Well today was a very busy day w picking the hired car up and driving around Funchal to find our bearings lots of one way streets and hill starts Wowzz , husband is doing most of the driving anyway, me being a x driving instructor he takes his driving test every day 😂 even though we got a car still managed to walk 6 miles today, rain this morning then the sun came out and it was hot 22 , changed rooms this morning to a higher floor for views, some pics of the flower market the oldest last been there the longest she is 85 yrs young and I think I saw her 20 years ago when I visited , anyway with her sweet talk I brought some bulbs and bird of paradise seeds from her , we will see if they bloom, the street with the painted doors some of them and dinner tonight, fish soup which I ordered and kindly passed to my husband and Madeira steak which was lovely then onto another place for a couple of ponchos, off tomorrow morning to stand on some glass and look out at the views can’t remember what’s it called sorry il have the correct name tomorrow and then in the afternoon, it’s afternoon tea at Rieds place . Sorry a photo sneaked in from the restaurant last but one , there was two cruise ships in yesterday one was a P&O and I couldn’t see which the other one was , also after we landed yesterday which was a little wobberly the captain said we arrived early because in 10 minutes more we wouldn’t of been able to because of the weather 🫣 just like the cruise ships with their cross winds 😁 .

Thank you very much for everyone’s recommendations over the last few days , we arrived yesterday at 10.50 to a rainy foggy but warm day and as we drove closer to town it was clearer and started to stop raining, didn’t unpack as we were not happy with the room on the first floor not much of a view and we had paid extra for that and to be on the top floor so we have to wait until today we some have checked out and hopefully one will be available. Done a little exploring near the hotel to find out where we get our hired car from and to book a restaurant for last night which was very nice and tried the local poncho drink which was yummy, a few photos not many some of the hotel. Early good morning to you all , yet again not much sleep last night probably a bit of excitement again I’ve got the suitcase packed all up and later tonight we’re off to Madeira (early Monday morning) for 10 days ) other half likes to drive through the night much quieter especially when Gatwick has a traffic diversion that takes you all the way round the other side of airport to get to the other side of the roundabout 🥴 We’re hiring a car for 9 days so going to explore the island all round and going to do a early morning sunrise watch , booked a whale/ dolphin trip, and plenty of those trails on north side on edge of island high up . Wrote down some restaurants that someone gave me on here so any more tips what to do are greatly appreciate, I will be visiting the botanical gardens and go up the chair lift thing can’t remember what’s it called to early in the day but we won’t be coming down in the basket we done that 20 years ago and we will certainly be visiting Blandys winery 😁 . Tried to visit here a few times on the ships last one was Iona last March but you know due to high winds etc couldn’t dock , anyway not long watched YouTube video of a plane trying to land at the airport in cross winds and that looks bleeding dodgey too 🫣, anyway sorry I’ve rambled on just a bit bored this morning, so I hope you will all be well and happy this week and not too cold back here and escape the snow if it comes your way stay warm & safe .

Lovely pictures purplesea it’s one place I would love to visit, I watched a programme the other night about Venice and how they are trying to stop it getting damaged by the rising tides etc with their flood gates that are not working. Glad you enjoyed your holiday.

yes lots of times but I have very good bottle carriers I put in my main luggage brought from Amazon 10 years ago or more, never had a breakage, as Wowzz said they are looking for the important stuff not alcohol ( important to me and wowzz though 😋😂

Thank you so much for taking the time out in your holiday for posting the drinks list which I’m sure many were eager to see including me, I think my husband and myself will be very happy with the choices and will stick to our plus package on our up coming cruise on sky .

I don’t remember what my annual salary was but I was certainly happy taking home £72 clear each month in 1976 working in accountancy, paid my mum £25 a month housekeeping, thought I was rich then 😂

Good morning to you too , I did dose off again for a hour or so , we just had a little rain shower and husband jumped out of bed to bring in the seat cushions, rain wasn’t expected until Friday anyway our cases are packed out for a early afternoon dinner and then to airport for evening flight home and get home for about 2 in the morning so will probably be on here for a wee while 😉 .

Hi Dave I suppose it’s always easier for us ladies to spend some of the on board credit in the fine shops , plenty of nice earrings to choose or watches, I must admit I have a collection of several watches, obviously to go with my different evening dress etc and a really cheap one to go ashore while on a beach , but it started to cost a lot in keeping up with the batteries replacements so my husband brought me a lovely watch on Iona that doesn’t need one and works off my heart beat . On our last cruise I insisted he buy himself something nice , he’s not into watches but liked this floating world ball that rotates around using solar power, anyway I’m sure you’re find some nice expensive wine to enjoy 😉

Why don’t you treat yourself to a new watch then 😉

A early good morning to you all and lots of get well wishes to all who’s feeling under the weather with cold and coughs . We went to Corralejo today for tapas and stopped off along the way to have a walk on the dune sands , weather been hot since Saturday a change from the last 2 chilly rainy weeks, hired car goes back tomorrow and I’m looking forward to getting home on Thursday and start my diet 😂 , I’ve also not been to well and now got a lasting choking cough that will not go away. Have a lovely day everyone.

Yes I am indiana I use to push 2 hours a night but I am achieving at least 5 hours now and sometimes 7 which is amazing for me , anyway up nice and early this morning a cup of tea on the balcony with a much calmer sea and clear sky with sunrise, lovely peace and quiet.

Good morning to you all , I hope your all well and happy and it’s nice to see wowzz back from holiday I was getting worried there for a minute, so wowzz I hope you enjoyed your holiday and graham and Pauline your holiday too , I’m way at the moment to the usual place fuerteventura visiting family only this time in a hotel and not at sisters in laws , big family meet up with her kids so I’m staying out of the way , it’s been very cold out here and I came a little unprepared it’s the wind that bites through, had some sunshine and heat yesterday and got slightly burned in the hot tub , off to some caves today for a hike, have a lovely day everyone. It is a shame the op had a awful time on her weather wise and all but we had a lovely cruise on her in October 19 days , never any problems with buckets or toilets, had mints and fudge with coffee after dinner and we had chocolate on the bed in the morning and liquid soap in bathroom sink , all staff and dining was good we have sailed on her 4 times now and have another 2 booked but I think that will be it for Arcadia as she is showing her age and a few things needs replacing now .jessybell sorry you didn’t enjoy your cruise.

Hopefully your mum improves everyday sue and gets stronger, it’s very difficult at times when you’re still working yourself and your parents are I’ll and they relie on you but you must also take care of yourself .
