Just did this on back-to-backs last April/May. Called Captain's Club just prior to the end of the first cruise. They put the Elite Plus perks on our second cruise.

Great!  Missed your response earlier.  This is great news!  I'll give it a try!

This is great news!  We will certainly reach out to Capt's Club to see if we can get those Elite perks!  Appreciate the feedback.

We will be 3 points short of Elite at the end of the first of two B2B cruises.  Do you think we might be granted Elite perks on the second of the two cruises?  Thinking I might ask for special dispensation at the beginning of the second cruise from the Capt Club concierge.

No the CC host on the ship will not change your tier level to elite for the second leg going into it 3 points shy of the required CC cruise points for elite. At the end of the second leg is when you will be credited with enough points to become elite. Any future cruises after that you will be elite. Calling the Captains Club will not gain you anything either.

As far as Elite perks being cancelled, I've heard reference to priority tendering being cancelled for Elites because there were too many Elites onboard.  This would irritate me because I find the priority tendering to be one of the most valuable benefits.

Wasn't the case on our last Infinity cruise, September 2018 down the west coast. Looking forward to the tender elite perk on our upcoming 14 night New England/Canada cruise on the Summit September 2019 as we have three tender ports on that cruise.

To OP, welcome to Elite status. 😊 I really enjoy this on Celebrity. Our most recent cruise we did not go to the Lounge for drinks and appies as we were with my sister and BIL; we were able to get drinks at most bars simply by showing our card (which has your Captain's Club status printed on it) to the bartender. We did tip each drink as we would also tip in the Lounge. Worked out great and we were able to enjoy our cruise with our loved ones who were not able to go into the Lounge with us.

Have fun.

I think  they only cut back on benefits when there are a lot of Elites onboard.  Were there a lot of Elites on your West coast cruise?  Hopefully there won't be any cutbacks on your Canadian cruise.

Two people have misread the situation and come back to correct their answers.  The long and short of it is that you will NOT be getting Elite benefits on the second cruise.

Agree and it would put the CC host in the uncomfortable position of saying no, which they will do as these rules are never bent for anyone.

We've never experienced any cutbacks even on cruises with over 1,000 Elites on board. Instead of limiting the Elite Happy Hour to one location, we've sometimes gotten coupons or some other method of ordering drinks in other bars. But, the Elite event still takes place in whatever lounge is forward at the top of the ship. Comp drinks are served and appetizers are passed. A lot of people don't go because they can get their drinks in a number of other bars on the ship. We had one where there were so many Elites on board that they also served the appetizers in other bars from 5 to 7 p.m.

Most folks who reach a new CC level do it half way through a cruise. Due to this they do NOT make exceptions. Word spreads fast and this could cause  a huge issue for the CC host. It is not fair to ask to buck the system

Based on the nightly CC HH events, yes. Plus a lot of us being escorted to the tenders by the CC host.

And they will not bend the rules for someone asking. Kudos to the Captains Club.

Is it economically feasible for you to upgrade your first leg to the next category to gain the extra points you need to make Elite after your first leg? Besides getting the free drinks between 5-7 pm once you make elite, you each will also get a free bag of laundry on your second leg to wash all your dirty clothes from the first leg!

Did you miss Sassett's post #21 ?

I re-read it. I think you're right. In our case we were 7 points short at the beginning of the first cruise and satisfied Elite Plus prior to the second cruise.

Your situations are entirely different.

Sasset had the necessary points after the end of the first cruise.

Therefore, Sasset was legitimately entitled to the upgrade on the second cruise and was not asking for any exception to be made, because no exception was needed.

Capsplace will still be short of the necessary points after the end of the first cruise.

But capsplace will have the necessary points after the end of the second cruise, and therefore will honestly and legitimately qualify for the upgrade on the cruise following that one,

(avoiding the embarrassment of begging for a special exception that would most likely be denied anyway).

It should be easy to do the math and calculate the cost of upgrading enough to gain the extra points needed to make Elite after the first cruise vs. the cost of paying for drinks and laundry themselves on the next cruise, also taking into account any additional benefits that may be derived from the upgrade.

Another factor to consider is the tradeoff between ordering and paying for drinks you really want, whenever you want them, vs. the restrictions of needing to order from a very limited menu,  only during very limited hours.

Those "free" drinks between 5-7 are hardly worthwhile if they are not drinks that someone really likes or would otherwise choose.

But then again, I am thinking of a couple of guys I know who will drink anything alcoholic as long as they don't have to pay for it. 😉

Priority tendering was the reason we took a 2 day repositioning cruise from Amsterdam to Southampton to become Elite before our 14 night Southern Caribbean cruise in 2013.

We had previously spent 3 HOURS trying to get on a tender in Split.

When I complained, I was told we should have taken a ship’s tour!

I must admit that I still avoid tender ports if at all possible.

i also like the Elite breakfast. This can vary depending on the number of Elites. If few, they pre plate the food ( as on Silhouette 2018). If more Elites, they provide a buffet.

The attached picture is the Ultimate platter, (less the cheese, as I am Dairy Intolerant), but they also have a cheese and fruit platter.

We have never just had one location for Elite Happy Hour. Our first Elite cruise was in 2013 and we often went to the Ensemble bar for our free drinks. No nibbles, but often a string trio played. It is also very convenient for dining as it is on deck 5.

That's strange.  We've done around 20 cruises as Elite and except for the occasional instances of too many Elites (thus, coupons) and recently (open drinks anywhere) the only place available for the Elite drinks was the Sky Lounge.

February of this year the Captains Club started loading unlimited drinks on your Seapass cards no matter the sailing or number of elite and elite + to have at any of the lounges during the 5 to 7 PM HH except the WCB, dining rooms and room service. You can also have your drinks in the Sky Lounge during the CC HH.

I know.  That's why I said "recently (open drinks anywhere)."

I was wondering about the poster I quoted saying they could get drinks anywhere in 2013 and since.  Never saw that except with the coupon deal and the new open drink policy.

Well not anywhere. I guess their cruise was one of those cruises with high number of elite and elite plus and the CC host loaded CC HH drinks on their Seapass cards for that cruise.
