowers all over Anchorage and Alaska.  This is for the garden club.

In 2015 on the Statendam and 2012 on the Amsterdam, we went to the State Fair in Palmer.  This is the "big" or main state fair, but since Alaska is so big, we have seen signs for the state fair in southeast Alaska, on the Kenai Peninsula and Kodiak.  The fair in Palmer is held in August and ends Labor Day weekend.

The fair is not big like the state fairs in Texas, Minnesota or even Arizona, but it is more a traditional state fair from years ago.

The stories about the giant vegetables are true.  The Matsu Valley has warm summer days with a lot of daylight for growing big produce.

I'm not sure why, but I thought this group would like this picture.

I think even though the growing season is short, the long days of sunshine are the reason for the giant vegetables and the bigger flowers seen all around Alaska.

Lenda's comment from Nov. 24, 2021 about Denali:

We have been to Denali many times, mostly on motorhome trips.  In 1996, we spent three days camped almost as far as the public can drive into the park.  We could step outside the motorhome and see Denali.  A ranger told us we were very lucky as they'd only had five days all summer that were clear enough to see the mountain.  Unfortunately, that was in pre-digital times.

Just now, summer slope said:

Beautiful moon this morninng.

IMG_4324.jpeg

I noticed the bright moon last night too.  We have sun tunnels in the interior of our house to bring in light, and when the moon is full or bright like that the sun tunnels reflect the bright moonlight into the house during the night.

Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! It is another cloudy start to the day, but both Bindi & I are hoping for a lot less rain today. We only got one decent walk in without rain yesterday. One attempt was in a mist that turned into a torrential downpour half way down my driveway. With the strong winds, my kayak shorts were soaked in seconds. Bindi just turned us right around.

Vanessa thank you for all the work you put in to keeping up with us. I hope you see an end, or at least a lessening to your pain soon.

Gym, Bindi walks, chores, prep for tomorrow’s dinner I am having my friends over, & weather permitting some yard work. I also need to get the pollen off my car. It shows up more on the dark color of the car. But pickings were slim - this year.

I had to laugh at this one - I never bother with celery unless a recipe calls for it.

Prayers for all who need our support. @smitty34877 Terry, praying that you, Tana & your families find an easing of your pain. @Quartzsite Cruiser Lenda, praying you & Steve have a great recovery. Sometimes it is worse for the caregiver.

Hoping that each of us finds a reason to smile today!

Thanks for the Fleet Update and General Info from all contributors.

Confucius Says, Man who wants pretty nurse must be patient.

Port of Call, Anchorage, Alaska. My cruise story in Anchorage. In June 2019 our ship docked at Anchorage. We had a private tour leaving from downtown. To get to town HAL offered a free shuttle bus, about a 15 minute ride one way. On the way to town besides the bus driver was a tour guide on the bus. They began to talk and this is what they  said, “Connie (bus driver) do you know that it is going to be hot today.” Betty (tour guide) replied “No”. Then Connie said, “After I complete my shuttle work I am going to Walmart and buy shorts for today since it is going to be hot”. Betty replied, “How hot is it suppose to be today”. Connie replied, 72 degrees ! 😳

Happy rainy (for me)Friday.  Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie.  Confucius had a lot of wisdom, I am close to Broadway but did not indulge, and I will certainly celebrate World Maritime Day today.  I'll salute the Bobbies and Willie Mays was fabulous

Great quote today by Honest Abe.  Been to Anchorage and Denali several times.

I believe the Orioles clinched the pennant yesterday.

.

I'll pass on the Cod.  My alternative is Chilled Raspberry Soup, Oven Roast Chicken, and Mango Blueberry Crisp as served on MS Oosterdam September 29, 2017:

We enjoyed our walk around town, and joined some people we had met on the ship for a light lunch.  Here is the inside of the Convention Center where we claimed our luggage and got on the bus to the airport.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJ4jmmQOtMwsRsJtxRticdErnHjCyIZu59oV2we_kMG9A?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1616011565

While shopping we saw many interesting displays just like in Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIuYieNUWWvWu0V-gHG60Hf?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1568232147

In 2010 we had seen a moose running loose in the Anchorage outskirts.  On this day in 2019 the above moose is the only one we saw.

Happy Friday!
Bon Voyage Roy!  Thanks to @Cruzin Terri I’m following your blog, like old times!  We expect to be cruising out of NY more, living in NJ soon. Manhattan worked well boarding this month’s cruise but our plan to get a taxi upon debarking was not good. Hoping to learn more about the Red Hook pier in Brooklyn. Your car service idea sounds like a winner!

@Quartzsite Cruiser Lenda, hoping all is good and you and Steve can go home today. 🙏 the results are Amazing!

@kazu Holding you and your newly widowed BF close for your visit today. I had a long phone visit yesterday with my TX friend whose wife died Sept 3. We covered a lot of ground, good visit for both of us. I’ll see him in Dec when we go to granddaughter’s wedding in San Antonio. But we’ll always be close in heart. Friends are family we choose.

Love the Lincoln quote. Trying to be happy in the midst of upheaval here. We’re on a good path forward to the NJ retirement community near the grandkids. Moving is hard!  Mentally taxing, emotionally wrenching and physically draining but worth it all!

Blessings to all in need of healing, comfort or hope. Yay for all celebrating milestones and accomplishments! Life is Good!
Bon Voyage to Roy and safe travels to Mary Kay and all heading to their embarkations. Happy safe and healthy times for those aboard.
Prayers for peace in our country and your country and around the world.
Thanks to @JazzyV for the great lists and all who make this thread so warm and caring !

We have family coming in today, might not be posting but will be keeping you all in my heart and blessings. Have an excellent weekend all!
Maureen

Fabulous Orioles game last night!  We are the AL East champions in addition to winning 100 games this season.IMG_7984.thumb.webp.a9ce63bae64e492849ee3c55a06184dc.webpThe World Maritime Day 2023 took place yesterday, 28 September 2023. This year's World Maritime theme is "MARPOL at 50 – Our commitment goes on".  The theme reflects the organization's long history of protecting the environment from the impact of shipping via a robust regulatory framework and emphasizes its ongoing commitment to this important work. The theme spotlights the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL), which covers prevention of pollution of the marine environment by ships from operational or accidental causes.

(from the International Maritime Organization website)

Positive thoughts to those who need them.  Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.

Daily-ites,

I haven't caught up with the past three days and will try to read them later. But wanted you to know my DH has been hospitalized with outcomes uncertain.

He didn't feel well Monday, started coughing Tuesday, and by Wednesday he was gasping for breath with increasing temperature and chest wheezing & rattling plus pain. He was taken to Emergency.

At ER, he was whisked into a room already filled with doctors & nurses as triage recorded a life-threatening 154bpm heart rate. His heart was in A-Fibrillation. His temperature had reached 103°F. DH was COVID negative but had pneumonia plus he was unable to maintain proper oxygen saturation.

He was admitted to our highly regarded multi-floor Heart Unit. DH's longtime Cardiologist and a locally beloved PCP turned Hospitalist are treating him. He is getting great care. But, these new medical issues plus his recently increasing leg weakness and multiple falls (despite ongoing physical therapy) make his future situation uncertain. When he is able to leave the hospital, a rehab is likely, but his overall debilitation puts a return home in question.

I'm doing okay. I'm remaining hopeful but realistic. Prayers would be appreciated,

-Melisa
