  1. We did a Hurtigruten Norwegian coastal cruise a few years ago. On the Lofoten, now retired. 100 pax! Loved it so much.
  2. And us a few years ago in Antarctica. Temps in 40s/50s and we were wearing shorts. Right?
  3. edit: don't fall in love....
  4. Oh, I believe nowadays anyone can use their banking services. We have a small account that we use when traveling. Any ATM fees are reimbursed up to a certain amount every month. We've used that for maybe ten year (after our daughter told us!). But for sixty years we've used their insurance company for everything we've ever insured. Houses, cars, you name it. Only available to military, former military, wives and children are eligible. I won't bore you with details but when we've had a claim we've never even seen an adjuster.
  5. Sorry, I'm not making the connection here.
  6. Thanks so much for taking the time and energy to write this. We only recently bought trip insurance for the first time. Obviously there are lots and lots of choices and I know nothing about any of them. But I DO know that our main carrier for 60 years is USAA (is it okay that that write that?). And, sure, I know that they aren't THE carrier for this. But what I believe is that they would never do business with any company that wasn't up to their standards. (His choice of USAA was because of his military service 60 years ago.)
  7. Oh, no doubt. I have a long standing personal policy: don't fall in something before I know the price. RL IS beautiful.
  8. I also. I've never seen one like the latter.
  9. Not trying to compare but I was hospitalized recently and it was exactly the same. And I LOVED it! I hate waste. So yes ordered butter, salt, pepper, etc. And thanked them.
  10. That photo is one of OUR meals at home. A chef friend suggested grilled peaches, in season, and that is wonderful. I'm with you re 'the real thing.' And here in Seattle we actually have a place that sell whole lobes and other ways frozen.
  11. Thank you. That's 100% my belief. It could be THE most wonderful ship and the greatest fare but if it's not on my 'wish list,'of destinations I wouldn't go there regardless.
  12. And I believe that Hurtigruten has done this or is well along in the process.
  13. One of my favorite dishes is seared foie gras. They had a couple of dishes where they were cooked with 'something' and then put in pastry. Someone suggested to me to politely ask if I could have it my fave way. No problem.
  14. And let's face it. In the long term this isn't even close to world peace.
  15. And if you choose anger/rudeness, then I don't believe of the subject of that is going to go out of their way to go out of their way for the rest of the trip. I have a wicked temper but keep it under control just in case it help me in the long run.
  16. Oh definitely. I should have been more precise. I look at local sites.
  17. Thanks for that link. I'll also add that some cruise ships offer shuttles and they are way, WAY more than the public transit ones.
  18. We're doing a cruise where I won't be doing all escorted tours. I have googled things like "transportation from the cruise terminal city xyz."
  19. Are you from the South? I am and that was certainly true.
  20. I've carried that a step further. I emailed a day or more before arrival, telling them we're getting in early and could we drop off our bags. When we arrived they had a room for us. HOURS ahead of time.
