damiross Posted March 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2016 We have $500 OBC for our cruise next weekend on the Grand Princess. My personalizer shows it has $350 (Shareholder, veteran, and Princess given OBC) for me and $150 (All Princess given) for my wife. Will this be treated at one $500 OBC or does it mean I need to start signing for my wife after she spends her $150? Thanks.

May I ask at what point it showed up on yours Sir?? TIA The Veteran showed up immediately (information carried over from last cruise) The shareholder showed up about 3 or 4 hours after I faxed in the information $150 ($75 per person) showed up as soon as I booked the special. The other $150 (again, $75 each) showed up soon after I asked if I could get OBC for the difference between what I paid and the current cruise fare. damiross Posted March 21, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted March 21, 2016 at the end of the cruise the $500 will come off both cards Just to clarify so I don't end up with any surprises at the end of the cruise, you're saying that if, for example, the DW spent $495 on board and I spent $5 there would be no additional charge because the total OBC for the room is $500. If you set up to receive one bill for your room, then yes, she can spend all 495 and leave you enough for not even a beer!
Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted March 21, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 21, 2016 If you are having all charges for you and your wife go onto the same CC at the end, then yes, it'll act as a combined $500 to come off the bill. If, however, you and your wife register different CCs for charges, the OBC would be split the way you said, $350/150. The answer is Yes. On our last cruise my wife had $350. OBC and I had $475. OBC She charge $580. and I charged $295. Total $875. Princess charged my credit card $50.00. I hope this helps you. Yes ,if you set up a credit card for the onboard account for one of you and then listed the other person as an authorized user. If you set up a different credit card for each of you, then the accounts would not be combined.

JF - retired RRT Posted March 21, 2016 #13 Share Posted March 21, 2016 Also, can OBC from two cabins be combined into one folio? Not positive, since I've never done it...I think if you use the same credit card for both cabins the folio will be combined, just as it is for 2 people in one cabin. The main account will show all charges.

If yourself and your wife are linked to one credit card for payment then both accounts will be netted to a single final amount due. If you are on two separate credit cards, then no, each account will be finalized separately, and neither the charges nor the credits will crossover. Go to purser's desk and request whatever break up of OBC you want. They will allocate it to whatever card you wish.this has often happened when travelling with my daughter, OBC on my account, but I get the guilts and share with her. NavyVeteran Posted March 21, 2016 #16 Share Posted March 21, 2016 Also, can OBC from two cabins be combined into one folio? Check with Passenger Services after you board. I don't think it will do any good to try to check with Princess before boarding. They may not be able to combine the OBC. However, they should be able to transfer charges from one cabin to the other one - which accomplishes the same thing.
4x4bob Posted March 21, 2016 #17 Share Posted March 21, 2016 And, Princess will not wait for you to spend your OBC. Any charges, bingo, bar bills, daily charges for tips, tours, etc will be deducted first from OBC before being added as new charges to your account. cb at sea Posted March 21, 2016 #19 Share Posted March 21, 2016 If you are all on 1 account...it doesn't matter who has the OBC...it's all on the 1 account! So, the 1st $500 you spend will be taken care of by the OBC.
CruiseLurker Posted March 21, 2016 #20 Share Posted March 21, 2016 related question: Can one still "cash out" any OBC at the casino? I have always liked to get cash for ports this way, but it has been over two years since I cruised Princess.

I have always liked to get cash for ports this way, but it has been over two years since I cruised Princess. Play a slot machine by entering your cruise card for say $40. The $40 will post as a casino charge in your on board folio. Play a little, then cash out your card at the casino cashier, and receive whatever cash remains from the slot play. That's what we have - one credit card for the cabin. I remember indicating that my wife can use my credit card on board when I made the reservation. Rare Shelly97060 Posted March 22, 2016 #23 Share Posted March 22, 2016 Also, can OBC from two cabins be combined into one folio? Yes, as long the charges are all linked to a single credit card. if you use the Princess at Sea app you ( the credit card owner) will see everyone's charges along with the total owed. At the beginning of the cruise you will have a negative balance that equals all the combined OBC. As the cruise progresses the OBC is used without regard to who in your party is charging against it. Hope this is helpful.
caribill Posted March 22, 2016 #24 Share Posted March 22, 2016 Yes, as long the charges are all linked to a single credit card. if you use the Princess at Sea app you ( the credit card owner) will see everyone's charges along with the total owed. At the beginning of the cruise you will have a negative balance that equals all the combined OBC. As the cruise progresses the OBC is used without regard to who in your party is charging against it. Each person has a separate onboard account and thus each person will have the OBC listed only on his/her account. If two people in the same cabin have a single credit card holder with permission for the other person to have their account linked to it, then you will also be shown a total of what is owed for the two accounts which in effect combines the OBC. I have no experience with accounts for two separate cabins. If when setting up your credit card for your cabin it allows you to link the charges for the persons in the other cabin to your credit card, then it would appear the total for both cabins would be combined. But if you need to set up a credit card when doing the personalizer for the other cabin, it would appear, at least before the cruise, the accounts are not linked even if the same credit card is used for both cabins. Possibly in the latter case you can work with the Purser's desk to have the accounts for the two cabins linked.
