When we lived in Wollongong, 72 to 76, there were some great pie shops like Guests. The gong was working mans country back then.

Yes it is a shame Guests totally went and Flemings Cakes in Thirroul changed hands - it took a while but they are doing ok now. Good takeaway coffee also.

My brother in law and sister in law have lived in Ocean St, Thirroul for 45 yrs, nice area.

It has been great however we have 4 sets of traffic lights, a big housing estate with only one entrance and it gets priority on the traffic lights - it can take up to 10 mins to get onto the highway because of lights - now transport dept think best to get rid of our parking. They stuffed it taking out roundabouts and putting in lights.

And all those weekend Sydney tourists coming off the SeaCliff Bridge, grid lock.

What part of the Gong are you in?

Thirroul. The traffic is 7 days a week but good at present with the lock down.

I lived in Church St, Wollongong then Mt Warrigal, 72-76.

 

Re Thirroul, I remember ye olde Thirroul Leagues Club and Thirroul RSL.
