@Sox Fan Cruiser

After seeing your post, I went to the App and Spellbound has been updated to 5:00, 6:30, and 8:00. I reserved a date and time, and the App wants to use my credit card.  I didn't confirm the reservation because I prefer to use OBC since I have enough to cover the cost. Do you or any other CC Members know if there is a way to use OBC before we are on the ship?

By the way, born in Boston grew up in southern NH. Sox fan for life!

Thanks!

Murf

You can use Shareholder and possibly military OBC before boarding but not the rest.

Thanks, Suekel. We have both Shareholder and Military OBC on our account. I did not get an option to choose between OBC & CC. So it appears if you are off ship you make dining reservations using credit card and if you are onboard you can use OBC.

I think the sun looks very stylish overall.

What's everyone's thoughts on the new style Piazza? To me, it is the one thing I've seen on the ship that I think looks really tacky! Hoping Princess scraps the awful blue strobe lights and huge screen!!

I've heard that there is a non smoking section.

Having a non-smoking section in the Casino is the same as having a non-peeing section in the pool. It just doesn't work.

Unless & until one of their Brain Surgeon Engineers figures out a "Down-Draft Suction" ventilation system with below floor duct work, you will never find a non-smoking section. IMHO

I have a reserve cabana on 9 booked for September.  Is the balcony big enough for the Ultimate Balcony dinner?   I assume they will bring a bigger table.

I am NOT an expert, but will try to answer, as I have also looked into this.

Yes, the balcony will be big enough.   The C2 category cabana mini suites  (the ones that are not directly on the open cabana deck) look to have a bigger balcony than the C1 category. (the ones that are actually ON the open cabana deck)

Yes, they will bring a larger table, table cloth, flowers, etc.   (at least this has always been)

The balcony will be big enough, for sure.

You will have the higher blue glass wall on all these cabins on deck 9.

And, of course, if you are in a C1 category, there could be a few people out on that open cabana deck enjoying the evening, which could be fairly close as you have your UBD.

I believe that these balconies on deck 9 are not covered.

They will still be able to do the UBD in your 'cabana' or maybe even your stateroom, if the weather does not cooperate.

Thank you.  It's a C2 so we'll have some privacy.

We've been booked on Sun for October, 2024.  We haven't checked the very disturbing threads about all the things that aren't ready for prime time.  Entertainment, the Deck 19 stuff, etc.  Anyone have an update as to whether or not things have been fixed?  We haven't found any reasonable options.  It's either hope Sun improves or nothing.

I believe it is already improving!!!  Word is that the shows, and hopefully Park 19, etc..  will all be up and running soon.

I am looking forward to October, with very few worries.  (except that personally, for me, the new modern look and feel won't appeal like my favorite Princess ship. )

I had heard about the ship being warm, needed some AC temp. improvement.

I would love to hear that this is no longer!  And, a few comments about noticing stray smoke that is not limited to smoking areas....  I don't think that can be addressed easily.

It’s not that disturbing. We just got off and most of it was ready. It will all be fully operational by October.  Couldn’t care less about Park 19 and was glad it wasn’t ready. That should not make or break your cruise. Love is the only thing still in the works that we wanted to do.

So it sounds like things are improving.  How was the MDR?

We were in a suite so we ate in the Signature restaurant. I will say that line on deck 7 was an absolute mess the first two days. With deck 6 being traditional and the reservation line for deck 7, at 7pm there were just people everywhere. Horrible layout. The deck 7 reservation line is situated right in front of the aft elevators. Was very glad we were in a suite.

But it did get better as the cruise progressed.

To me, the modern look is straight out of Ikea.

The decor is horrible!  It’s the opposite of a Celebrity ship where the artwork threw up on the ship. It’s beyond plain. I would like something more in the middle of the two.

Those two things do concern me a little.

They're usually items that can only be corrected when the ship is if dry dock and shouldn't have been something that occurs on a brand new ship. Sounds like a design problem.

Hoping for the best. 🤞

IMO, this is a fleetwide problem that has never been addressed. Disappointing still an issue on a new ship.

Giggled when I read on another site a comment from a suite passenger currently on Sun Princess that the crew call the scenic elevators "The Willy Wonka Elevators". I admit they do shake you around a bit but didn't quite have the same result as the movie!  (I went for the original!)

A new video by a couple who are Cruise Vloggers says that the breakfast menu in the dining room is very very limited.   Is this true?   I enjoy a nice breakfast served to my table from time to time on a cruise, so this would be disappointing.

On port days yes, it does seem as if the MDR has a limited Express Breakfast menu:

For Sea Days, it's more extensive:
