yuvraj Posted March 23, 2018 #51 Share Posted March 23, 2018 Countered with another one. The person did say some, no need to get your knickers in a twist. I do remember the scooter lady from my Allure 2013 cruise, she bruised quite a few achilles and knees because she had to be first everwhere. I remember Disney at the turn of the century started renting scooters and people whose only disability is being 200 lbs overweight would rent them. (Putting on abestos underware. We were sitting watching the Main street parade and a guy in a scooter ran over my daughter because he didn't know how to use it. Thank you. I am disabled myself and intention was not to offend or pass judgement. Just sharing my experience just as others do on CC.

Milwaukee Eight Posted March 23, 2018 #53 Share Posted March 23, 2018 Well, she certainly can't claim she didn't know about the no smoking rules. And while it is difficult for her to take the elevator to the smoking area (which I ASSUME is topside aft, we did the Oasis in 2010, but I don't smoke and the wife only did in the casino) I certainly HOPE if the crewmember had an witness and both went to a ship's officer SOMETING would have been done, i.e.- warnings or even fines for the offender, without any punishment for the crewmember. After all, others who do smoke find the proper areas OR don't smoke at all. THEY follow the rules, even if they don't like them. As I said before, I never have smoked and a whiff doesn't bother me BUT that's no the point, the offender broke the policy, because she thought either a) she'd never be caught and after all, she's above such 'petty rules' OR b) Darn the rules, she's paid for this cruise, if others who are offended by her actions, too BAD ! That's their problem. Sad that those smokers don't realize that people who don't like the smell ALSO paid for NOT having smoke around them or smell it. Milwaukee Eight Posted March 23, 2018 #54 Share Posted March 23, 2018 I know what you mean! I've been tooling down the road on my motorcycle when some idiot smoker in front of me has done that. Oh yea my second post for this thread. You ride, that’s cool. SmoothFlying Posted March 23, 2018 #55 Share Posted March 23, 2018 Do you engage in Casino play and smoke or do you just smoke in the Casino? Sent from my iPhone using Forums LOL !! I've NEVER even taken a puff off a cigarette OR been in a ship's casino, except too have to walk through one, to get to the other side ( and after many trips to Vegas, I found I wasn't interested in the gambling aspect, however I did LOVE the city and enjoyed 'people watching' in the casino. That being said,..IF I did go into a ship's casino I'd almost have too take up smoking ! My GOODNESS ! I'd have to have an unlimited air tank to stay in most cruise line casinos ! They remind me of those enclosed foggy smoking rooms I'd see at most airports ! When my wife quit smoking 3-4 years ago, she mentioned to me, 'Now,I do NOT know HOW I was able to put up with that ! I would NOT go in or near there.' I never ever went in one either. IF, you smoke and enjoy it, well you're welcome too it, it's a free country. Mac

CruisingNole Posted March 23, 2018 #58 Share Posted March 23, 2018 WHY in the world would anyone spend $$$$$ to rent or buy a scooter on a cruise? Some people are just lazy. You see it at the grocery store all the time. Before the politically correct police attack me, please understand, I AM NOT SAYING EVERYONE ON A SCOOTER IS LAZY. But just like anything else in this world, there are people that abuse the privilege. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

SmoothFlying Posted March 23, 2018 #60 Share Posted March 23, 2018 I saw that you mentioned your wife used to smoke in the Casino. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Yes, she did. It was her decision three years ago to quit. I let her make the decision, without a con argument. She still visits the casino but has too suffer the occasional smoke clouds, but she's hoping the second hand smoke dealer doesn't win out in the long run. She's got guts because I've heard countless ex smokers say 'Once they SMELL the smoke, it's very difficult not to start again.' Since I never started I'll have to take their word about that, Mac

Sent from my iPhone using Forums Eight, A little of both, she LOVES the casino, so when she was smoking she really didn't mind the smoke. I guess it's sorta like when you smoke for 40+years you get used to the 'smell'. MY Dad did smoke for 50 years (all my childhood till I was 20) so I guess I had a 'smoker's nose', too a degree. Faint whiffs didn't bother me till it became a cloud.:(.. Then I had to seek cleaner pastures.;) I have friends and my BIL whom have health problems, which they believe were caused by smoking and have since quit. I'm just glad I never started. P.S. I'll tell her your congrats, she loves it when people notice.;p Mac
topnole Posted March 24, 2018 #63 Share Posted March 24, 2018 Other threads on this but e-cig smoking happens all over the ship. Sucks they do nothing about it. That stuff is truly poison.
Rare xpcdoojk Posted March 24, 2018 #64 Share Posted March 24, 2018 I saw something a couple of days ago that I'd never seen before since Royal Caribbean went no-smoking in most public venues on their ships. As I was walking along the Royal Promenade on Oasis of the Seas, I noticed a woman on a scooter who had positioned herself facing into a corner between Café Promenade and Kate Spade (formerly the Cupcake Cupboard). It seemed odd that she seemed to be just staring into the corner, but then I noticed her right hand had two fingers outstretched in a way that seemed to be characteristic of how a smoker might hold a cigarette. Then I saw her exhale a cloud of smoke. She then dropped the cigarette on the floor and stepped on it to extinguish it. As she was backing out of her smoking corner, a crew member confronted her. She kept backing up while offering that she had no idea why there were the two (!) cigarette butts on the floor. She then drove away as the crew member watched her go. He seemed both befuddled and frustrated. that is so awesome... wait. I don’t care. JC
Coralc Posted March 24, 2018 #65 Share Posted March 24, 2018 I think that if you are 40+ or so, you have seen people smoking. Inappropriate places or not. I don't really understand why you were SHOCKED and APPALLED or felt that it was worth a thread. (or made it appear that way:rolleyes:) Seriously? Paulxyz2004 Posted March 24, 2018 #68 Share Posted March 24, 2018 RCCL should take the ship in the middle of the ocean & just sink it. It's too contaminated for future use. DiamondGene Posted March 24, 2018 #71 Share Posted March 24, 2018 We just come off the Adventure, March 17th 7 day eastern Caribbean, and we couldn't go into the Casino because there were people smoking almost everywhere in the Casino. It was so bad that I literally could not breathe, had to get out as quick as possible. On other ships the smoking was limited to only small areas of the Casino, you could find an area that was non-smoking and at least you could tolerate the smoke. I did no gambling on the Adventure. Just a loss of $$ for RC.
