When Allure had the dinged propellor issue last year they removed St Kitts due to speed restrictions. Too many vibrations at high speed.
proggieus Posted April 2, 2019 #277 Share Posted April 2, 2019 (edited) Reports are that 1200 crew were transferred back to Florida on a Grand Bahamas ship https://www.wpbf.com/article/local-cruise-ships-help-crew-members-on-ship-damaged-by-crane/27019962 that don’t sound good..... edit actually i misread that. They were fed and shetered on the ship. Article Says the oasis crew would return to Florida today however i doubt the oasis crew would be returning to Palm Beach FL. ezelaya Posted April 2, 2019 #279 Share Posted April 2, 2019 They must know something we all don't. "The Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas was dry-docked in the Bahamas when the crane crashed on top of the ship, causing it to flip on its side and take on water" I would assume that RCCL wouldn't want to keep the crew on the boat as they fix the mess anyways. Makes sense to bring them back to Florida until repairs are completed.

If not the east coast it'll be extremely late for us here in the UK and even later for my European friends. I'm thinking US Eastern Daylight is now GMT - 4. So 9pm for you. Good to see a competitor of sorts stepping up. Few hotels in Freeport now capable of housing 1,200+ on demand. Many hotels were damaged by Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Part of my thought in booking the Oasis Thanksgiving sailing (first one after the schedule AMP drydock). I'm fortunate that I drive to the ports, so a change in plans will have little effect on me. No flights to change and I won't book a non-refundable hotel or car rental. I know others that throw down deposits on rumored full ship charters to get the OBC when it pans out and gets canceled. It's just a tough situation for those who have to deal with non-refundable travel plans. They're at the mercy of what Royal offers and then has available to salvage their vacation. dagalewis Posted April 2, 2019 #284 Share Posted April 2, 2019 We have booked the Transatlantic on Oasis on April 21 to Barcelona. We have a flight to Florida booked, a room in Cape Canaveral booked for a week, a room in Barcelona booked for a week, a flight from Barcelona to England booked, another Royal Carribean cruise booked around Europe, and many other plans for our month and a half trip. Everything has been carefully planned and booked for this trip. Getting a little (or a lot) nervous. They say that there will be a news conference today at 5 on the status of the ship. Where do we view this? We may have to make some last minute changes. Not sure how we will handle this if our cruise is cancelled. We have also carefully planned our trip budget, and don't want to spend more than we planned. BIG OUCH!!!

mousefan73 Posted April 2, 2019 #289 Share Posted April 2, 2019 Twitter someone posted that they know someone on Allure and it has been announced that The next two sailings are canceled this weekend and the next. 7/14th. Of course I don’t believe anything 100% I read on Twitter and I don’t want to upset those here scheduled on those. I guess we are all speculating right now anyways. In my case my return air from BCN is the roundtrip portion of the ticket I used to get to Symphony in October, but I still have a flight to FL on 4/20, hotel, shuttle booked, etc. Because my BCN flight home is the return portion of a roundtrip ticket I have a lot of restrictions for using it for something else. I may just lose that ~$600, if it comes to that. All we can do is wait patiently. Learning our fate at 5pm or a week from now doesn't really change anything. They only have crew visas, so they are only allowed to join or leave a ship, and have to be escorted by bonded agent to the airport direct from the ship. Not even sure they would be granted entry as their visa is for a ship that is not in the US at the moment.

reallyitsmema Posted April 2, 2019 #298 Share Posted April 2, 2019 (edited) That video I just linked shows the ship being evacuated prior to the crane leaning against the ship. You can also see the drydock on the port side and around 1:00 to 1:30 look in the water behind the ship. Not sure if that is coffer dam flooding or what. Video is from crew member walking off ship, so not much footage of water behind ship. Edited April 2, 2019 by reallyitsmema
