They have my respect, AND they get a paycheck; beyond that I could care less what they pay for internet, what their stateroom looks like, or where they have happy hour (as long as it doesn’t interfere with what I PAID for).

This is what I got told from various crew members from different departments over the years. Just talk to them and then you will get their feedback, nevertheless it remains a hard job but at least RCCL is the most human in the industry as it seems together with Disney

It depends on the line.  I know a performer who has done Carnival, Royal, and Norwegian (bouncing between the three full time).  He got better compensated on one line but was in a room on deck zero or zero zero.  It was horribly cramped although he didn't have to share he did have to suffer a short twin bed.  He was also treated as crew so had to wear his name tag when in public.  On others, he gets assigned whatever and he has been in really nice insides, ocean view, and once a balcony.  Some areas he can use as a "guest" while other areas for crew he can access.

This is strictly against the rules for crew, and can result in immediate dismissal.  On NCL, we had a Hotel Director who got fired just for spending too much time in a passenger's cabin, despite the fact that they were old family friends.  In the old days, it was more common for passengers and officers to mingle, and many an officer has married a former passenger.

Ah, the all too familiar "it is known".  I've never seen much difference in crew quarters, or working conditions across the major lines.  They are all pretty similar.

Are you asking about a specific position onboard, or just interested and are an IT specialist?  It makes a big difference.  If you know the position title, and what department you would be in, how many in the department, where in the department you fit, and all these details, the type of cabin might be determined better.  Having said that, even the best cabins for anyone below the top 7 or 8 officers/supervisors onboard will be smaller than the smallest passenger cabin onboard, and only supervisors will have a single cabin.

Well Mr Knows it all...It's very easy; If you spoke to 100+ crew members over the years and you always get to hear from them that RCCL provides the best working conditions together with the word Disney that was mentioned quite frequently as well it can be safely assumed that RCCL and Disney seem to provide th best working conditions at sea, mainly when it comes to lenght of contracts working hours. Accomodation is probably the same +- throughout all the cruise lines. (I think this can be said without making out of every post a case study which you seem to enjoy 😄 )

Apparently only Royal crew has to put up with Painacles, though. I've read that is very strenuous. 😉

How many of those 100+ crew members have actually worked on multiple lines, to have actual experience with working conditions?  It's not a common practice in the industry to bounce from line to line.  As for working hours, that has become mandated by law for the maximum hours a day, and the minimum hours of rest and the periods of rest, so that is a moot point as all lines must meet the same requirements.  And I've worked with many crew who volunteer for 2 to 3 back to back (no vacation in between) 10 month contracts, and not with RCI or Disney.

I am very wary about information dissemination from the crew, there is always the possibility of extreme bias (see any gratuity policy statements issued by crew members)

The gratuity statements by the crew and always asking to get a 10 in the survey as anything below that is considered as underperforming is a different story. When you get to hear from them on what is going on on in the Carnival group it will not influence if and how much extra tips I would pay. Also without hearing such a statement from a crew member you would never see me on a Carnival ship 😄

So, never having been on a Carnival ship, you are relying on third hand reports from crew who may or may not have had any actual experience on Carnival ships, and whose stories may or may not be apocryphal.

     They have their own bar and dance area. I had a friend who worked on MSC, last year I went and partied with all the staff. It was a blast.
