Northern Aurora Posted August 19, 2018 #26 Share Posted August 19, 2018 We've done a cooking class in Murano on the Solstice, and the tour of the ship that includes lunch on the Reflection. Both were fun and interesting! On top of that...relax! Can I please get a big more info on this. It’s not something I’ve read about, but it sounds interesting. The name of the tour is the "Behind the Scenes Tour." We did it on the Millennium in 2017 when we had a significant amount of non-refundable OBC to burn. When we did it lunch was not included so it was less than when a lunch in a specialty restaurant was part of the tour. In our case, with no lunch, the cost was either $88 or $99 per person. We were issued a small ear receiver (volume could be adjusted) and as we were escorted through the ship the various presenters had a wireless mic -- so everyone could easily hear. Since it is limited in number the passengers really set the pace with our questions. For example, we had an engineer onboard who worked with elevators so in the engine control room there was a lengthy discussion about elevator management issues. On the bridge one of our fellow passengers was a retired commercial aviation pilot so there was lengthy discussion about emergency procedures and checklists. But one of the most interesting areas we visited was -- of all areas -- the ship recycling center. We thought it was well worth the money, and will probably do one on a S-class ship in the future. Luvcrusn Posted August 19, 2018 #31 Share Posted August 19, 2018 Spend time with my DH, relax and laugh, people watch, enjoy the balcony, read, veg out, eat, drink, smile, sit at the pool, see a show, dance, attend a lecture, watch the sun set over the sea, repeat. oskarNZ Posted August 19, 2018 #32 Share Posted August 19, 2018 It was several years ago, and it was listed in the daily and on ship. There was a cost, but I can't recall how much. We had a guided tour that included the bridge, engine/mechanical room, large area at the bow where the anchors are pulled up, the main crew level, food storage, main galleys, and included lunch at the Tuscan Grille. We were able to see many areas on the crew level including their food service area and crew bar. They spent considerable time with us on the bridge, explaining equipment and navigation from the bridge officer on duty. Had time for pictures with officers also. Overall very worth the price! Thanks for the update.

Banjo Posted August 19, 2018 #34 Share Posted August 19, 2018 For the last 5 or 6 years we taken 5 trans-Atlantic and numerous reposition cruises (that usually have a lot of sea days). Have shied away from the Caribbean itineraries. I'm a history/natural science buff so I really enjoy the lectures. Some are better then others but for the most part they are pretty good with some being outstanding. So a lot time in the theater and Celebrity Central. Try to get into the gym early AM and that is where I usually shower. Always have a good book, like to read on the balcony on nice days but if it's too windy or cold I'll be in the Solarium. Usually make it to the Elite Cocktail Hours up in the Skyview, enjoy meeting fellow cruisers. Harder sometimes on shore days-either fatigued or get back too late. So we enjoy the sea days and rarely bored.

Mike981 Posted August 19, 2018 #42 Share Posted August 19, 2018 We love sea days. Sure it gets crowded in some areas, but there are places to enjoy yourself if you keep an open mind. I won't get stressed out about getting off the ship and/or the excursion I booked. Take in the salt air and smile like a fool. Watch the water. Watch people stressing out over ______ & ______ & ....and laugh at them. Look at my wife and keep thinking, "man, did I ever get lucky."
