  1. Yes...I have. Since the Pearl falls under Jovo (Regional VP of Fleet Hotel Operations), I sent him a direct email asking whether this report was accurate. His reply: I have verified your query with fleet beverage manager and was told we offer full array of shots as normal. Not sure who and why said otherwise. GM is on it. So, like with many things "reported" on CC, I'm going to call BS on this one.
  2. Why would that make any difference? $4 cost + $1 gratuity = $5 total VS $5 cost including gratuity Either way, you pay the same.
  3. There are a number of things that are not found in those places...interesting, though, that what you noticed was "bar". 🤔
  4. Don't be difficult... 3) Pay the DSC AND tip the staff throughout the week in cash totaling $140. Easy-peasy
  5. This would be more believable if passengers were just as interested in how their, fare, port fees, taxes, shop purchases, casino losses, shore excursion purchases, photo purchases, etc as much as they seem to be about where the gratuity goes. Ultimately, this topic is nothing more than people trying to apply spin so that they can justify NOT paying their service charge.
  6. Your source may have just posted this, but this news was out two weeks ago.. https://www.seatrade-cruise.com/shipbuilding-refurb-equipment/supply-chain-issues-delay-ncls-third-and-fourth-prima-class-ships
  7. FWIW, unlike some of their competition, NCL does not simply change the date and reuse Freestyle Dailies from one cruise to the next. Management feels that doing so would make the days routine and repetitive for the crew and that they perform best when their is somewhat of a variety. If your interest is to find out the "types of activities" offered, then you can simply review any Dailies from any NCL ship as the activity types are similar fleet-wide.
  8. It isn't fine print....that's a lame argument and you're better than that. Still...what marketing and some TAs call it has no bearing on what is is and how it's distributed.
  9. Actually wall they refer to it as doesn't matter...NCL specifically states that the service charge supports salary and incentive programs.
  10. If you give them a gratuity, then yes, they get to keep it. However, what you are referring to is a service charge...which differs from a gratuity. The service charge goes to the company who then uses it to support their salary and incentive programs.
  11. Yes, of course. Remember that menus only exist to offer suggestions to those who might not be able to quickly decide...they are not a limiting list on what you can get at the bar. IOW, "rum & coke" doesn't have to be on a menu for a bar to be able to serve it to you.
  12. Here is the breakdown: Spirit Sky Sun Dawn (2) Star Pride of America (2) Jewel (2) Jade Pearl (4) Gem Epic (2) Breakaway (2) Getaway (2) Escape (2) Joy Bliss Encore (Booked) Prima (Booked) Viva (Booked)
  13. What about scolding other members on Cruise Critic? Is there a need for that? So you felt @YVRteacher's comments were snarky, but they thought they were important enough to share.
  14. Yes, but you may have to wait longer until a table is available in their section.
  15. The terms and conditions are always available for any offer...and everyone should either review them personally, or go over them with their booking agent, before making their booking. The bottom line is each guest should know what they are booking before making the deposit. It really doesn't matter "when" a change was made...only that it was made.
  16. Every ship in NCL's current fleet except for Encore and Prima...both of which are booked and past final payment.
  17. You will get an email notification and they will also send you an Amenity Invoice which will show the OBC.
  18. The real funny thing is that this has been discussed since 2014, as this 2016 thread shows: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2233911-breakaway-elevator-questions/ Given his propensity for the trivial, I'm surprised that the OP never noticed this until now. I wonder if he realizes that the layout of the two forward banks is different from the layout of the two aft banks or if we'll be treated to another thread when he figures it out?
  19. You actually waste everyone's time pushing both banks...then one elevator takes you while the other has to stop for nothing at the annoyance of everyone onboard.
  20. What is really strange is that a Google search shows that it is being reported that this happened on October 26th, yet no report of this was made on any news site until just yesterday. Why the delay in reporting. As of now, Jim Walker still has not reported this on his site and he ALWAYS covers people overboard from ships.
  21. Yes...and you can agree that the environment has drastically improved since the towel animals went extinct. Just have to hope that Ingen isn't working to infuse towel dna with that of tree frogs in a misguided attempt to bring them back.
  22. A hurricane or some other unforeseen occurrence? Why would NCL have to provide compensation? Isn't that really a description of exactly what travel insurance would cover?
  23. Had this problem recently and spoke with technical support. NCL has always allowed us to use either a userid or our email address for the MyNCL login. They are moving everyone to just use the email address only...without notifying anyone when this is done. 😕 If you are experiencing login issues, try using your email address (no change to the password) instead. If that fails, call their tech support line: 866.625.1160 (note that they are a M-F 9am-6pm operation)
