Yet more on the Classics Drink Package.

I have acquired a taste for it, but I certainly can drink something else, and usually do;) It's a bit easier to drink Guinness if you live somewhere freezing cold (like Scotland):D

”extra cold” Guiness is my drink of choice no matter the weather! One of the benefits of “freezing Scotland” is you can leave your beer outside to chill! Not recommended in Glasgow though!

I pulled it from the website.

https://www.celebritycruises.com/things-to-do-onboard/onboard-packages/beverage-packages/premium-classic-and-standard

Click the "learn more" button and it will bring up the whole list.

Thank you. For some reason when I click on the link it takes to .co.uk, rather then '.com' every time and the list definitely isn't displayed in the same way (ie showing the brands).

Beer snob here...we never go on cruise expecting "good" beer. We always steer people towards La Fin du Monde. It is a beer from Quebec. A triple style Belgium golden ale. It scored about a 4.3/5 on beer advocate. 9% ABV so be careful. They usually run out of it pretty early on so try at the beginning of your trip

At the very bottom of the Celebrity webpage you should find a drop down list of countries. Your page probably shows UK, so change it to UNITED STATES. Close the tab, then click on the link again and you'll be taken to the .com version. Changing countries like this can be useful for other things too. For example, if you want to see the price of booking a cruise through a US travel agency.

I see that TFLG has posted the list now, but keep this tip in mind for the future.

thanks I drink Heineken and Corona so all good :p

it looks like there is a Prosecco on the classic package so wife will be thrilled too

We just returned from the Eclipse and we both initially had Classic packages. DH likes to try the higher end wines and bourbons, so for $10/day, we upgraded his to Premium. This worked out great for him and he had everything he wanted to try/drink. I am a Prosecco fan, and the Prosecco they pour onboard was very nice, so I was happy with that for 14 days. The classic pkg also provides some nice selections for spirits, and the Don Julio Blanco was perfect for tequila sunrises.....I wish we were still onboard.....

Sorry - I didn't mean to offend Guiness drinkers! - yes, it is an acquired taste... but I just don't like it really.

does anyone know what cocktails (if any) are available on the Classic package?

Just about everything except a few fancy ones at the World Class Bar and the ships own specialty cocktails in the Sky Lounge, Sunset bar and specialty dining will cost you extra. You can't get Martinis at the martini bar without a few dollars upcharge. All you standard cocktails are included like Gin and Tonic, Margarita, Mohito, Mules, Pina Colada, Mudslide, Daiquiris, etc. Meet us by the pool and we can try them all;p

There is a board on this site, where a very nice person has compiled a list of the drinks and what package they are available in. I have gone to the X web site and found the list by doing a search.:halo:

Maybe Celebrity needs to follow Norwegian's lead and just have one category of drink package. I recently sailed on NCL, won't do it again, but liked the fact that there was no distinction in their drink package. It covered almost everything and there was seldom a drink that required one to pay the difference. As for your current situation, I can imagine it is very frustrating. The only time I ever had the classic package, I used an OBC to immediately upgrade because I didn't want the hassle. All that aside, I hope you enjoy your cruise!

Christina

I hope they don't follow Norwegian's lead. When you get a "free" beverage package as a perk on NCL, you have to pay 20% gratuity on the value of the "free" package. (At $89 a day, and 20% gratuity, it costs an extra $17.80 per day for the free package on NCL.) At least Celebrity doesn't make you pay the gratuity on their perk.

For the cost of NCL's gratuity, you can upgrade to the premium package on Celebrity and still have money left over.

I am also disappointed that my two favorite coffee drinks (Aspen and French Kiss) are no longer included in the classic package. I won't upgrade for that - I will just pay the extra $1.18 when I want those since I won't have more than one a day. It's just annoying to have to start dealing with signing and checking receipts - since that was one of our favorite parts of having a beverage package.

My understanding was that in the past if you had the Classic Package and ordered a drink beyond the limit, you paid the whole price, but if you had the Premium package, you only paid the difference. I have seen several references in this thread to paying the difference with the Classic package. Have the rules changed?

Yes it changed about a year ago to allow those with Classic Beverage Package to pay the difference between the allowance and actual drink cost + 18%.

We were on the Norwegian Sun about a year ago around the Horn and had a free beverage package. We did not get charged the gratuity.

Can you provide a list of the drinks that you previously enjoyed in the classic package that are no longer included?

It would seem the fact that you can now enjoy any drink by only paying the difference would be a significant improvement in value.

No canned cola (only fountain - although at least one ship as of December had not switched over), Baileys

We have the premium package on our upcoming cruise in March. Looking at the list of vodka's, I'm not seeing Tito's. Is this offered?

Yes...Tito's is definitely covered by the premium package....actually, I think it's covered under the classic package as well, but not sure.

I actually like Celebrity’s approach to drink packages. I like having options so each of us can choose the best fit for our individual tastes.

Agree..everything we need is on the Classic which we take as a perk.

An occasional splurge is a small upcharge,

A one price package would be more expensive to buy and probably not offered as a perk choice.

Hope Celeb does not copy Norwegian, for anything!

Yep. Neither of those are listed on the current Eclipse Classic package.

Even the Princess’s Premium package does not included can soda.

Sometimes you get cans, sometimes you don't. They are not very consistent even on the same ship. I've had bartenders give me a can at one bar and at another they won't. The bar at the entrance to the buffet is where I have the most success getting a can.

It may depend on how you get the "free" beverage package.

We booked through NCL and took it as a perk. We had to pay the gratuity. When I asked about it, and checked on CC, it appeared to be the norm to have to pay the gratuity even if the package was free.
