Call me crazy, but...

As you know, the perks between AQ and CC are slightly different.

Blu is a good restaurant and the staff impressed me with their ability to personalize our dinner experience. This said, we have always enjoyed our experience in the more impressive main dining room. Actually, as a CC customer, we were in the highest class eating in the MDR. So we had a great table, and the staff was also fantastic!

Persian Gardens are nice, but on M Class ship, they were not our cup of tea. ( not sure on S or Edge Class).

The CC lunch on embarkation day was a nice experience. Other CC Perks such as sail away on he helipad, casino slot tournament, daily bites were also appreciated. The concierge could not help us much since all our excursions and specialty dining was booked before the cruise.

On our next cruise, we have booked a CC aft cabin, for the larger balcony and to see the ship’s wake, which is mesmerizing. I really look forward to the experience!

In short, OP, in answer to your question, you’re not crazy, just looking for a different experience. So enjoy and learn!

My question also.  Am I missing something?  Does one get a better seating in the MDR when booked in Concierge Class?

...I just called Celebrity and changed our cabin on the Silhouette from an A2-1648  to a C1 Aft-1415 ...the aft cabin had just become available...

That will be my cabin a week today!  And no, I don’t think you are crazy at all.  We’ve had Aqua cabins a number of times - most recently in May - and I’ve decided that I often prefer the MDR, so I’m sure that the location will more than compensate.

It may be the result of a coïncidence, but this is my perception:

Suite Class passengers eat in Luminae.

AQ Class passengers eat in Blu.

The MDR is left to other passenger classes: CC, veranda, OV and inside.

In my past experiences, when booking inside or Veranda, our table location or configuration was not « perfect ». I was left feeling like or request had been considered, but priority had been given to other passengers.

During our last cruise, we were in CC, and we were attributed a table exactly as we had requested.

Based on this experience, I developed the belief that when time came to examine seating requests in the MDR, the cruise line likely used either the cabin category and/or captain’s club status to determine which order of priority is given to a seating request. (since our Captain Club’s status is low, the other option CC class was likely the reason why our request was granted).

In any event, this was my logic.

That actually makes a lot of sense if they have a computer program to reorder the waiting list.

Think about it, typically you think of the request list/waiting list as a paper list, and someone wrote your name down on the list - the only "ordering" of the list would be when you made the request, how many people in your party, and whether or not you slipped the person $20 to put a star or something by your name. On the ship, they input your name and cabin number onto a computer list and that could have any type filters they wanted to use.

I personally love AQ, only for BLU the few times in a AFT cabin were nice but not a big deal and we spend very little time on the veranda and want a mid-ship cabin location. Its a long walk to most everything from the AFT of the ship. I do not think it matters what cat. or your cabins club level for a Main Dinning room table location its how and who you ask. I have tried tipping $50.00 for a better location the Maitre d refused the cash but did the second night give us a better table. He took the cash from me though the last night of the cruise for excellent service.
