Planning to go on a cruise for my 30th without the kkds. Always wanted to go on a Disney cruise but they are so expensive. Found an awesome deal for a day cruise to Nassau and castaway cay for 1200. Then started looking and other lines and most of their 3 days are less than half the cost. It's leaving out of port Canaveral ( already bought the flight for this day) so it either 3 day disney on the dream or 3 day on royal Caribbean. Is disney really worth the extra money? Don't really care about the characters sp that's not why I'm going with disney.

IMO, the best way to look at this is comparing the daily cost to what may have been your experience on land travel for business or pleasure.

Think about the cost of a meal: McDonald's for $5 or a 3-4 star restaurant for $50. Motel 6 vs a Grand Hyatt, etc.

That "half the cost" deal generally means "half the something else" as well (e.g., food quality, included amenities etc.)

We've sailed on mass market lines in the past. But, now we prefer premium lines (which, with the right itinerary, included amenities, credits and Ship/TA perks, are not as expensive as one might think).

Disney appears to be at the top end of the mass market lines (Disney corp. generally does things right but always at a premium price). If we were to take our granddaughter with us, Disney would be a viable option. But, since you are going sans children. I suggest you find a great "cruise specialist" TA and check out a premium line like Oceania or Azamara.

For three days I doubt that Disney is worth the extra for adults without children.

I'm assuming that 3 day RCI cruise is on Enchantment. Head to head, any Disney ship would be much nicer than the Enchantment. However, especially without kids, I wouldn't pay more than double to cruise Disney...and especially not for only 3 nights. In this case, I would book the Enchantment. RCI does do a great job maintaining their ships and Enchantment is still a beautiful ship.

I have done Disney, Carnival, Royal and Celebrity.

Disney had the best service and the WORST food outside of the specialty venues. as in I went hungry. I actually spent the entire week either not ordering desert at all or taking one bite and saying 'blech' they do do the best job of keeping adult only areas exactly that.

for the same or cheaper on Royal you can upgrade to a suite and get all those perks.

Now I'm swaying away from the Disney only because we are not going with the kkds and don't think the extra cost justifies stuff that we probably use take advantage of. Now I'm looking into a balcony on royal Caribbean.

Is the enchantment of the seas a good cruise for 30yr old.

Absolutely! It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the newer and bigger RCI ships, but EOS does still have great party venues, nice lounges and a very active pool deck with a live reggae band. In fact, on a 3 night cruise, you'll a lot of people in your age range.

we sailed EN out of Baltimore a few times. she does not have all the bells and whistles of the newer/larger ships but we love her, especially if you go ahead and spring for a GS, the Concierge Lounge alone is worth the extra money.

we are mid 40s and find enough to do without being bored or having to deal with hairy chest contests

We love Disney world (over 25 times ) it is the best in the world of what it is , this is not true in the cruising world.Disney cruise line is good but it is not that much better than the other lines ( and in many not as good) they get a lot more because of there name (good for them they earned it) . If the choice is 3 days on Disney or more on say the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the seas in P.C. That one is easy go R.C.

Is it worth the extra money comparing to Enchantment? No.

But ... ask yourself why you book the DCL cruise and air in the first place? Is it because you WANT to go on a Disney cruise, and then you found what you think is a good deal (in Disney's terms) and so you booked it? How much do you WANT it? Pick the one that you know you won't regret and enjoy it. I don't have an answer for you as I would rather stay home and not going to a 3-night cruise and then fly back.

Day one is the day you sail.

Day three is the day you get back. Usually around 7 am.

Day two is your day on shore at the port.

IMHO. 3 days is not that good. Travel, flight, parking if you drive, maybe a hotel before sail away. Hummm. Just a thought.

The RCCL 3-day Bahamas cruise itinerary shows the day you get back as Day 4 so it's not quite as bad as you describe.

E.g.,:

Day 1 Port Canaveral, Florida

Day 2 Nassau, Bahamas

Day 3 CocoCay, Bahamas

Day 4 Port Canaveral, Florida

I loved everything about the two Disney cruises I went on. Both were on the Fantasy for 7 days. I thought the service was great. I thought the food was great. The shows were wonderful. I really loved all the little details of the ship. It's the only ship I've every been on where I took pictures of the bathroom.

The private island is so much better than any other private island I've encountered.

BTW, cruzinwithkids has been my CC SN for a very long time. When I traveled on the Fantasy it was without my children - just two adults.

Now, is it worth twice as much as another line. I really don't know.

Not sure what type of room you're looking at on DCL for $1200, but for almost exactly that amount my wife and I are in a junior suite on the Enchantment for 4 nights in Sept.

Personally, I couldn't consider DCL unless we were taking a cruise with the kids, and at thier prices, I'd still end up on RCI, I'm sure.

If I were taking a solo cruise, there's no way I would consider Disney, as I would want to relax and NOT deal with a million kids. :)

All opinions are by definition biased. That is the nature of the beast. The trick is to understand your biases.

That said, I am totally biased against anything Disney. Hate Disneyland. Hate Disney movies. Hate the whole Disney empire. So you know what I am going to say - cruise on anything but Disney. Just my admitted biased opinion for what it is worth.

Anything but carnival and ncl. I've done both disney and rccl.

Have you sailed on either? Your post seems to indicate not. If not, how can you knock it if you haven't tried it? Just curious.

I've sailed Disney several times and also Carnival and HAL. I'll take either of the latter, no problem. Haven't been on NCL yet.

Have to smile at the "unbiased opinion" remark since "opinions" by their very nature/definition are biased :). But given the scenario spelled out by the OP, we would quickly recommend booking with RCI. Disney is certainly an excellent cruise line (especially for those traveling with children) but it would be hard to justify paying twice the cost for a couple sans children.
