Day 2 evening:

 

Shortly after my post my door was opened with my luggage which gave me ample time to unpack my hefty 68lb suitcase. At about 3:15 I decided to shower because our CC group decided for sail away to meet at the sunset bar and soon after the meet up I have dinner at the porch at 6PM. Whilst taking a shower I heard a knock on the door and didn’t respond hoping the person would know I was taking a shower which then meant I couldn’t answer the door. I hear my door open and close rather quickly. After I get out the shower I notice a tray on my table; it’s the afternoon canopies.

Today’s canopies were shrimp cocktail, mozzarella and tomato, deviled egg and prosciutto and melon.

 

The Porch Review:

 

I had a reservation made for The Porch at 6PM. I was the only person there the whole time I dined for an hour and a half.

My server was awesome, she was kind hearted and had a very bubbly personality. While I personally enjoyed the Tuna Tartare, Lobster Bisque (Have a slight lisp still due to extremely hot soup, my excitement for food trumped my

Common sense!) The seafood tower, and the grilled Bronzino. I have pictures but for some

reason it won’t let me upload it, so bare with me!

 

Food was absolutely phenomenal and delicious. Highly recommend to anyone who likes seafood. (Good precursor for Raw on 5 that will be on Edge!)

 

Finally met my stateroom attendant who knew my

name before I even know he existed.

 

No complaints aside from water down drinks and crowd congestion from embarkation day.

 

Currently I am at the sunset bar taking in the wonderful breeze and the motion of the ocean. 9PM we have a comedian in the Silhouette theater. Will I make it to the show, who knows I’m currently typing this with endless yawns and might not make it!

Day 3: Goooood Morning!

 

I am sitting in the Sky Lounge waiting for the CC meet and mingle. I failed you but not going to the comedian; I was out like a light by 8:30 and needed to recuperate. I woke up by 7:30 and went to breakfast in the ocean view cafe. It was my first time stepping foot in the buffet but it felt like home as I just got off of Anthem of the Seas and the layout was very familiar. After an enjoyable breakfast (I avoid mass produced eggs as everyone else should!) I went to the pool deck and relaxed on the furniture and relaxed and caught up with some friends back on land. I will report back a little later as the boat is-a-rockin’!

It is wonderful to read a blog from someone who is on the Silhouette now, we are going to be sailing on her in just over a month's time, firstly on the Bravo Cruise and then on the Baltic. Someone said that Sue Denning is the cruise director at the moment.

 

Hope you enjoy yourself. We are imagining ourselves on the cruise too, looking forward to ours in 4-5 weeks.

Loving your review! My husband and I started sailing on X in our mid 20's. We too don't like to party and get loud crazy shenanigans. So I am excited to see another "young" perspective as I would LOVE to do a TA one day, if work would allow that much time off. For now, we have gone back to land vacations :( we only like to cruise on long itineraries.

On my first X cruise to the Med., I think I packed 20+ shoes so I feel ya on the shoe game haha!

We went to London in October for a short trip and did the Stonehenge, Bath, and Windsor Castle all day tour. You are going to LOVE it!

You might want to consider investing in a luggage scale. I never leave home without mine! They are small and easy to use. Be sure and check with your airline for the return transatlantic flight. Being overweight there could be very costly. :o Any good luggage store would sell these too.

Depending on how hefty a fee you have to pay for an international overweight bag on the flight back, it might be cheaper for you to purchase a cheap suitcase or duffle bag and pay for a 2nd checked bag instead. This also gives you the option to buy more souvenirs. :D

Day 3 evening:

Thank you for your concerns with my crazy heavy luggage and being compassionate with my 11 pairs of shoes. Luckily Norwegian Air Premium weight limit is 70lbs and when I get to Ponta Delgada I will unload a few pounds in gifts to my family I should be good with the weight limit even with bringing on tons of souvenirs.

 

So to be completely honest, I went to the CC meet and mingle which was interesting, I found that people were intimidated to speak to me probably due to how young I look and maybe thought they couldn’t connect with me but I met two lovely couples and we even played trivia together afterward which was a blast. We did make plans to come back and do another round of trivia but I totally took a four hour nap just to catch up on pure exhaustion from work. I did promise I would be back tomorrow morning for morning trivia and I will have to apologize then! After trivia I tried to get coffee from Cafe al Bacio but once again people were adding to the Silhouette Art collection on board and it was just a wall of statue so I gave up and instead went with alcohol which is just as warming as a good cup of coffee! [emoji23]

 

Sushi on 5 Lunch Review:

 

For lunch I ate at Sushi on 5 and it was delicious my server was soooooooooo kind. You can really feel the difference when coming from a Mass Market cruise line to a luxury line. I personally enjoyed Lobster Ramen, Chicken Ginger Gyoza and Shrimp Tempura. Phenomenal. Phenomenal. Phenomenal. Well worth it, if you enjoy Japanese cuisine.

 

When I woke up from my long exhausting slumber it was 5:30 and I had dinner reservations at 6:30 in murano. Today was also evening chic so I thought I would get a little snazzy even though Murano is smart casual I knew that dress code would be carrying over to Murano.

 

Murano Review:

 

I will start off with a bold statement. Holy ________ the food was astounding and sensational. My palate could not be happier with me but my hips on the other hand are slightly infuriated.

The food here was Michelin Star quality and I am comparing it to a few that I have been too. I am big on service and my waiter and assistant waiter were marvelous. Even other waiters who were not waiting my table would come over and make sure everything was ok. The team work in service really pays off and makes for an incredible experience. I personally indulged in mushroom Risotto that beat out two different risottos I have had at 2 restaurants in Italy that I couldn’t pick from. There was the mushroom foam on top that just made the dish so cohesive and truly an unforgettable dish. They brought out a seared scallop from the chef which was delicious.

Then the main event; Murano Lobster. Now I did do my research and know that this was prepped table side so I was excited and being from New England this boy loves his Lobster. Truly an experience when they flambé the lobster in front of you and a great show before your meal. My waiter had a wonderful sense of humor that added to the whole experience. Next was the stinky cheese plate. I got some seriously stinky cheeses. Thank god for good wine to push them down because yikes, stinky cheese is not for me! After that the cram-dela-creme was the dark chocolate soufflé. Holy _________ (insert your favorite vulgar word) this was amazing. I could eat 4 of them it was so good, but then again anything chocolate is epicenter of a great dessert. Absolute no complaints from Murano.

Only thing I noticed is the people dining, I could feel the heat in their eyes beeming on me as I was eating alone and it was a look of confusion/curiosity. It was uncomfortable at first but I got over it rather quickly as I paid just like they did to enjoy my meal, and since I paid double occupancy the seat was occupied by my virtual friends, all of you reading my live blog!

Currently as I type this with a margarita in hand I am at the sunset bar where my hair is blowing every which way and the boat is taking on some swells. Tonight we have the show Pearl and the comedian from yesterday will also preform tonight so I am not missing out!

That is interesting, my daughter (soon 23) is taking a leave of absence from work and is traveling across the USA for four months starting in two weeks. Most of her focus is going to be the western half of the country. She is looking at doing a travel blog using a site called, polar steps. And if that goes well, she is thinking of maybe writing a book.

We just returned on the Siloutte, last Sunday, April 15. It is the best ship for food and service. Sue, the CD is so much fun. We were told the crossing would be a little rough, so sleep well. I love hearing from you, please tell us everything, and thank you.

Enjoying reading your blog, as I also disembarked on April 15. We really enjoyed our cruise and the cruise director Sue was unbelievable. We would love to sail with her again. All the staff were so visible and interesting to speak with in the evening.

In my twenties, I traveled alone to numerous countries and enjoyed every trip. You will have a fantastic time.

Every cruise that we have been on there were events listed in the daily and also posted on the bulletin board for singles to get together.

 

Don’t know if that is of any interest to you but you should inquire if it is. Ask the Captain Club host, Cruise Director, or guest Relations. They may also be able to tell you how many guests are single and under 30. We have been told how many children, Elite and etc on board so I don’t think it would be a secret or invasion of privacy.

 

As for the Meet and Mingle/Connection party or whatever it is callled I don’t think it had anything to do with you being single. We have attended many and no longer go because it always the same. Passengers will claim a seat and stay planted as they are afraid that they will lose it and not have a good view of the introduction. After the intro of the officers attending and some words of wisdom from the host everyone immediately leaves except for those that are partaking in a gift exchange or had a private tour arranged with others.

 

We have tried walking around talking to some of passengers and I felt like you did and I was with my wife.
