I just booked today!! We are on Serenade of the Seas 10/8. I booked Oli's Trolley 4 hour Acacia National Park tour. In Halifax, we are doing Taste of Hallifax "Eat Hallifax" tour. Got both ideas from Trip Advisor

It would be a shame to visit Bar Harbor and not see Acadia National Park. The one way Loop Road alone is spectacular, not to mention the view from the top of Cadillac Mountain. Bar Harbor itself is quite commercial, lots of shopping and places to eat. I say do Oli's Trolley to see the best part of that port.

Anyone use a private excursion/tour company in Bar Harbor or Halifax?

Sailing to New England/Canada week of Sept 23.

Thanks,

RonniLJ

If you're sailing on the Crown Princess drop into the Roll Call. It's small but friendly.

Acadia National Park, as recommended by others, is a must do (along with lobster rolls :D - we enjoyed the Side Street Cafe) in Bar Harbor. In Halifax we (group of 4) rented a car and drove out to Peggy's Cove (lovely scenery) and stopped at the cemetery with the graves of the Titanic victims on the way back into town. After returning the car we had a nice lunch downtown and still had time to visit the maritime museum. We were in Halifax on a Sunday and the driving was very easy.

We did the same with a rental car in Halifax. Great day and moved at our pace. Also cheaper than tour

Acadia National Park loop road is an excellent trip. We have done it many times while camping in the park. Take a look at this site. There is a bus service offered by the NPS.

https://www.acadianationalpark.com/transportation/public_transportation.php

The bus service is free but does not include any narration and it does not go to the top of Cadillac Mountain. For first-time visitors to Acadia, I recommend a guided tour like Ollie's.

We took the Canada/New England cruisetour last October. It was beautiful. We used a private tour with Halifax Cruises Ship Taxi Tours; Wentto Peggy’s Cove lighthouse, lots of rocks, bagpiper.

Wholelobster for lunch at Ryer Lobsters Ltd.

Stoppedat maple store for souvenirs

Wentto the Fairview Cemetery to view the Titanic graves, impressive

Citytour

Wewere dropped off a mile from the ship; walked back on the boardwalk to ship, stopping for ice cream.

For Bar Harbor we did a 9am private tour with At Your Service Taxi and Tours.

12people on 14 passenger van

Weathercold, drizzling

Rodearound town

Wentto Acadia National Park & Cadillac mountain, nice views, nice color; rainmoving in fast; Rodearound looked at scenery; Wentto Jordan Pond garden, lovely.

Lunch:lobster roll at Beal’s Lobster Pier, very good

Droppedoff by ship because of rain

Nicelooking town

We enjoyed the tour in spite of the weather (you can't help that).

We joined tours set up by other people from our roll call. It was a good experience. I recommend both of these tour companies.

Hi,

Went to both places last year and used http://barharborcoastalcab.com/index.html with Woody and had a great time. He dropped us off so we could walk some of the coastal path and picked us up when we had enough and showed us the sights including the top of Cadillac Mt.

For next stop we used http://www.halifaxtaxitours.com/ for a trip to Peggy's Cove and the surrounding area but you can plan your own tour with them.

David
