Not sure I am understanding your question.......

Security takes their own photo of you.

You cannot substitute any other photo for a security photo.

I was able to order my medallions today, 83 days out from my cruise. You take a security photo or copy in a photo that you already have. It's my understanding that security will only take a photo if when you get to the ship they feel the photo isn't good enough.

BTW, your ocean ready account doesn't have to be all green in order to order your medallion. I part of my account was still orange. It indicated that my personalizer wasn't complete, however, everything in my personalizer is complete, I'm just not within 75 days of the cruise.

I'm just happy I could order my without any difficulty since it seems that they are still working out some issues.

Thanks I should have clarified.

Yes they will  check the photo to see if it’s accurate and take one if necessary.

I was able to register both myself and my husband on my app, scan our passports and order our medallions.  Our passports and pictures actually carried over from our January Regal sailing to our May Caribbean Princess sailing.  So it appears once you do it, you won't have to input all the information again.

I am trying to get ocean ready and see that they want pictures of our passports, but Princess already has our passport information  that we submitted recently.... not sure why it is necessary?

You avoid the step of having to show your passport to the check in agent if you have supplied a recent scan of the barcode and photo of the relevant pages via Ocean Ready.

I was able to complete the process more or less without error a few nights ago. My only issue was that given I just traded in my phone I had no pictures on file that I would want to use as my avatar. So I just took a photo of the cover of the Cruise Atlas as a placeholder.

Actually there is a bigger issue: while all this 21st century foofaraw is supposed to save time at check in it seems to simply be replacing a few minutes of face-to-face at the cruise terminal with the better part of an hour of my time at home pre-cruise. Doing what used to be the cruise line's backroom duties.

In Ocean Medallion you are scanning the actual passport and not just filling in information that could be entered in error.

This may have been addressed but. Are you able to be Ocean Ready if you just have a desk top, no phone, no tablet.

The only way I was able to get “Ocean Ready” was on my laptop. I was able then to print off the Medallion boarding passes and we will collect the medallions when we embark (UK passengers so they won’t post them).

The only need for a phone or tablet that I can see is to have the useful new version of the Princess at Sea app.

Thanks fishywood,

I will show our passports to the agent rather than taking the photo. We  will go to the port a little earlier and let the staff take care of the rest.

I might be the last one to find this out but just in case I'm not:

I went into my Ocean Ready and found that not only is my July cruise complete but that I only had to verify my passport for a short one in October! It's over 75 days out but it's done!! I'm going to love this medallion 😊

Taking my first cruise in September with the ocean medallion. I’ve read a lot about it but no mention if there is a cost to use it or if you must use it.  Could someone please address my concerns...thank you.

No cost to use. It serves the same purpose as the card it replaces at the most basic level. With applications on phone or tablet it has other uses which you have probably read about.

Only the potential of losses if using Ocean Casino!

Other than that, completely free of charge.

But remember, MedallionNet (the very fast shipboard WiFi) is a component of Ocean Medallion and does carry with it a charge. You are free to add MN or not. Your choice.

But other than that, no charge for using OM.

I got the family "Ocean ready" using my account. However, I could only change the Avitar Picture on my account. I had to create separate accounts for each person in order to set their Avitar Picture.

So we sail in a couple of weeks...….I have downloaded Ocean Ready and so has my husband, and we have completed all steps to be "Ocean Ready".  Couple of questions.  I downloaded Play Ocean (to set up our avatars that follow you around the ship).  It let me set up for DH, but no option for another person (me).  Do I need a separate log in?  Also on the other apps..... do 2 people need separate log ins?   All the apps ask for e mail, and we only have 1 e mail (the one we share).     Help!

Double check that the scanned passport information is displayed correctly.

After scanning the information it was shown in boxes that can be edited prior to accepting the passport’s information.  For my wife’s information there was a misspelling & corrected the mistake before accepting the information.

Yes .... maybe that's why it flips green to red to green without me changing anything. I'll find out July 27th in Florida

If you want to use the location function (to find the other person, or to have drinks brought to you), then you will need separate accounts. Get a free mail from gmail, yahoo, etc.

Scrolled through the posts to see if there were any comments from Canadians to answer a question.   Since we live in Canada, the Ocean Medallion will not be mailed to us so what would be the purpose in downloading the Ocean Ready App. I have sent the question to our Princess Travel Planner and will post her response (if I get one!).   In the meantime, maybe someone here knows the answer.

You may be able to get Ocean Ready and save a few minutes at Embarkation.

Download all the Ocean Apps now, so you don't have to do it onboard.

Concerning Ocean Ready - what is it? Is it something that I need? I see on a Google search that it’s an app. (??) But an app to do what? Where do I find/acquire it? Do I go to the Apple App Store and search for it? Should I have received a link to it from Princess? I can’t find anything at all about it on the Princess site.  I’ve tried to look over these Cruise Critic boards for a post that will explain it,  but I can’t find anything that doesn’t just confuse me even more.

Someone, please help me understand or tell me I don’t need to understand and should ignore it all. (In which case, I’ll go on my merry way and hope I get to board in 27 days without scanning my passport or understanding this Ocean Ready thing. This seemed so much simpler when I took my last — and only other cruise — two years ago.)

[And now I see the only thing I can do with my question is “Submit a reply” ???  I’m not replying to anything. Moderator - I’m lost. Please kindly move this inquiry to the correct location.]

Oh, thank you, thank you. I’ll look at that link right now. Sometimes I panic too easily. (Or so I’m told.)
