Oh, for the love of Cookies! Say it ain't so...

Maybe, if I show this to "someone" onboard and they get the hint ... and have someone in the gallery find some potatoes 😉 😉 😉   A special breakfast order for the next morning 😁 😄 😋 from the Access Desk on our next cruise, since the niece in our 2nd cabin does have allergies and need to alert them ahead & submit a request, regardless 🤔

On cruises I'm typically hunting for black caviar, not banal (prosaic) cookies.

When cruising NCL, have you found that in the last three years?

- note I don't really care about cookies. But I do about some of the other cutbacks, so I'm with the give me my cookies crowd! -

Actually, yes, last September I got it once at an event while on Escape.  In 2 months I will not hunt for it: I will have 24-hour at any place on Seabourn Pursuit for 17 days (I also had in last March on Seabourn Venture).

Wow! Stunned you found it on Escape. Doubt it is anymore, but alas....have fun on Seabourn!

One must be adventurous and resourceful, and you can find almost anything available on a cruise ship.  In March 2022 I was hunting for all possible beers and wine on Celebrity Constellation, and I succeeded - even bartenders were wondering where did I get certain wines when I showed them what I fit at a different bar.

So if I order these in advance and have them delivered to the room on embarkation day, just out of curiosity are these baked fresh on board or are they from packaged cookies?

Having worked in the provider side, you'd be surprised how much is par baked, frozen, shipped, then baked to finish.  Actually taste quite fresh.

Well....who knew this would be a topic that anyone cared about?  But, here we are.

There are cookies on board.  I think it depends on the ship, but I saw (and ate) chocolate chip cookies on the Prima last week.  I also saw and ate chocolate chip cookies on the Epic 4 months ago.

Yes, they were fresh. Yes, they were good.

Not buying the OP's friend's story.

Sorry you’re not buying their story, but it’s what they experienced.  Maybe as an newer ship (Prima), they’re still providing the goodies they don’t bother with on the older ships like the Getaway. When my friend said they spoke to the GM and Captain and this is what they were told, I have a tendency to believe it. I will be on the Getaway in a few weeks and will come back with firsthand experience. As an experienced NCL traveler, I can try to work whatever angles I can find. And if I say no cookies (to non-Haven,non-Vibe people) then you can take that to the bank!  😁

hello!

very recent getaway experience over here!

no cookies to speak of.

no in room amenity (club balcony and casino guest). none in the vibe. none in the casino mini-buffet.

i'm not a big cookie eater, but i don't remember seeing them anywhere, including the buffet.

Hey....wasn't on that cruise.  I was on the Epic, an older ship than the "Aways" and they had cookies.

Sometimes I think crew find it convenient to blame "it's a corporate decision" as an excuse for some sort of particular ship shortcoming.  To me, regardless of the age of the ship, they are all so regimented when it comes to food, it's because they want to be consistent from ship to ship.

Now, if the crew said they ran out of chocolate chips?  Or, maybe had a mixer breakdown to make the cookies?  I'd buy that.  But, to say it was a "corporate decision" not to have cookies is tough for me to believe.

The flip side, I've read some guest recounts of different things on the same cruise I sailed that I know for a fact just aren't true.  Don't know why.  But, they do.

Yeah. After my most recent cruise I read quite a few comments in different places that just wasn't right. Along the line of "There was NO information at all about this". And yet somehow I knew about it and even had a printed information leaflet and had talked about it with other people that also somehow knew about it... Of course this was about minor things like itinerary related stuff and not IMPORTANT things like cookies!  That we, by the way, had every day. This was in December.

Of course, and the Vibe isn't worth it for anyone at any price. We know, we know. If the Bird doesn't like it, it shouldn't exist.

there will be a time when NCL will get rid of tenders and NCL defenders will excuses why that is a good thing 🤣🙂 🙂

I would normally laugh at people who have to have specific food on cruises, but my husband absolutely loves cookies and would choose them for dessert over most other things.  Baking fresh cookies for him is the ultimate gift.  He searches for cookies onboard to save for his evening snack in the cabin.  He found them in the casino on the Jade TA in November '23, and I believe they were on the buffet at lunch a few times as well.  You would think he is a hoarder when you see his plate, but he really does finish them by the end of the cruise.  We had an unmemorable Carnival cruise a few years back but he still raves about the peanut butter cookies on that ship.  NCL shouldn't underestimate the impact of having cookies available.

As a side note, my husband grabbed a plate of cookies in the casino to graciously share with our group of four sitting in the bar area just outside Le Bistro.  A bartender came and said we weren't allowed to have cookies here and he has to take them. I'm still not sure if they didn't want them removed from the casino (like they're only for active casino players) of if they don't allow food to be eaten in the bar area.  Either way, we all looked at each other and simultaneously grabbed a final cookie before he took the plate away. Cookies are serious business to some people.

My companion is a diabetic and he likes to take cookies to the stateroom and have a snack at night time specially if his sugar levels are too low. He looks for them, is just the easiest snack. I have to admit the last two cruises they have been hard to find, but when we asked we were told to find them around 3 o'clock to 5 in the buffet, tea time they said.

LOL no i meant ship tenders (boats), I was being sarcastic. I was talking about NCL enthusiasts that defend NCL no matter what.

It IS a good thing.  It's just that some ports aren't big enough to allow the bigger ships to dock.  I would welcome all ports not needing tenders.

Consider this.

Many (not all) of the pastries served for dessert look a lot better than they taste.

But the cookies are of a decent quality (certainly not premium quality; I just picked up a few Crumbl's yesterday).

Having some instead of the "fancy" dessert items would often be a better choice.
