Orator Posted April 12, 2017 #51 Share Posted April 12, 2017 "over the Hill" ships normally wind up with Thompson. Some of the "in the know" crew on Connie told me in December that they felt that one of the first two Edge Class ships would be taking over the Connie schedule. There were no whispers of a possible sale. See you and Joanne soon.

Those ships are still probably too large for Venice and that is the ship Celebrity uses now for cruises beginning and ending in Venice.
cruise47 Posted April 12, 2017 #53 Share Posted April 12, 2017 We still miss The Century and Zenith. The service and food on those ships were truly Excellent.
benjaminhuf Posted April 12, 2017 #54 Share Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) I know what you mean about the Zenith. We sailed her 8 times and docking in Hamilton and then sailing over to St. Georges was always great. really do miss the smaller ships. Just booked Summit for June 18, our 6th time on her. Been on the Constellation also, so I feel your pain. Viking Star and her sister ships are about the same size as the former Celebrity Zenith. A more expensive line, but actually when you factor in what's included in the fare with Viking Ocean it's closer than I thought it would be. As you probably know, the Zenith is still sailing for Pullmantur Cruises (in case you want to brush up on your Spanish!) cruisin lady ca Posted April 13, 2017 #56 Share Posted April 13, 2017 Was looking around and found what looks like two M-Class ships for sale. Not totally surprising with the new Edge class coming onboard soon. Or maybe Celebrity is just seeing if there is any interest? I'm sure someone can figure out which ships they are. http://www.qpsships.com/copy-of-casino-cruise-ship-s2504 http://www.qpsships.com/copy-of-s2348-cruise-ship Summit (inaugural date 2001) and Constellation (inaugural date 2002) match with dates on list

There were no whispers of a possible sale. See you and Joanne soon. If this is the case, what do you think would happen with those booked on Connie if she were sold before the booked cruise? Would we be given first choice of cabins on Edge since the layout of the ship will be different and since some of us booked way in advance to get the cabins we wanted
pspercy Posted April 13, 2017 #58 Share Posted April 13, 2017 May or may not be relevant but I noticed that after several years, Infinity will be no longer going 'round the Horn after 2017/2018 season. She is being replaced by Eclipse.
pspercy Posted April 13, 2017 #59 Share Posted April 13, 2017 Does make you think twice about booking any M class sailing too far in advance, especially if you're fixed to certain dates. Hmm, I wonder if October 2018 is too far in advance:eek:;)
cruisin lady ca Posted April 13, 2017 #60 Share Posted April 13, 2017 Summit (inaugural date 2001) and Constellation (inaugural date 2002) match with dates on list Infinity could be one of the ships on the list - inaugural date 2011 and refurbishment in 2015 matches the info for one of the ships. (I may have confused Infinity and Summit in the course of navigating from one window to the other.)

Hopefully, no sale will go through that quickly - if it does, we'd be well and truly stuffed :o. We are booked for Barcelona to Rome in October this year. Flights and hotels for 3 nights at each end are all paid for. Have been planning this cruise for a while so we will be very disappointed if it doesn't go ahead. jabrown40 Posted April 13, 2017 #65 Share Posted April 13, 2017 This is so disheartening. The Venice Greek Isles itinerary is a bucket list trip for me, and after an entire weekend of getting great replies to my Celebrity vrs. Viking post, I finally chose to stick with Celebrity in August 2018 due to the 10 day itinerary, and stop in Santorini. Now seriously considering Oceania instead, I just can't stand the thought of a last minute cancellation, and my work schedule doesn't really allow for last minute changes. Our fav of the M class Descrip of ship # 2 says last refurb was 2015..anyone know refurb dates? Hoping it is NOT the Infinity...we are booked for Oct 2017, just purchased air, booked pre-cruise hotel etc. If it's Infin we stand a chance of cancellation or worse yet being dangled along as they did with Infin the year they rented it out and wiped out a number of cruises including ours.. If anyone can firmly ID ships it would be helpful to those booking or planning to book those M class ships. Thanks to O P for the heads up... ForeverAtSea Posted April 14, 2017 #69 Share Posted April 14, 2017 I think you'll be safe. Don't see ships being pulled out of service before new builds are cruising. New builds might be picking up the replaced M Class routes. If one is lucky they might be switched to a new build at no additional charge. As I've said previously: Connie will entering dry dock in May for a major refit. New Movie are will be added. Qsine will replace Ocean Liners. Some cabins may be added. I just can't see Celebrity spending all that time and money if they can't recover it. From your lips to God's ears.....we have a 15-night "Best of India and Sri Lanka" booked for Feb. 2018 as part of a B2B2B2B, and if they pull the Connie, I'd love to sail that itinerary on a new build. There is no new ship before autumn 2018 and even if you all really believe that ships for sale are advertised this way by Royal or Celebrity (and not by an independent broker who tries to initiate a deal without beeing hired by the owner!) a handover would not happen before Spring 2019. Please look at sale and handover of Legend and Splendor of the Seas and Mein Schiff 1 and 2 to Thompson. All done without internet advertising and handed over about two years after anouncement. No worries! Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Longboysfan Posted April 14, 2017 #71 Share Posted April 14, 2017 Ugh. Connie's my favourite. I still miss Horizon and Zenith. I wish they would add smaller ships. I know they won't, and I know why, but I miss them. Remember docking in Hamilton and St. George's? Yes. Many cruises on Horizon and Zenith out to Bermuda. :D
upwarduk Posted April 14, 2017 #72 Share Posted April 14, 2017 Yes. Many cruises on Horizon and Zenith out to Bermuda. :D The smaller ships are confined to the Azamara arm of RCCL. I would go again if only I won the lottery!

We actually booked a cruise early last May (whilst onboard Ovation) which should have taken place next month on Legend. Within a few weeks of booking the cruise was showing sold out and after a number of emails and denials that the ship had been sold - and despite seeing an announcement in late May that it would be sold to Tui - we finally received a letter confirming the sale at the beginning of June. The ship was recently handed over to Tui, so that's less than a year from the sale announcement to the handover.
