  1. I don't know what a โ€cheesy potato straw is, (neither does Google), but this ain't it. And where are the onions and bell peppers? Was it tasty?
  2. A screen grab might be helpful. Is it certain that the popup is from CC?
  3. My rule of thumb is to start with official government web sites. Only then consult cruise line requirements. The later only apply if more restrictive. From https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/western-hemisphere-travel-initiative#:~:text=U.S. citizens can present a valid%3A U.S. Passport%3B Passport Card, maritime business%3B or Form I- I added the bolding. "U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same U.S. port) are able to enter the United States with a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID. Please be aware that you may still be required to present a passport to enter the countries your cruise ship is visiting. Check with your cruise line to ensure you have the appropriate documents." Obviously the last sentence is a misguided assumption that companies are as diligent as the government.
  4. I believe the border crossings have reopened. CNN is reporting that the vehicle was a Bentley with older husband and wife headed to the KISS concert scheduled for tonight in Toronto. They apparently abruptly decided to turn around, perhaps upon hearing the concert was cancelled. Unfortunately it was done at speed, ignoring obstructions. Unknown at this time why vehicle caught fire and exploded.
  5. Just display the list. Pop up your notification list, the Bell icon (on the menu of mobile devices), the unread notifications will display bold. Close the list and reopen, none of the notifications will be bold and the notification count will be zeroed.
  6. It really comes down to the group's tolerance of stress and the financial consequences should something go wrong. Personally, I have a very low stress tolerance. I have taken a late evening flight rather than risk one that requires me to carry my luggage off and hope the various choke points are not overwhelmed. But I grew up waiting in airports and don't have a great deal of difficulty waiting. ๐Ÿ™‚
  7. If the post is in a roll call you need to be logged in. The item may have been removed.
  8. A roll call is nothing more than a special thread. Those following a roll call will get notified when new posts appear. To follow a thread (roll call) click on the Follow link, on mobile devices below posts on the left.
  9. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ You forgot to add at 4am. Rarely is there even a short wait during the day.
  10. Because never in American history have large corporations unfairly exploited those that needed work. ๐Ÿ™„
  11. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Let's see if I understand the logic. Pay the US$18 / day or cruises will become unaffordable? Illogical. Or is the argument that we should take advantage of employees so that our cruises cost less? Immoral.
  12. That is akin to saying that cruise passengers have no costs over the fare. As the subject of this thread indicates, clearly not accurate. Are staff provided with off duty clothing, luggage, toiletries, grooming, entertainment, legal services, communications with family, personal computing and communication devices at no charge? Just a few things we all include in our lives.
  13. That is a difficult question. Perhaps some calculation based on the ports of calland. Taking into account included accommodation, meals, and medical. While a number of living costs are included in living aboard, not all are and staff do go ashore, have expenses while travelling to/from an assignment, etc. I have to wonder why service charges keep going up if staff are so well paid?
  14. An absolutely ridiculous assertion. Many people work in jobs that treat them unfairly and pay them poorly. To argue otherwise denies reality. Are these employees working in their native country? The suggestion that living wage should be gauged by the standards of their country of origin is obviously flawed. Their cost of living bears no relation to that location.
  15. Not according to the post I was responding to. Can you provide objective data to backup your claim?
  16. Hard working people deserve a living wage. Why are you suggesting instead that it is the moral duty of customers to make up for corporate deficiencies?
  17. What the letter should have said: Dear Guest, We are excited to welcome you onboard for your upcoming Royal Caribbean sailing! As you prepare to set sail, we wanted to notify you of an update to our daily gratuity charges. Since we don't pay our onboard staff a living wage and have started having real problems attracting employees it's up to you to bail us out. As of November . . . We thank you for your understanding and canโ€™t wait to welcome you onboard! Sincerely,
  18. Cutbacks? ๐Ÿ™‚ According to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pasta Fettuccini is about 6.5 mm (~ยผ") wide. Linguine is flattened spaghetti. Someone in the kitchen appears to be pasta challenged.
  19. You can probably send help@cruisecritic.com an email citing your username and old email address. Explain your need to change the email on file and provide the new address.
  20. As I wrote that post I was thinking about the Great Painkiller Expedition. Would not have been nearly as much fun I suspect. ๐Ÿ™‚
  21. Increasing compression level of stockings may help. Take alcohol neat or with water / ice. Drink mixes, sodas, etc. have very high sodium levels.
  22. Depending on the plan, one can usually use the phone as a wifi hot spot. It's should be fine for a couple of devices.
