We went to Aruba on a cruise in Sept 2006 and i have been itching to get back since.

We took a half day jeep tour using abc-tours.com which showed us good sites on the island. Ostrich farm was amazing- never did any of that kind of stuff elsewhere. Then we went back to the ship for lunch and took a cab to Palm beach and spent some time waiting for a sunset.

We are booked at the raddison for that week. my email is serene56@aol.com send me an email and maybe I can check to see if we are allowed guest to spend the day using the pools/ chairs.

cool. I'll do that!

Has anybody got any comments to make about this room? Its an SS on Navigation deck, but i'm worried it may be noisy and I've got a 5yr old that I don't want waking up? It looks as if its under the cafe and not under the pool area.

Any info is gratefully received.

Suzie

Am wondering how your cruise went and how you liked your room - - we are booked on the Noordam for Christmas 2008 and have room #8041

Anyone have any info on this Cabin?? We have four of us (2 adults and two children 11 and 13) booked!
While I've never stayed in this cabin you are directly above the back lounge. You may heard some noise coming from the lounge when they have shows there. The stage is on the other side of the ship though. It shouldn't be too bad.

Somewhere in here there was a discussion not to book cabin 4226 on Spirit class ships.

Just got off the Spirit where one of our party had this cabin. I was in it quite a bit and the stairwell that is discussed was not an issue. As a matter of fact this was a great cabin.

With that said, the balcony is very small....If you are with a party that is next to you however, with the balcony divider opened it is awesome!

A picture of any cat 8 will show you what it looks like.

You will have two beds on the floor that will be pushed together- A convertible sofa-- the back comes off and its made to a bed.

Some of the sofas have two huge drawers underneath for storage so you want to check it out. and an upper bed will be above the sofa which is put away during the day.

with 4 people-- unpack your bags. Put bags under the bed for storage and use one of those bags for storage of dirty clothes.

Glory 2342

Just booked this. I'm so used to Fantasy class ships with 4 decks of cabins, that it didn't occur to me to look at the other decks when I was deciding which inside cabin to pick!

It looks like this should be under the Golden Dining room. As such, I wouldn't expect any noise early or late.

Anyone have any input?

Thanks for starting this thread! I wish someone had advised me on cabin selection and what to avoid (you might have thought my cruise travel agent would have known). I have learned from experience that not all cabins are in the most desirable location; it's nice to have someone who has been there to advise us of what cabin NOT to book!

the higher you go the more you pay.

you are under the dining room and it is carpeted so you are correct with not hearing noise from this area.

Breakfast and lunch is served using the aft dining room

We are taking a cruise on Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas. We opted for the balcony room on the 7th floor. We love balconies, but did not want to pay the higher price for the higher floor. We are booked about 15 rooms away from the front and I noticed it is right next to the elevators and stairs. Do you think this is a problem? Im new to cruising and not sure about locations of rooms. Also, I have ran across several people talking about hump deck rooms, I guess these are the rooms in the middle of the ship where the deck is humped out. Can someone tell me the advantage to having these and why they seem so popular. Thank you guys for all your help

Ships have decks-- not floors. (LOL) what kind of cabin did you have on the Carnival ship?

Well you did good with picking a cabin on deck 7. Deck 6 has balconies that have a metal partition instead of plexiglass giving it a kinda closed in feeling.

Hump cabins are sought after because its midship-- easy access to stairs/ elevators. These cabins also give a view from front to back.. you will only be able to see to the back to where these hump cabins sit.. but to be honest-- how many people spend time looking down the side of the ship??

You are in the front of the ship so you will have a long haul to get to the food/pools on the lido deck.

Closer to the aft elevators to the midship elevators would be great for access to food/pools

Well, I know that! :p

It's just that after 4 cruises on smaller Carnival ships with all the passenger decks on the lower decks (other than the handful of suites on the upper decks), I forget that they aren't ALL like that! It was one of the things that I found so different when on Miracle. I rather liked having all the "activity" decks together and all the cabin decks together. Going from the casino on Deck 2 to the buffet on Deck 9 was quite a haul (and yes, I take the stairs to work off the calories!).

That's good to know. Even more exercise! And I assume I should walk all the way aft before taking the stairs up to that dining room to avoid the galley "blockage" that I've read so much about.

The Carnival Spirt class ships are the best for navigation around.

I too like that everything was together.

I see you are sailing on the Glory-- and youwill encounter that dreaded dead end. Yep the aft elevator will take you to the food. The midship one will get you up there but then you MUST walk outside around the pools which can get awful crowded etc to get to the food.

Deck 5 will get you from front to back with no hassles..

Make sure you buy some choc covered strawberries at that pastry bar on the promanade deck-- they used to buy 5 of those suckers for $3.00

do a search on www.google.com in the seach box type in Princess L106.

You dont have to take the cabin your agent assigned you to-- if others are available you can asked to be moved more midship.

Ruby doesnt set sail until Nov 2008

Royal Caribbean does not necessarily price by decks. It's pricing is more by category and location. I.e. an E1 balcony you can find on multiple decks just as E2s, D1 and so on.

Within a stateroom type you have different categories. I.e. Balcony state rooms have categories E and D. The difference between E and D is size with the the D being bigger. But you can find Es and Ds scattered throughout different decks. Each Category is divided in sub categories indicated by a number i.e. E1, E2, D1, D2, D3. Each of those you can find on different decks. I.e. E1s on deck 6, 7 and 8. They are all priced the same.

The hump is on certain ship classes a section which comes out a little further. One of the reasons for the run on humps is that you can see bow and stern from your balcony. But the further your cabin is away from the hump the less impact it actually has. But unless you stand over the railing and you would love to see bow and stern it doesn't make a difference. The other reason is that the hump is at the aft elevator. This elevator is the elevator which connects you to the Windjammer and Dining room. Very convinient.

Now to your cabin: as another poster said you made a good choice staying away from Deck 6. The first generation Voyager Class ships had the balconies build into the super structure and the bottom of the railing is metal. On Deck 6 the lifeboats actually push the metal higher up and interfere with your view below the railing. The first attachment shows it clearly. The picture is from the Adventure but just like the Voyager it belongs to the first generation of Voyager Class ships. The second picture shows you the Navigator hump. You can see the lower portion of the balcony as plexiglass. The second generation of the Voyager Class ships had their balconies attached to the outside of the superstructure.

Now to your location: you won't have any noise trouble from the elevator. There is a separator wall between the elevator lobby and the staterooms.

On a Voyager or Freedom Class ship you definitely want to be near an elevator unless you can grab an aft corner. Then the walk is worth while.

Your advantage is that you are at the elevator which services the theatre, the Schooner Bar, the Sky Bar (which both are my favorites) and the Spa. ;)

If I count the cabins you must be in either 7542 or 7242. Good spots. You will love it. Happy sailings.

:D;)

Does anyone know if deck 10 on RCC Explorer of Seas is below a pool, I was just reading all of these comments and now I'm a little worried about my cabin assignments. That would be a problem if you can't sleep. I have cabin1639. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed on Explorer's deck ten (Rm 1608) in Sept 07. Deck 11 does have pools, etc. (it's their "Lido" deck), but our experience was perfect. Our suite was midship, near the stairs/elevators, which led straight up to the Windjammer Buffet so it was very convenient. I was told when reserving, that the rooms are supposed to be noise proof, but who would believe that?!? Lo, and behold, No noise problem at all, and I ALWAYS have to get my sleep (every little noise usually wakes meicon8.gif)! I worried that I had forgotten to bring earplugs and sleeping pills as I had intended, but they were not necessary at all.
