Amenity change on Nov 1, 2019

Don’t understand the early disembark benefits? Currently, disembarkation is probably the most disorganized portion of the cruise. People start lining up, regardless of their priority color codes to get off, often 30 minutes before docking. The CF becomes even worse with all the people that insist upon disembarking with all their luggage. Oceania is currently ineffective in managing its current priorities system, so not sure how they will over lay any new priority system atop the current system. May look better on paper than in practice.

Yes, I'll agree that it always tends to be a mess. Why can't people follow the instructions?

HI I agree with everyone. It is very unfair to downgrade perks for each club level above blue as we are the most loyal cruisers. What is worse is calling downgrades enhancements to make it appear that this is a better deal. No way! There is only reductions unless they keep the old perks for those who have been getting the better perks.

I agree. I think grandfathering should be employed, at least so that no one experiences a reduction in earned benefits.

O is still our favorite, regardless.

Agree! By definition, to enhance something is to improve the quality or value. It is difficult to see how losing two spa treatments and $100 in OBC can be seen as such!

Is the Canyon Ranch Spa owned and operated by Oceania or is it a vendor that "rents" space on O's ships?

The spa (Canyon Ranch), shops (Harding Bros.), and the casino are separate entities. Even the hotel services are provided by Apollo Management, a private equity firm and the largest institutional NCLH shareholder.

Could it be possible that the owner of Canyon Ranch isn't reaping the benefits they once were and have decided to simply eliminate the free perks?

I could be wrong but I think the casino is now under the NCL umbrella.

The "enhancement" here seems to apply to NCHL's bottom line ... not to any passenger benefits. (n)

I agree with you too.....whatever level someone has attained as of Nov. 1, 2019, they should be grandfathered into receiving the benefits from the old amenities at their level. This is the only ethical way to handle it.

Hard to see the word "enhancements" when the benefits are being downgraded. The dictionary definition of the word is: an increase or improvement in quality, value, or extent.

Apart from the website showing the different benefits from November 1st 2019 has anyone found a statement from Oceania regarding these changes?

If you have would you please post a link?

Will reach silver this November and would like to think this level would be grandfathered as they did on previous changes.

Where I come from we call that peeing on your leg and telling you it's raining.

In all fairness it depends on whether the new Platinum perk is "Priority Terminal Check In" as the flyer from the email says or "Terminal Check In Upgrade" as the Oceania website says.

If you get an upgrade in room at the terminal that would be an enhancement.

If one reads a different thread , free internet for all is now becoming the standard. I’ve always gotten free “unlimited “ internet on all my cruises. Interesting that they are showing internet discounts as a perk! A discount from free. Maybe a discount from $9.99/ day for those that needs to Skype!

Not the same Apollo. Two different companies with the same name. Just a coincidence. This is the Apollo that does shipboard services

I think we are getting a snow job from Oceania. A lot of double talk but nothing real for us.

I don’t even know what that means! I took it to mean that O would then allow all Platinums and above check in early with the OS,VS, etc, regardless of their own category. We don’t show up now until 2:30-3:00. Getting there early to drag one ‘s belongings around for 2-3 hours isn’t an upgrade to us!

As far as a cabin upgrade, I’ve learned that if you don’t call O immediately when offered an up sell to a PH, it’s normally quickly gone to someone else! Very few cabin upgrades would still be available come Cruise day! Inside to a lower level veranda maybe?

Because they told us so. Took away and did not give us anything in return. Just a lot of double talk. :(:(:(

I totally agree with you. We have four cruises booked with Oceania this year and are disappointed in this change. The way we are handling this issue is moving Oceania to the bottom of our list when we book our future cruises. There are many choices to choose from and we will take advantage of them first.
