Rare lorimay Posted July 30, 2019 #79 Share Posted July 30, 2019 We just got off Summit. The smoking area was on deck 4 port side just outside the Rendezvous lounge. Right outside and in front of the door. There were quite a few smokers. Every time the door opened from outside the smoke smell drifted in and the Rendezvous always smelled like cigarette smoke. Not as bad as the way the smoke drifts from the casino (also known as smoker's lounge) on RC, but still pretty bad.

That is an ongoing RC joke that the ships casinos are smoking lounges that allows gambling. 😀 Edited July 30, 2019 by davekathy
tkline Posted July 30, 2019 #81 Share Posted July 30, 2019 I've smelled cigarettes before but just passing through hallways. Luckily haven't had anyone near our room that was smoking, but I would definitely say something if we ever do in the future. Really glad they are making the casinos non smoking too, pretty much why we hardly ever go to casinos on land anymore.

I just wish that RC would do anywhere near as good a job as Celebrity at enforcement -- of the rules that they already have in place. On our recent 'family cruise' on Indy -- the folks who were in the 'Family Grand Suite' (directly below us) clearly did NOT think that the 'no cabin/balcony smoking' rule applied to THEM. We had to call the GR desk 3 times (over a 5-night cruise) to get it to stop. In 10 years of sailing X, I've had to report various scofflaws -- but NEVER more than once!

As a smoker, I agree that balconies and the casino should all be made smoke-free. However, you hoped that RCCL becomes like Celebrity. Would that also include eliminating theIr lounge (Connoisseur Club) for smokers ? Sadly I think those cigar lounges are few and far between now, on the lines that have them at all, but it is a nice option for a drink and a cigar without being "in your face" to non-smokers. Rare Smmessineo Posted July 30, 2019 #84 Share Posted July 30, 2019 I smoke and I would turn in anyone smoking on their balcony or in their stateroom. This issue doesn't have to be us versus them 😃. 4

They are actually doing away with them. I was on Adventure recently (in the last year) and they had turned the Connoisseur Club into a non smoking card room. It used to be the nicest and quietest place on the ship to have a cigar(at least until the ciggy smokers found it).
Xrayal Posted July 30, 2019 #86 Share Posted July 30, 2019 On the one occasion I had cause to report smoking in a non-designated smoking area I approached an officer and pointed out the lack of ash tray was a fire risk. He responded appropriately.

elaineb Posted July 30, 2019 #90 Share Posted July 30, 2019 Glitter - bad for the environment. All indoor smoking. Where do you smoke your cigar when cruising with Celebrity? We did a B2B cruise on the Freedom March 2019 and the Connoisseur Club was being used by cigar and cigarette smokers. I was always under the impression that lounge was for only cigar smokers. You could smell the stench from the Connoisseur Club when entering and leaving the Star Lounge. Celebrity does provide a very nice area for cigar smoking, on one side of the Sunset Bar, on S-Class ships and the Edge. The taste and sweet aroma of a good cigar is one of my life's pleasures and in an open air venue like that I can indulge without affecting others, while schmoozing with my fellow smokers. Sounds like that Connoisseur Club was overutilized and underventilated. That's too bad. I guess that's the flaw of many dedicated indoor cigar areas on ships. Probably why they are disappearing. I wonder how the cigar smokers felt about their lounge being used by the cigarette smokers. Sunset bar. Forgot all about that bar and location. Great views. Enjoy your cigar, drinks and conversation. Gorgeous ship and very happy with the cruise but we had neighbors on the ship that were smoking on their balcony and it filled my room with smoke. Then we smelled smoke in the hallway. They make MANY announcements that smoking is not allowed. Why do people refuse to listen? Sorry but it was my only complaint about the cruise. I’m really allergic to smoke. When we did a cruise around the horn of South America (Infinity) in 2014, we had some neighbors from Germany that had the cabin upwind from us. I noticed the lady smoking on the balcony and immediately called to complain. Nothing happened, so I complained directly to the housing manager. He came out and instructed our neighbors to stop the smoking. That worked until about two days prior to the end of the cruise, when it started again. I complained again, nothing changed. On the same day (a sea day) I complained again, nothing changed. After a third complaint, the housing manager came by our cabin and explained that they didn't have enough evidence to fine them, even though I could have taken a photo of the lady smoking. I think the housing manager didn't want to push it with one night left in the cruise. Still, for the last 2-3 days of the cruise, we couldn't enjoy our balcony at all due to the smoke. sportsmum Posted July 31, 2019 #97 Share Posted July 31, 2019 On the Summit we entered our CC room and it reeked of smoke. I stayed outside in the hallway and husband went in and onto the balcony thinking opening the door would air it out. On the deck was a tin FULL of butts. Not only was the room smoked in but steward was not cleaning after passengers departed. Called for the HD but we were told he was busy. We were told the steward would clean it and they tried an air purifier. Steward stood around talking with a cloth in hand until I demanded HD. Room switched, beautiful bouquet of flowers on formal night. If anyone else was wondering about smoking areas on the ships: Celebrity Constellation • Deck 11 Forward port side • Deck 10 Midship portside • Deck 4 Port side forward Celebrity Infinity • Deck 10 Port Side Mid Ship only (outside of midship elevators) • Deck 4 Port Side Mid Ship & Mast Bar port side Celebrity Millennium • Deck 10 Aft Port Side at the Sunset Bar • Deck 10 Port Side open deck from the Solarium to the Midship • Deck 4 Port side Celebrity Summit • Deck 11 Mast Bar at the open deck on port side • Deck 10 Pool Deck Mid ship portside • Deck 4 Open Deck on port side from Mid ship going to Forward Celebrity Solstice • Deck 15 Sunset Bar Aft Port Side (this is the only cigar and pipe smoking area on the vessel) • Deck 14 Starboard side next to the Mast Bar • Deck 12 Aft Port Side • Deck 5 Port Side Celebrity Equinox • Deck 15 Aft Port Side next to the Sunset Bar • Deck 14 Starboard side next to the Mast Bar • Deck 12 Port side Midship • Deck 5 Portside Midship and Forward Celebrity Eclipse • Deck 15 Aft Port side next to the Sunset Bar • Deck 14 Starboard side next to the Mast Bar • Deck 12 Port side Midship • Deck 5 Port side Midship & Forward Celebrity Silhouette • Deck 15 Aft Port Side next to the Sunset Bar • Deck 14 Starboard side next to the Mast Bar • Deck 12 Port side Midship • Deck 5 Port side Midship and Forward Celebrity Reflection • Deck 15 Aft Port side next to the Sunset Bar • Deck 15 Starboard side next to the Mast Bar • Deck 5 Portside, Midship, and Forward Celebrity Edge • Deck 15 Sunset Bar Aft • Deck 5 Eden outdoor Port side exterior seating section which is under an overhang. Before sailaway from Bermuda I saw my nieghbor two cabins down smoking . I called guest services and reported the cabin number (i went to the hallway and checked) . Guest Services called me back about 10 minutes later to report that the room steward checked with the guest who denied smoking . OF COURSE . HE DID . Maybe your complaint did some good because we used the balcony a lot and I never smelled it again. We were on RC in March and there were people smoking on balconies all around us. It was very disappointing.
