Quartzsite Cruiser Posted April 22 #51 Share Posted April 22 (edited) Good morning from a cold for us central Texas. It is currently 46F heading to a high of 71F. The skies are clear and there is little or no wind. Today is laundry day since we are getting low on some clothes. Last night, we tried to see the comet, but we were not successful. The best viewing time was just before sunset, which wasn't good. The comet was near the sun, and the area near the sun was just too bright. A little after sunset, the trees and clouds were in the way since the comet is low in the sky. Maybe we'll be successful tonight. We will celebrate Earth Day, and Girl Scout leaders. Both DDs were Brownies and older DD was a Girl Scout like her mother. The Dr. Seuss quote is interesting. Coleslaw is a good side dish, but I like it with the creamy dressing. We'll pass on the drink, but would like to try the wine. We have been to Mykonos twice, and really like it better than Santorini. Barbara Walters was a broadcast pioneer in many ways, and a great role model for women. @grapau27 Graham, you and Pauline will be in our thoughts today as you remember your lovely mam on her 94th birthday. Thank you for the explanation of Chemists Celebrate Earth Day. @MISTER 67 Better luck to the Lightning tomorrow night. @rafinmd Roy, I hope your routine visit with the oncologist is just routine. @aliaschief Bruce, thanks for the pictures from Oman and the interesting topography. Also, the white night looks like another success. @Haljo1935 Elizabeth, I hope the PCP gets the records and can complete the LOA papers. Your DGD is a cutie. @dfish Debbie, don't worry about the second picture. I've had the same problem. Oh, remember, today is Monday. @kochleffel Paul, I hope Passover is a good time for you. Rare ottahand7 Posted April 22 #52 Share Posted April 22 Good Monday morning! Thanks for the Daily and maps, Sandi, Rich and Roy. Happy Earth Day everyone. I agree with @0106 that plastics are taking over our lives. Girl Scout Leaders should be celebrated. A wonderful quote today by Dr. Seuss. Barbara Walters became a new anchor in 1976, a long time ago. I like coleslaw so thanks for the recipes today Debbie. A mystery cocktail and a wonderful wine. Again Vanessa I woke up thinking about your surgery today. You sure deserve some relief from your pain. To all who celebrate Passover have a lovely and meaningful Seder tonight. @Haljo1935 thanks for the lovely photo of your DGD. @rafinmd I hope you get a good report at your oncologist today. Prayers for Tana, Annie and Chuck and everyone else in our group who is hurting or ailing. Prayers for all of those in war zones, Ukraine, Israel and the innocents in Gaza. Another day of trying to get stuff done outside. It was so chilly yesterday I didn't get a lot accomplished because I linger inside until it at least gets near 50 degrees, especially when it is windy. Yesterday I tried to get some organization around a private shore excursion in Papeete next year. The first people expressing interest didn't get back to me. Finally I posted my email and a deadline of Friday for everyone interested in order to try to get the list of people who will go with us on our 6-person tour. Our Roll Call is already reaching 40 pages. Have a nice day everyone. Nancy 22
Quartzsite Cruiser Posted April 22 #53 Share Posted April 22 We have been to Mykonos twice. In 2003, we were there on the old Regal Princess as part of the mystery cruise. We rented a car and drove around most of the island. In 2016, we were there on the Prinsendam and just walked around town. Today's picrtures are a combination from both visits. After going to Santorini twice, we decided we like Mykonos better. A couple more pictures of the iconic windmills on Mykonos. Outside the town For the Garden Club Back in town, Paraportiani Orthodox church on the waterfront Some of the back streets in town Mykonos from the ship Lenda 20
cunnorl Posted April 22 #54 Share Posted April 22 Good Morning from an overcast day at the beach Not sure what our weather will be today. They were way off on the forecast. We were all Campfire girls but my nieces girls are Girl Scouts. My niece is the leader. I do salute Earth Day and try my best to protect our beautiful earth. I try not to use plastic but sometimes there is no choice. I wish all who are observing a peaceful Passover. Love cole slaw. Have never been to todays port. Extra prayers for Vanessa @JazzyV today. @summer slope Have a wonderful cruise with your family. I will wave to you as you float across the harbor. @Rowsby A very Happy Birthday. May you have many more. Off to water aerobics Stay safe and enjoy today Charlene 25

ger_77 Posted April 22 #56 Share Posted April 22 Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! DH could have been a chemist, as that was one of his degrees, but he chose education instead. We do celebrate Earth Day; a couple of years ago I made some great cloth bags out of table runners I found at the dollar store and they're still holding up well after many washings. Yay for all Girl Scout leaders. Wow, it's still early and we're already on page 3; I guess that comes from the individual posting of good wishes. When I got up the sky looked grey and strange - that's because it rained overnight. It's partially cleared up now, but according to the forecast we could have more showers until mid-afternoon. Fine by me, as it helps take down the snow that we received last week and provides extra moisture for the trees and grass. @JazzyVprayers for you and your medical team as you have your surgery today. @summer slopeBon Voyage; have a wonderful cruise! @Rowsbywishing you a very Happy Birthday with many healthy and happy returns of the day. @grapau27sending comforting thoughts as you commemorate your late Mam's birthday. @1ANGELCAThugs across the miles; the anniversary of the passing of our parents is always a sad day to mark. I hope it helps knowing others care. Not a lot on our plates today, just some laundry and a bit of shopping to do this morning. This afternoon I'll head back to the sewing machine and finish off the coasters - yesterday I put together another couple of sets and sewed all but 2 of the 13 sets before it was time to quit. Today I have to finish sewing the last 2, then iron each of them, and do the topstitching before putting them away. I've never had a Fujiyama, but it sounds interesting. Pretty sure I'd like the wine, and we often have coleslaw as a side dish. I like coleslaw, but prefer a creamy dressing, and don't like it when people put horseradish into it. Yuck. Tonight's dinner will be easy - I've got a container of turkey soup thawing that we'll enjoy with cheese croissants at the kitchen table. And wine. Prayers for everyone who is in need, in pain, in grief, and in turmoil. Cheers to all who have celebrations happening today. Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️ Gerry 24

kochleffel Posted April 22 #62 Share Posted April 22 I think that the coleslaw needs to accompany a pastrami sandwich (after Passover). Will think about the drink when I know what it is. For the wine, I might substitute Fulkerson's Zweigelt even though the variety is from the other side of Europe. I've been to Mykonos but any pictures I have are of Delos. 17
Cruzin Terri Posted April 22 #63 Share Posted April 22 Good morning to all. Sorry I did not post yesterday. It was a hard day for us. We made the difficult decision to cancel our trip to Italy. I am not going to go into detail. We just decided that it was more than DH could handle right now. Thanks for your understanding. luvteaching Posted April 22 #64 Share Posted April 22 Good morning, We're having a sunny day today but starting out at 30F so chilly. @JazzyV Best wishes for a successful surgery today! I'm thinking of you. Today is the pool, a quick stop at the grocery store then working here at home. There's always something. I like coleslaw and get a bag of angel hair cabbage at the grocery store to make salads. It has a nice crunch and stays fresh. My favorite cole slaw is the one from White Spot - especially when it's served with the toasted shrimp sandwich! Yum!! Karen

Cruising-along Posted April 22 #70 Share Posted April 22 Good morning all! We're having a few nice days and then the rain will return. Tomorrow should be especially nice, sunny and up near 70 F. A good selection of days, I'll pass on the red wine and drink, love coleslaw but in moderation. Tonight we'll be having left overs of the Pesto Chicken Meatballs we had last night. We were in Mykonos in 2011 on the Celebrity Silhouette. We took an excursion over to Delos, and the rest of the time I spent petting every cat I saw....and there were many. 🙂 Vanessa @JazzyV Thinking of you today and praying this will be the answer. Bon Voyage Dixie @summer slope! Happy Birthday Sue @Rowsby! Safe travels Maureen @RMLincoln @Denise T Good news that you won't have jury duty. The day after we left on the Grand Voyage I got a jury summons -- I couldn't believe it. Long story short, it has been postponed to August. I'm hoping I won't be called, because parking near the courthouse is so bad. @Cruzin Terri I'm very sorry you had to cancel your trip 😞 Sandi @StLouisCruisers Thank you for your prayers re Amber 🙂 She actually is BFF's DIL, but since BFF has always seemed like another sister to me (we've been friends since 4th grade) Amber does seem like a family member of mine. Today we'll be going to Total Wine to add to the supply, and then stopping by DS and DIL's to see them. DIL had foot surgery while we were on our cruise, I'm glad she's doing well and weight-bearing now. It was quite extensive surgery. Some photos from our day in Mykonos The Silhouette in Mykonos I sat very still next to Petros, the resident pelican.. Mykonos windmills Hundreds of cats, each one beautiful and healthy looking. Delos The lions of Delos A couple murals in the Museum of Delos A gorgeous sunset leaving Mykonos 22

Good selection of days. The quote is good also. I think most everyone likes Coleslaw. We have been to Mykonos, IMHO the prettiest of the Greek Islands. My Lightning were beat by the Panthers yesterday in game 1 of their Stanley Cup Playoff series, gotta get them tomorrow night. Have a great day and stay well. My wife loves it but I really do not. Rare Nickelpenny Posted April 22 #72 Share Posted April 22 (edited) Happy Earth Day to all and thanks for the daily and fleet report. It will be a beautiful one here as the temps climb up to mid 90s under sunny skies. I will salute Girl Scouts as I was one and also my oldest daughter (and I occasionally buy the delicious cookies - Scot-Teas were the best but now it is Trefoils!!). Interesting quote by Dr. Seuss, love coleslaw, not real sure about the drink, yes to the wine and I haven't been to Mykonos. Barbara Walters was always a trail blazer. I am up late but I want to wish @JazzyV best wishes for a speedy recovery. Bon Voyage @summer slope and Happy Birthday @Rowsby. Happy Passover to those who celebrate. Sorry to hear you canceled your trip @Cruzin Terri . Starting to put away my winter bedding, changing it out to the summer ones. Plus setting up my fans in the living room and bedroom. I hate air conditioning so I rarely use it but rely on ceiling and floor fans with windows and door open. Lovely. Thoughts for those on the care list and those with sad memories. Cheers to those celebrating and have a great day everyone! Edited April 22 by Nickelpenny correction 21 1
Rare Vict0riann Posted April 22 #73 Share Posted April 22 Good morning, Dailyites! We returned home last night after a very long day of flying from Amsterdam to Victoria. I think we were up over 24 hours. Everything went smoothly, and our bags arrived home with us. They are, as yet, still unopened... Wishing @JazzyV a very successful surgery and no more pain after! In 2016 we visited Mykonos for the third or fourth time, but this time with our DD, Cathy, and we also met Tony, @sailingdutchy, for the first time. We had dinner with him and Martha the night before the cruise in Athens, and he had organized some interesting tours for the Prinsendam cruise. We loved sailing with Cathy, and we sent her to Delos the morning of the day in Mykonos that time and then we met her at the dock and wandered around, it's another one of those pretty blue and white Greek towns. We had an amazing lunch on the waterfront, so good I forgot to take pictures, of course. Lunch break Local guard cat 22
Rowsby Posted April 22 #74 Share Posted April 22 Thanks for all the birthday wishes...and for remembering me....!!! Yesterday...before my family came with yummy cakes and neat gifts....I put little lights in my lego's....it was just like setting bombs...took an hour...but they got a real kick out of it..... I had never put a lego together until receiving the Bonsai Tree for Christmas....and as my family said....it was a slippery slope....and I am now running out of room....!!! 😂😂 20
bennybear Posted April 22 #75 Share Posted April 22 Good morning and thanks all! @StLouisCruisers thanks for stepping up to keep us going! @JazzyV prayers for a great outcome! @Cruzin Terri so sorry to hear you had to cancel, but sometimes the tough decision is the best decision. @Rowsby happy birthday! Just a FYI, we had a Novavax Covid booster and zero side effects! Felt like a miracle! We’ve visited Mykonos three times, but once we couldn’t tender in, and another time the ship was listing badly due to the meltemi winds. 21
