  1. This lobster was good and tasted like American lobster. I was shocked.
  2. That was the everyday price on my sailing but gala night it was free
  3. That’s interesting, last month it was free and it was good. I have never been a fan of HAL lobster but DH asked the waiter to bring me one because it was so good. Maybe it is a supply chain issue. There are also new regulations governing lobstering in the US, this could also be having an impact. https://www.nhpr.org/2022-06-07/breakable-lines-remote-control-traps-maine-lobstermen-grapple-with-an-onslaught-of-new-rules
  4. It was actually some of the best lobster I have ever had on HAL
  5. I had it twice for free in May. Perhaps it is only for longer voyages.
  6. I think ArriveCan is a requirement of the Canadian government. You won’t need it until you are ready to enter Canada.
  7. We use the laundry bag instead of the daily fee. We can fit a weeks worth of clothes in those if tightly rolled. All for $20. I usually pack for 9 to 10 days and do laundry every 8 to 9 days. That would be $60 to $80 on a 35 day cruise. For this cruise, which I will be taking in 2024 I would back exceptionally light as it is 100% tropical. I do believe the roll call is already up and running be ready to relax, read, spa out, binge tv. I enjoy it all. Find the sauna, it is always vacant in my experience It is also my DH’s wishlist cruise. I am sorry for your loss
  8. I have a pack of them in my luggage as backup should the laundry not get back in time. Eh, so so. I would not wear them daily.
  9. My pharmacist agreed with your doctor. I find Pharmacist usually more up to date on drug matters. Anyway she said it mattered not one iota so I chose to switch to Pfizer as I had had severe reactions to Moderna each time. I did have a reaction with Pfizer but much less severe
  10. HAL has had the option to drop testing for months except in Canada where it is a mandated program not voluntary. I think some of the Caribbean islands also have a mandated program
  11. I see where my confusion came in. You are both right. Half way through the review the guys started mucking around with files and someone posted a gala menu but it wasn’t actually related to the cruise. we had a full gala dinner twice on our 21 day sailing last month
  12. I so agree with this. There are better options on the standard, mass market itineraries. I am sorry you didn’t like the food and I am really surprised there were no seafood entrees. I usually eat seafood on HAL 5 out of 7 nights. Maybe you missed gala night as they do serve lobster, escargot and the other gala menu items. As a matter of fact another passenger on your same itinerary last week posted a copy of the menu showing those items. I am glad you had a lovely time nonetheless and what you describe entertainment wise is about what I would expect. HAL is definitely a different product than Carnival, Norwegian or Royal which I like too.
  13. Why? So you would have the gift of gab. I think it worked for me😊. I did it years ago and there were no lines but yes I would not stand in line for that. Actually I most enjoyed the grounds around the castle.
  14. Thank goodness you saved the trip. I am glad to hear Carnival stepped up. The days of online only agencies may be behind us, so many people just didn’t come back to work after the shut down. I hope you have a wonderful trip.
  15. @Sebbiesgrammy how far in advance did they give you notice? I just reread and you indicated less than 2 weeks. That is unacceptable. Are they giving you compensation?
  16. Ok, I guess I have to do the footwork so we don’t have to argue. Here are the links to lodges https://www.princesslodges.com/ https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/cruise-destinations/alaska-cruises/alaska-land-sea-journey-cruise-tours/denali-square.html
  17. I agree. When I first read the review embedded in Hank’s post I chuckled. We were on that same cruise plus had sailed on the NS from Florida. Everyone sails for different reasons and those reasons will bias their review. I simply needed to get to Europe and for less than the cost of a first class airline ticket I got a 3 week cruise. I was, overall, a happy camper.
  18. Princess has numerous Alaska lodges in the Denali vicinity
  19. I do not recall which of Princess’s lodges were closed. It was likely one of the ones at a less traveled location. It is not a traveler issue, it is a staffing issue . The Holland lodge announced no more reservations
  20. You can sell odd lots. Anyway I have only kept 100 shares of carnival for OBC and have washed them before. The first shares were bought many, many years ago
  21. The Lodge announced weeks ago that they were taking no more reservations for summer 2022. Princess has closed one of their lodges for the summer, they have a number in different locations throughout the area
  22. I had the same result albeit prior to my cruise. They failed to pay the ticket resulting in cancellation. They reinstated my ticket at a higher price with HAL paying the difference. Also I was insistent that they book me on the same exact flights which cost them a bit more
  23. Creditors can’t do anything unless a payment is missed, that is the law in all of the western world. Whether to spend less than $1000 on a stock purchase for OBC depends on your personal travel plans.
  24. Be warned Schiphol is about to get worse https://onemileatatime.com/news/amsterdam-schiphol-caps-passenger-numbers/
  25. I did a wash of those. I bought the new shares, waited the appropriate amount of time and sold the old shares. Used the loss to offset gains on taxes. I am positioned to do the same thing right now. For me CCL is all about OBC, not an investment
