  1. Immigration in Copenhagen since this is where you're entering Schengen. Customs (a simple green/red hallway to walk down depending on if you have anything to declare) in Athens. This all assumes you are on one (SAS?) ticket where CPH is just a pure connection point, rather than separate tickets where you need to check in again in CPH, which would be a different (and unwise) situation.
  2. Rotterdam is great. But even if it isn't, it's literally like 45-60 minutes on the train from Amsterdam if not less.
  3. I mean, it is the Netherlands, so even a trip to the other side of the country using their excellent transit takes like 45 minutes 😉
  4. I don't wear glasses so I can't help you there, but I still (as recently as a few weeks ago) run in to issues if I haven't shaved in even just a few days, soooo...my recommendation would be to just remove the glasses 🙂
  5. The interesting thing is that Ljubljana, in Slovenia, is actually the same distance by road as Venice. By train is different, and there are better bus connections from Venice to Trieste than from Ljubljana to Trieste...BUT, if someone is hiring a car or arranging a car service, Ljubljana is worth at least a glance if Trieste is the destination (and is a lovely city on its own to visit, and a lovely country). (I know you plan to take a transfer, but for others who plan on making their own way...don't ignore Ljubljana, which has good connections from global hubs like Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, London, Zurich, and Istanbul).
  6. While I am a quite loyal to Hilton, I end up overnighting at DFW a few times each year and I am always, always, always in the Grand Hyatt. Definitely recommended for both convenience and comfort.
  7. You can just buy two tickets in one transaction on their website, no need to have separate transactions. But I do believe you need to have the ability to activate your ticket just before boarding the bus, which would require an Internet connection. So in that case, it might just be best to buy it onboard.
  8. Nope, not a visa. In fact, ETIAS will (whenever it actually start) be quite the opposite...an authorization for people who are visa-exempt. Visas can be complicated and often expensive to get, and ETIAS will be neither. Visas also often live in the passport as a sticker, and ETIAS will not be that. For some places, like Australia, US citizens have had to do it for many years...it's incredibly simple and takes less than a couple of minutes.
  9. Diners and drive-ins, but no dives.
  10. I couldn't name a single one of our cruise directors. We do very, very few activities on the ship...maybe a trivia game once or something like that. But no sail away parties, no pool parties (unless they happen to occur while we're already at the pool), no shows or events. We like to relax and visit the ports, so anything onboard aside from food, drink, pool, and gym kind of go un-used or unnoticed by us. So, the kind of things a CD is responsible for are things we just don't take advantage of. To each their own with provolone, of course.
  11. It gets a bit harder to predict, because sometimes it's the same crew...and sometimes it's not. Heck, sometimes it's the same flight crew but not the same cabin crew, or vice versa. It's fairly common for a crew to come in on an aircraft at, say, 12am, but a different crew (who came in earlier in the day on a different flight) takes it out at 6am, even in outstations like Syracuse.
  12. Why wouldn't you trust JetBlue? That early morning SYR-JFK flight seems to have a very good on-time rating, so while it's always possible to be delayed, the odds are in your favor. I wouldn't have a concern with it, and in fact I often do a 50-60 minute connection at ORD to meet the daytime ORD-LHR flight, so 90 minutes would be a relaxing dream of a connection.
  13. Fellow stargazer here. Cruises on the big ships always end in disappointment as far as stargazing goes, it's just so bright most of the time. I agree with previous comments regarding the best location being as far forward as you can get. But even then, the amount of light pollution coming off ever a mid-size ship is ridiculous at all times of the night. It may be better than living in a major city, but even in Squamish you'll get better views just a few minutes outside of town than you likely will on a cruise ship. I have always been disappointed.
  14. That's kind of my mindset. My wife and I very, very rarely have trips planned more than a month or two out, but occasionally (such as visiting my family in Namibia or hers in Morocco) we are able to plan something 330 days out using miles and we try to grab them as early as possible and then not have to worry or fret about it.
  15. I'll just echo yet again that you will have no issue. If one random AA agent causes a stink, get another one over. They'll see your return flight and it's pretty clear you are within the rules. This definitely isn't an uncommon situation.
  16. It depends...sometimes yes, sometimes no. Also depends on what "ludicrous" is. I just booked the Hyatt Regency in downtown Seattle, which is quite nice, for $225/nt in August. I found that very fair. Pretty much every hotel in Seattle has parking or access to parking, it's just a matter of how much you want to spend (both on the hotel and on parking)
  17. Assuming it's a domestic flight you are looking at, yes, you should be okay with that. The airport is pretty much right next door to the cruise port...pretty much the most convenient airport to cruise port connection in the world.
  18. I would never feel comfortable leaving the country without a passport, personally (minus some circumstances that don't appear to apply to you, such as a Spanish citizen going to Denmark or somewhere else in Schengen, for example). Never.
  19. It's illegal to serve alcohol in the Caribbean without rum punch being on offer
  20. Catering has to come from somewhere
  21. Hey now...I've had some good experiences with TAAG! And one sketchy domestic flight that involved sitting in front of a goat. I am not kidding.
  22. One other option might be to get to Madrid and spend the night to meet up with the SJU flight the next day. There are a lot of decent, affordable hotels in the area around Barajas airport, or (since the SJU flight is later in the day) just head in to Madrid for the night which would open your options for hotels, restaurants, and things to do.
  23. I've flown Singapore a couple of times, but I am an AA/Oneworld frequent flier so I usually get to Singapore on Cathay Pacific or JAL (or sometimes Qantas/BA/Qatar if I'm coming from somewhere else). The Singapore flights that I have flown are all regional (i.e. Jakarta, Bengaluru) and in business class, but were quite lovely with great service and good food.
  24. I don't know, the one time I cleared immigration in Vancouver (versus driving from Seattle, which I usually find myself doing) it was a freakin' nightmare. I was coming from HKG and got dumped off at the same time as flights from every other country in Asia (so it felt) and it took a solid hour to clear with my non-Canadi(a/e)n passport.
