I think you should cancel too. A shame though as I think you and your family will get hooked on cruising if you did give it a try. As others have said, you don't need to spend much once on board if you don't want to. We rarely go on ship excursions and only go to the speciality restaurants with OBC (on board credit). IMHO cruises are exceptional value for money compared with land based holidays.

We board on the 10th too and stay on for 14 nights 🙂

We are doing the same airports from and to Gatwick this August but in cattle class! We have only ever used Princess booked flights and are obviously happy to do so.

Why not just collect it when you embark the ship? Saves all this faffing around and then the stress of when it will be posted out. We collected ours last time and will do the same this August. Simples!

Hear hear! We also adhere to the suggested dress code on formal nights. I get serious "Brownie" points for dressing up to compliment my wife's attire 🧐

Sorry if this has already been mentioned. Fincantieri will not have wanted the handover to Princess delayed unless it was REALLY necessary, as Princess will have a contract clause with significant compensation payable for such an eventuality. The compensation will match the lost revenue but Princess would likely not want the delay either due to the bad press. Something unforeseen has clearly arisen! Whilst it's unfortunate and upsetting for the inaugural cruisers, the risk of postponement has to be factored in when booking.

I'd avoid the overnight in Istanbul. Been there twice now and seen enough in one day. If it was just a day in port then I'd happily go there again. In fact I am, on Sun Princess this August. The "current situation" would have no bearing on my decision. Istanbul is just as safe as Miami!😂

So long as I can get a Peroni at any ship bar I visit I'll be happy. On my last two cruises (Princess and Celebrity) it became scarce towards the cruise end.

Well I'm very happy with my deck 15 delux balcony cabin some 10 away from the bridge winglets.

Same for us with our August Sun booking. I'm sure we wont starve on board though!

This August for us too, so I'm in no rush either. I'm pretty sure the initial reviews will be mostly negative. New ship classes seem to attract "die-hards" on inaugural cruises who are unable to accept change.

I am puzzled why anyone would book an inaugural cruise on a brand new class of ship if they want certainty of what they are getting. We are on the Sun this August and none of your concerns bother me in the slightest!

Sorry for your frustration. We are on the Sun in August so hopefully initial teething problems will be ironed out by then! If not I will just be extremely grateful to being on a new ship. I fear the early Sun Princess reviews will be full of negative comments. Seems to happen with every new ship class ( I remember Celebrity Edge had awful initial reviews). If you book inaugural cruises I think some slack ought to be given. I sometimes wonder if serial complainers book new ship cruises just so they can be the first to complain!

So glad I live in the UK so have no choice but to collect the medallions at the port. It seems such a palaver ordering the things and creates needless stress for some!

I'm so glad I just have a DB balcony grade cabin for two weeks next August. Other than being Elite I have no upgrades/benefits to get perplexed over 😂

We like it a lot, but only book it on port days when we don't want to get off the ship. It's most deserted those days too (In the Mediterranean anyway). Well worth the money too.

We never disembark a Princess ship without dropping a completed FCD form in the drop box by the Future cruises reservations office
