Today's sunrise is from my 2011 Prinsendam Arctic cruise.  August 12 was my final sea day before an early disembarkation in Edinburgh to connect to Queen Mary 2 for my return home:

Some things, like smiles and kindness, are the same wherever we find ourselves. Consistency can be calming and soothing.

And then there's traffic...always traffic. It's the same in any language, lol, only difference is which side of the road does one drive on 🚙 and what's to see while making the journey. 🤔Oh, yeah, and how much yelling happens while honking.🙄

Our driver is passionate about honking, yelling and braking. Quick, hard hold-onto-whatever-you-can-grab braking.

The traffic

But there is an end in sight and it involves a port and a ship 🚢

Good morning from a pleasant day in Wisconsin.  When I woke up it was 55F.  Supposed to get to the low 80's later.  We had a quiet weekend at the lake house with DD and DSIL.  He is a great cook!

The meal sounds good.  I remember the Borden Dairy milkman coming and putting the milk in the milk chute!  Elsie the Cow was their mascot.   Thanks to  Isaac Singer and Henry Ford!  Mom had a Singer machine...I should have kept it, even though it was very heavy...probably better than the plastic machines made now.

@richwmnHappy Birthday to you!

@luvteachingHappy Birthday to your Dear Mother!

@RMLincolnBon Voyage to you!  Hope your cruise is wonderful after a few blips!

@Haljo1935Bon Voyage to you!

@Seasick SailorPrayers for your DS.

Have a good day!

Good morning and Happy Monday. Three good days to celebrate. My grandmother had a Singer sewing machine. She made all her own clothes and also for her 13 children. She must have been constantly sewing!  When I had a Barbie she made some clothes for her too.

I would like the meal but not today. I didn’t make the chicken yesterday because TJ’s didn’t have peach jam or preserves. I’ll make it sometime this week after we get to a different grocery store. Today is either the steak salad or chicken lettuce cups.

I would try the wine but Pinot Grigio isn’t a favorite. I’ve had many Cosmopolitans but just like Martinis they are a one and done drink for me so I don’t drink them anymore. I’ve started drinking a Dutch 150 on BHB’s and they are much tamer.

Rich @richwmn, Happy Birthday!! 🎈🎈🎈

Elizabeth @Haljo1935, Bon Voyage!  🛳️ Yikes on that traffic to the pier.

@luvteaching, Happy Birthday to your DM!  Enjoy your cruise too!

Joy @Seasick Sailor, continued prayers for Bonnie. Yikes on the glass down the drain. I bet the disposal sounds horrible.

Maureen @RMLincoln, sorry to hear that the ship hasn’t sailed yet and that it will miss Sydney. Thank you for keeping us posted while you are enjoying your cruise.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning and thanks all!
@richwmn wishing you a wonderful birthday!
@luvteaching happy birthday to your DM!
@Haljo1935 Bon Voyage!
@Seasick Sailor prayers for Bonnie!
We had a busy weekend, DS officiating at a wedding in Banff.  Such a beautiful place but so busy.  We preferred more laid back Canmore,  for a quieter dinner.
We have another celebrity bird,  a whooping crane is making its current home nearby.  One of only 400 in the wild!

We have a milk “shoot” also used by the bread man. Remember when we skimmed the cream of the top of the milk?

 I remember that... and I also remember when the milk started to freeze if we were not fast enough getting it in ..... the cream rose and pushed the cardboard cap off.

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

I'll celebrate youths. No middle children in my family (I'm an only). Growing up we had a milkman and a container on the porch where the milk bottle were placed. Funny quote. I like the meal, the drink is one I've never had but sounds good, and pass on the wine. I was in Castro on my SA/Antarctica cruise on the Zaandam in 2018. 3 good days in history.

It's another nice day - sunny, high of 79F, low humidity, after starting in the 50's. I'm still having some issues, and I get to do my home maneuvers tomorrow, so hopefully that will help. I have a couple of packages to get to the post office, stop at the pharmacy and maybe the grocery store for a few things.

@Haljo1935 Bon Voyage!

@richwmn Happy Birthday! Thank you for all you do to keep the Fleet Report/Daily going.

@luvteaching Happy 98th Birthday to your DM!

@StLouisCruisers I'm glad DS made it safely to TX. I hope Ren gets a good report from the doctor. Very nice photos from Castro.

@MISTER 67 Welcome home.

@smitty34877 Continued prayers for Tana, you and the family.

@cat shepard It's good to be thinking of your future, especially before the need might become urgent.

@0106 Great Castro photos.

@dfish Sorry about the toilet not working properly. Thanks for the recipes.

@Sir PMP Thanks for the map and photos.

@Mtn2Sea Excellent photos.

@RMLincoln I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, despite the delayed departure and missing one port. Relax and take advantage of the time away.

@Seasick Sailor I wouldn't have thought a glass dropped in the sink would take out the disposal. Continued prayers for Bonnie.

@ger_77 Sorry to hear about your friend's husband; I hope he'll be ok. Indeed scary, and one reason I tested myself when my GI system was acting up. And also why I got another vaccine before my upcoming trip, rather than waiting until the new one is out this fall.

@quilty964 I have my DM's old Singer featherweight sewing machine. She was an excellent seamstress in her spare time. Although called featherweight it's heavy as it's all metal. I hate to part with it, although there's a market for them.

@bennybear Lovely photos.

@kazu I hope you're doing ok.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

Well, the disposal is fixed. It took 5 minutes.

The water level in the toilet was raised. It took 2 minutes.

and $209..

Our plumber/drain guy is coming at 3:30.  He said it sounds like a plug right where the two lines from the toilets meet.  The good thing is that the downstairs toilet is not backing up when the upstairs one is flushed.  It is all "clean" water coming up.  But, I bet we can beat your bill with just one issue.  They said they'll take the downstairs toilet off and go in from there.

We had a milkman when I was a kid for a while.  Mom was having Guernsey milk delivered, but she decided that we were switching to skim milk when it became obvious that we were just feeding our fat cells.

I have a Singer sewing machine that I use for my quilting.  It does the patchwork tops, but is not big enough to do the actual quilting.  That I take to the quilt store where they have a long arm machine.

Good morning, Dailyites!  Thanks to all for the Fleet Report and Daily News - especially to Rich, and Happy Birthday, Rich!

Yesterday we had an interesting evening - the last Martin Mars water bomber came to Victoria and will be taken ashore to live out its days at the Aviation Museum.  It was escorted to Patricia Bay by the Snowbirds, and there were flyovers in a number of towns and Victoria.  There was a cruise ship at Ogden Point and the Snowbirds put on quite a show for it.  We watched it all on my computer as we had our supper.  I thought @Copper10-8 might be interestedm, as we still owe him a visit to the Aviation Museum.  It will be on display after September 28.  Now that it is at Pat Bay it has to have wheels put on it then it will be hauled overland to the airport where it will sit on a new pad, especially built for it.

Three times they tried to snag a mooring line and dropped it - finally a little boat helped them get tied up.  Evidently the pilot is 81 years old!

I imagine there will be another "show" as they take it out of the water and take it to the museum.  We did get a glimpse of it from our driveway as it flew over but it was very far away, and we were actually more concerned with the deer who where watching us, a mama with three babies!

Good morning all!

It has taken awhile to read through 3 pages of the Daily, I've had a lot of interruptions! 🐈 🐈  I think they've finally settled down now for naps.  We're enjoying having the grand-kitties again, but oh my they do get into everything.

We'll get a high of about 70F today, and more sunshine.  Hopefully I can get more done in the back yard.  I've ordered the raised bed, and will get it into place before fall.

Another funny quote, and another good comedian.  I would like everything -- wine, drink and meal.  If we can find some shrimp today we may have that tonight.  Have not been to Castro, Chile and it isn't among the many Chilean ports on the '26 World.  Great photos today, thank you all!

Happy Birthday Rich @richwmn!  Here we are on a BHB on a previous birthday of yours. 😄

Richsbirthday.jpg.e4792e92291e4a65ea736b68127029f6.jpg

Bon Voyage Elizabeth @Haljo1935!!

Happy 98th birthday to your DM Karen @luvteaching!

Praying for your sister, Joy @Seasick Sailor

Debbie @dfish and Joy @Seasick Sailor Ugh on the plumbing woes. 😞

There is a huge air museum in Tucson called the Pima Air and Space Museum.
https://pimaair.org/

I just checked and it looks like we are getting one of the Martin Mars planes called the Philippine Mars. Only 7 were built. Yours is the Hawaii Mars.

Quite impressive!  Thank you for the pictures.

@Vict0riann your post brings up a little local pride.  Martin planes were built in Middle River, MD on the Northeast side of Baltimore.  The train from Baltimore to New York comes within sight of the Martin complex where the plane would have been built.  The end of the runway leads to water leading to the Chesapeake Bay.

Happy Birthday, Rich @richwmn! Thanks for getting us off and running every day!

A Cosmo is my default cocktail, when I can't make a choice of anything else.

Good quote, good days, and good F&B!

It is a scrumptious day here, weather-wise. Temps in the 80s today, but got down into the 60s overnight. Supposed to repeat for the next 3 days. Open the windows!!

DS & I were in Williamsburg (VA) for the weekend & it was very steamy. So glad to come home to cooler temps!

Enjoy your day!
