Pretty much removed from all ships once masking was fully removed for crew. There were lots of things under covid protocols that impacted paying passengers. I was responding to Post #1273. In the past there was a small smoking area on Princess Grand Class ships deck 7 starboard side aft just before the promenade went around the stern of the ship. This was a standing area used by both crew and passengers. On Royal Class ships the area was on the starboard side aft promenade deck patio. The entire stern section use for crew smoking was established post covid.

We missed not being able to walk the entire promenade while on the Grand in Mid- September.

We sailed Ruby in December and were able to walk the full Promenade with no "crew smoking closure" on the aft portion. We were quite happy to find this had gone back to how it was in the past. We're looking forward to sailing on Grand Princess out of Australia this coming October/November as we've heard that smoking is not allowed at all on cruises out of Australia.

There's no INSIDE smoking on cruises out of Australia and NZ. There are still the 3 outside pax smoking areas and 3 crew smoking areas (one of which is inside). 1

While we have tried (repeatedly) to sail that area we have repeatedly had our cruises cancelled. Hopefully they will sail this fall. (Seems odd to say the cruises are this fall since, even though they are our fall season they are definitely not the fall season in the sailing area.) US sailings normally have an inside smokers lounge somewhere around the casino. Then there's a smoking section, either at the back or front of the ship, another small area on deck 7 and half the casino.
skynight Posted January 7, 2023 #1388 Share Posted January 7, 2023 " it's located near the main theatre entrance and I doubt if people even realized that there was smoking going on in there. " I have been on the Royal. A very unpleasant stale smell of cigar smoke permeates the port side theater entrance/exit area.

Just a small correction: Sailed Royal in May. Part of the slot machine area is definitely a smoking area and the smoke did "creep out" into the Atrium area. It wasn't as bad as I feared but it definitely was a smoking area and it definitely did impact non-smokers. rome2009 Posted January 26, 2023 #1399 Share Posted January 26, 2023 Just got off Discovery Princess. What a lovely ship. Unfortunately, the smoke escaping from the casino could be inhaled throughout the piazza area on all floors. In adults who do not smoke, secondhand smoke exposure can cause coronary heart disease, stroke, lung cancer, and other diseases. It can also result in premature death. Secondhand smoke can cause adverse reproductive health effects in women, including low birth weight.
Rare PacnGoNow Posted January 27, 2023 #1400 Share Posted January 27, 2023 Why did they do away with no smoking in the casino on formal nights after the restart? Anyone know?
