Lanyards - Yes or No and cruise cards

You should have had paper "Priority Tender" tickets in your cabin.

Maybe they are going to eliminate them and just use the cards. That would be a reason for the suite print.

Mike - we still had the priority tender tickets in December but I was referring to the suite/elite line at the passengers services desk and the line at embarkation where they direct you to the applicable waiting area. The woman in front of me in FLL insisted she was in a suite and the staff directing everyone told her if that was true she had an incorrect card since it didn't say 'suite' and to return to the check in desk. I think she was in a mini suite because she gave the cabin number and I didn't recognize it as an Owners or Penthouse suite number on the Royal. She went and sat in the general area.

I see maybe 10-15% of the people using the lanyards. I don't - I have a special very thin wallet - for cruising only - that carries only my cruise card when I'm aboard ship, and $, cc and passport card when I'm ashore.

So, anyone have any theories as to why Princess now prints "Suite" on your cruise card if you're booked into a suite? There has to be an operational reason. Maybe to help verify you're eligible for priority tendering? Or is your card scanned for that too? I really don't know, but now am very curious.

We always go to the casino and use the lanyard they provide. You just have to ask.

But then again I have never been asked for my cruise card in line at the PSD.

 

I did have a lady tell me last month, "The line starts over here" pointing behind a group of people, to which I just turned the sign around so she could see it said "Suite and Elite Guests" to which she apologized and I responded "no problem, you didn't see the sign"

Very popular cruising out of Australia to wear a lanyard. My card even came pre punched. I wear one for work so wear one for cruising. Probably lose it otherwise or deactivate it with my smart phone.

Yes alot of people wear lanyards but myself I wear a lanyard all school year and don't want to wear one on vacation so I just put it in my pocket. Works for me...

Always wear one. soda sticker is on the card and opening cabin door much easier than fishing for it

40 years of wearing a security pass around my neck and I said never again. Carry mine in a small credit card holder in my pocket with tipping money. If you do wear one make sure it is a breakaway. Saw one person slip, get the lanyard caught and peal a bunch of skin off their neck on a ship once. Also saw the village idiot at work a few years back get to close to the shredder and almost choke himself to death

I use a key chain with a heart and 2 clips. My card gets attached to one clip and the other clip gets hooked on a belt loop, cross body small purse strap, or beach tote....there is usually something with me to attach it to. I used to use a lanyard but find this much more convenient and have used it on my last 3 cruises.

 

2nd cruise I bought stretchy for the key card and wore on my wrist. I like the sounds of the "clip" better due to no pockets. Can you tell me where you found it? (I don't like lanyards as they get in my way).

You can check the website for exactly how many cruises you need for each level. I know for Elite it is 15 cruises or 150 days at sea.:)

Me, too....and it also contains the coffee card.

 

That's what I do too and it works great for me. I do also carry a wristlet with an outside zipper pocket to put it in as I never have pockets.

When embarking/disembarking it may be more convenient to have your cruisecard around your neck on a lanyard, but other than that I carry mine in a small cross body "deck" bag ( with a few other essentials).

All of my shorts, pants, and swim suits have pockets. It's one of the lucky things about being a guy. My mother-in-law wore a lanyard for her cruise card when we took her on a Carnival cruise a couple of years ago. She did not have pockets in all of her outfits. She's also used to wearing a lanyard at her senior living facility.

I was surprised that I didn't have one issue with my card on this last cruise. It happens at least once most of the time.

We always wear lanyards for the convenience. My DH puts his card on a lanyard puts it around his neck then slips the card into his top pocket on his shirt.

I have a plastic sleeve that holds the coffee card which I also put onto the lanyard. I found it stops them from getting scrunched up and ruined by being in a pocket or leaving it in your room when you need it.

We have even had lanyards made up in bulk for our Roll Call group on a couple of cruises. Makes for a good souvenir of the cruise and you can use them again and again.

I don't have pockets in most of my clothes, so I do use a lanyard. I don't want to carry a bag around with me all the time. Before lanyards, we used to take a big safety pin and pin the card to our waistband. LOL. It's so much nicer than losing your card all the time. I'd say there's a low percentage of people who use a lanyard, but you do see plenty of people doing it. I now have an assortment of lanyards. I got a bling one for Christmas, but haven't had a chance to use it yet.

I think it is then used for the Champaign prize drawing. :confused:

I bought a Coach lanyard, discounted on their website. Classes it up a bit. I may never own a Coach purse, but love my Coach necklace!;)

There were some that never brought it.
They won't stop you from entering.

I live in Las Vegas and I have bling lanyards in every color since I get them at the local swap meet for 3.00. I hate carrying a purse and they work great for sea card, coffee card and a few bucks for the casino...........:D

I have never brought the invitation and have only been asked once to see my cruise card.

There was a sign at the entrance to Skywalker's a few weeks back on the Ruby but no one at the entrance to check those entering.
