Princess Plus at zero. Deceptive pricing

Went in to check new rates and it showed same rates, but Princess Plus at zero, so I added it and booked the cruise.  When I checked my booking, it didn’t show the Princess Plus.  I’ve been on help Chat for the past hour and they say they can’t figure it out.  I rebooked again as it is still showing, and took screen shots.  Looks like they won’t honor it.  Talk about deceptive tactics!!!!!!!   Waiting on a supervisor now.  Any other hints?

Never book on line. We always book through our CVP. Systems all over the world have glitches and companies are not legally obligated to honor them

Over the last several weeks I have seen Plus at $0, $80 $90, as well as the real $60. In most cases Premier has been all over the place including lower than Plus. I have upload a couple of pic to different threads. I always assumed a glitch laughed and moved on.

Princess will honor online pricing if it is reasonable.  We saw the same for our TA.  Cabin and fees with Plus was $2400+/- last week and $1200 Sunday.  Obviously an error.  My TA called and was given some OBC.

Chat was, is, and always be useless except for questions about ordinary questions.

Agree with memoak that booking on line can cause stress.  You will likely get a bit of OBC.  The terms of booking specifically exclude online glitches.

Be positive with the supervisor and ask for a specific amount of OBC.  FWIW we got $200

It does get offered for "free", when it's included in the other pricing.  You see this from some of the big box retailers, but it's really not free.

I like it when people post that their TA gave them the PLUS package ...yeah, right

yes some TA may offer it for “free” but never on Princess web site. Just like the “free” cruises that showed up a month or so ago it is a glitch n

It is definitely time for Princess and Padgett to fire their IT team and hire a competent company to run their IT Dept!  This is RIDICULOUS!!!

 

And, they can fire Padgett while they are at it!!!

But so entertaining.  If they got it right even once I would not get my laugh of the day.

There have been promos where Plus was "free" or discounted offered through travel agents, not through Princess.  I do compare Princess' online price with travel agencies as some of them do not participate in the room upgrade program. 
Last one I booked, I went with the travel agent as the perks outweighed the opportunity to upgrade.  Got the room I wanted with a significant fare difference that made upgrading not worth the risk.  

These do not come often, last one I saw was February.

It's a glitch. They don't have to "honor" it. This happened a lot in 2022 online.

A SCAM is something done on purpose.

How am I to know it’s a glitch? I’m new to cruising and Princess  if I hadn’t checked my booking I would have assumed I had Plus included at zero because that’s what it shows!!!  Apparently you all know they are either incompetent or shysters   I did not

Quick question.. Were you checking your travel summary, not just the email/booking confirmation they sent ?

I hear you.  You never know if it is a glitch in my opinion.  I posted my crazy experience with Princess pricing.. like many things gone wrong that thankfully worked in my favor.  There was also a recent thread around people getting a ridiculous price for some cruises before Princess corrected the error.  Looks like Princess honored those bookings? So you never know.  

As long as you are able to cancel for free, then you have options.  I wouldn't book it if payment is due or chance to lose your deposit.  


For these things, I book it, then call Princess to confirm the details.  If the details are incorrect, then I cancel.  No harm no foul.  

It's like online price mistakes,  you order it.. they cancel the order and don't charge your card.  Or, they actually ship it at the price mistake.  You either gain something or stay neutral... as long as you have a refundable cancellation window.

You might have heard of the new Cruise Fare Pricing Policies, that begin, yes, today.

Because of laws passed in California, where most all cruise lines sail out of, they are required to avoid deceptive pricing practices, and simply show the full total.  ( all taxes, fees, port charges, maybe packages too???)

Looks like the wonderful and skilled IT computer department at Princess managed to either screw this up or to make it more confusing.

Not sure what is going on in this case..  whether the total DOES include the package, even if it does not appear to show it???  Looks like a huge glitch with the new pricing system?

I booked yesterday getting the princess plus for zero, but didn't show up on the summary

 

called the casino department today and was told no - so I said cancel the booking and don't charge me the cancellation fee.  They said okay

 

called my CVP but can not get through, have been emailing back and forth.  She is trying to get them to honor the deal, but we all know what will happen.

Sounds like this is another Greenland free balcony with plus IT issue.  People who never set foot in the casino were claiming those offers and they knew they did not have prior casino history.  Same thing happened to me on casino deal this past weekend as the plus was showing as 0 cost.  I knew it was a glitch, so waited to call my casino host on Monday.  Yep, it was a glitch.  None of my casino offers via email or as showing in my account show free princess plus. I knew that.  So why would I argue?

Common sense is what I use.  When I book something obviously nuts I call politely and ask for something for my trouble.

When I was looking to buy a new car a couple months ago one dealer showed $3800 instead of $38000.  We're they incompetent?  Somebody hit a wrong key.  Happens every day.  They offered to sell me at invoice.  Was a reasonable offer.

Also you have been a member of Cruise Critic for over 10 years.  Correct?
