Hawaiidan Posted August 10, 2018 #78 Share Posted August 10, 2018 Looking at the videos, maybe they are going to be more inclusive? Being able to choose and not forced to pay for everything is why I choose O to sail...and not Regent or Viking..... NO inclusive please...NO

NO inclusive please...NO Regent, Silversea, Seabourn, Crystal are all inclusive not Viking. But they are luxury lines and O is a Premium Line luxury light. I'm hoping that they'll at least replace the PH tubs with large showers.

Classiccruiser777 Posted August 11, 2018 #83 Share Posted August 11, 2018 From the Investor Day 1st Oceania slide --"Driving Demand -- Maximizing Pricing" As a shreholder I certainly hope so. This is standard business practice and management would be negligent not doing so. As a customer I’m most interested in getting the best value which O has delivered so far. tine-tine Posted August 11, 2018 #84 Share Posted August 11, 2018 Personally from my last cruise Riviera is in dire need of renovation in the public areas. Bottoms fallen out of chairs, in the GDR dirty chair backs, broken chairs lined up outside the dining room, grubby backs to chairs etc. I spoke with staff and they agreed that things were becoming dire and hoped the refit, which at that time was on the cards, went ahead, I believe since it has been postponed! Regarding changes, much as I love the Oceania product, on O class I find the design based on long corridors of public areas less intimate, more of a lobby than lounge. It would be great if they made the Casino into a proper coffee lounge/bar which could be a more intimate and an extra evening venue plus a great place for after dinner coffee or drink. They could possibly carve a chunk out of Horizons to make a new casino!
cbb Posted August 11, 2018 #85 Share Posted August 11, 2018 please, let Horizons alone. We already have to share it with smokers which is now, thankfully, glassed in. seeing how popular Artists Loft is on Insignia, I'm surprised it hasn't been added to the other R ships. It was so popular that people got up early to get a seat and all chairs were filled an hour before the event started.

babysteps Posted August 11, 2018 #87 Share Posted August 11, 2018 I doubt it given the ongoing success of O-life Choice. I agree. Finally looked at the investor day handout (see link in PaulMCO- post #6; once upon a time I was a sell-side stock analyst). Slides 79 and 136 appear to imply more focus on O-Life and pre-sales of onboard spending, not on more inclusive per-se. Also there is slide #144 with pictures of example furnishings and fabric for the coming R-ship renovations. They look more "transitional" than "traditional" but still soft and not super-modern. Aside - slide 141 says there will be fewer total mailed items and they will be more targeted...

There is no reason why they could not clean the chairs if they are that bad What is wrong with Martini's for a drink in the evening? I am sure the casino is working for them & it will not be going anywhere
Mura Posted August 11, 2018 #89 Share Posted August 11, 2018 I have to say that we were on Riviera in May and didn't notice anything like you say. Perhaps we just weren't looking! But it looked fine to us. (This was our first Riviera cruise although we've been on Marina a number of times.) Mura
Rare ORV Posted August 11, 2018 #90 Share Posted August 11, 2018 Are things that bad?? Ive just booked my first O sailing on Riviera. Probably not. Personally from my last cruise Riviera is in dire need of renovation in the public areas. Bottoms fallen out of chairs, in the GDR dirty chair backs, broken chairs lined up outside the dining room, grubby backs to chairs etc.! Hmm, I wonder why those chairs were lined up outside the dining room? Maybe, just maybe they were going to the upholstery shop(yes they do this type of stuff onboard) to be repaired. One thing I've always noticed about all Oceania ships is that they have more ongoing preventative maintenance than any other cruise line I've been on. People see what they want to see. Also if you look hard enough you can find issues with any ship, even a brand new one.

Rare LHT28 Posted August 11, 2018 #93 Share Posted August 11, 2018 , broken chairs lined up outside the dining room, ! I was just thinking (bad I know) Usually any furniture in need of repair is whisked away quickly Were the "broken chairs" lined up nightly in the entrance to the GDR after the podium? Maybe you got the wrong end of the stick & the chairs were there for people to sit & wait for others joining them for dinner or maybe a small table They also have chairs outside Polo. Toscana & Jacques at dinner time Just a thought
floridatravelersforlife Posted August 12, 2018 #94 Share Posted August 12, 2018 What Corporate does, the subs follow. Celebrity's latest ship, Edge , (which looks a reincarnation of Spanish American War battleships) is built with a lot of Royal Caribbean mega ship features (ie breaking up the MDR into 4 restaurants). I guess we will see analogous Norwegian features on Oceania. I hope the 1950's style decor is not adopted. At least the core market is still an older generation. Toscana & Jacques at dinner time Just a thought Sadly, while It is great that there are chairs for people to sit on outside the GDR where there are appreciated by waiting diners, the chairs have bits missing and have been repurposed from the dining room but evidently broken in places, arms missing etc. The backs of the chairs in the GDR were very grubby, I had to point out a window ledge that looked like someone had been feeding the birds and was told that it was rust! Many of the seats, particularly in the Grand Bar, had the seats collapsed and the springs long gone. There were other areas that the ships were showing need for Dry Dock, it was not just me but many of the staff were desperate for the awaited update. Such comments would maybe be acceptable on a lower budget cruise line but for me, my money was hard earned and I like to know that the standards on board were at least as good as my own when I give Oceania my money! I am surprised that the ship deteriorated that much since our Dec cruise I find those low chairs in the Grand hallway too low so I can see why the springs would be stressed when people more or less fall into the chairs there

Pet Nit Noy Posted August 13, 2018 #100 Share Posted August 13, 2018 On the oceania site page for Nautical there is a small video and a link to a brochure about Oceania NEXT https://www.oceaniacruises.com/ships/nautica/ Looks much classier (IMHO!! ) I agree. Very appealing blend of traditional wood tones and more contemporary furniture shapes and upholstery. Lovely chandeliers! However, I'm puzzled by the timing of this announcement. I don't understand why the trumpets are blaring quite so loudly for a make-over that won't exist until June 2020.
